Had a very nice meal here- food was beautifully prepared and tasty, and worth the price as a rare treat. Pasta dishes and steak were especially good.

The food was great. I had the ribs. They were tender and melt in my mouth like butter. The waitress was not helpfull i had to rely on the busboy which by the way he should have been the waiter. I'll probably go back again and its just because the food was great

Like the poster below, I've never had a bad meal here. Romantic dinner with my husband, check. Great place to take friends from out of town, check. Brunch spot where my toddler is happy as a clam, check. Love it. The tuna tartare is divine, and the trout with ginger broth is delicious. Everyone in the dining room looks happy and relaxed. I love this place.

Pros: food, wine list, service.

Cons: can get a tad pricey...

Upscale New American dining that is never pretentious or snooty. Now that they've expanded the dining room, it's much more romantic and less hectic. I've had the short ribs, lamb chops, pork chop, and halibut here. All were fantastic. Great beer and wine selection. Never a scene.

I've have been to Blair's several times and I'm starting to wonder about this place. The food is pretty good, some dishes are bit too heavy, but you can tell which ones those are by looking at the menu. The service has been pretty good. I work nearby, so I go there for lunch from time to time and since I only live 4 blocks east of it, I go there with my girlfriends for dinner as well. Whenever I go there at night, there's a man that sits at the bar and walks around from time to time. I thought that he was possibly the ONLY male waiter they had, and was going to ask for a refill, but one of the girl's told me that he was actually the HEAD CHEF!!! WHAT???? Don't chef's belong in the back? He's always sitting there, chatting with the waittresses and I can't help but to wonder....who's making our tuna tartar and short ribs????? I wish I had his job of sitting around and making money. But until I can find myself a job as chef, I'l be crunching numbers. I go there for convenience. The food is decent. I don't each too much salad at home, but the salads there are definitely worth the trip. I think they need to make more elbow room there too. We usually go as a group of 3, but sometimes we feel like we're sitting at a table with other guests.

went there last saturday night with my husband for our anniversary. we were really pleased with the food, the ambience, almost everything. the food was really good, especially the spare ribs that my husband ordered. and my canneloni was great too, not outstanding but really good. we had the rapini as a side dish, it was ok, nothing great but light and perfectly cooked. the crab cake was ok, it was not too oily, just perfect, just a bit pricey. for dessert, we ordered their donuts which was highly recommended and it was really fantastic!!! wines that we ordered werre great, and reasonably priced! my only problem was the the servers can't seem to wait before we were finished to take our plates!!:) but overall, we enjoyed our experience here and we will be back!

I've been meaning to try Blair's ever since I moved into the neighborhood and I finally had the chance this past Friday and may never stop talking about it. I've lived in L.A. for 7 years and have been to more than my share (and probably your share too) of restaurants and this one surpassed every one that came before it. I needed a last minute reservation and they were more than accomodating. I was able to find parking right outside the restaurant and the seating was prompt. The servers were incredibly personable and helpful and the food was nothing short of divine. I'm from the east coat and incredibly picky about my seafood, and the crab cake starter and the halibut main course were completely amazing. The deserts were so good that between the two of us we had three. The beer menu, 99.1% of which I had never heard of before. was as long as my arm and the server's recommendation was so brilliant I'm now looking for that particular beer in stores. In short, this place is fabulous and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

went here on a friday night and instantly found the decor welcoming. slight panic ensued when it looked like the only spare table was in the bar area (not recommended for a romantic meal for 2). it soon became clear that such an unlucky fate was to be avoided and we were led to the main dining area which was small and quaint. opening up the menu, both drinks and food, made for a nice surprise. the selections were plentiful and night overwrought. hmm... what to pick?! went for the crabcake which was good/very good and followed it up with a steak which was, again, very good. the waitress was helpful but not overbearing and annoying as so many can be. a great experience overall!

I discovered this restaurant a few months back and I am there almost twice a month. The food is amazing, especially the mac'n cheese and new york steak. The service is friendly and they remember you when you retur.n The wine bar has a great selection of lesser known wines and the bartenders help you decide on a good wine. It can get very crowded but that's expected of a popular neighborhood spot.

Pros: best food, friendly service, nearby

Cons: pricey, crowded

We love this restaurant for special occasions. The food is consistently excellent, the service is friendly and competent, and the atmosphere is genial and lowkey. It's not for people looking for a high octane, glamorous LA experience, it's just for people who love great food in a mellow and welcoming atmosphere.

Cons: no valet

For a long time this was absolutely one of our favorite local eateries. No it isn't the best food, but it is good food. And the atmosphere is lovely. Here are the key failings. 1) the food is priced similar to some of LA's finest gourmet restaurants, and let's be honest .... this place does not fit that bill. 2) the wine (albeit generous pours) is mediocre and OUTRAGEOSLY EXPENSIVE. It is also rarely served anywhere near the correct temperature. How do they manage to serve red wine above room temp in the summer? Blech! 3) They just expanded and the owner (who is rarely there) drives a super fancy Mercedez "Hummer" SUV. Ok we know he has done well for himself. But to alienate your customer base with insulting prices for good (not great) product .... well, it just makes us hesitate to return. We used to sum up Blair's using the word "neighborhood". But I can no longer say which neighborhood it belongs to. Not mine, sadly.

I gave Blair's a 1 star rating based solely on the TERRIBLE service. I am a regular at nearby Edendale Grill. I had previously not been to Blair's as I had heard it was expensive. We decided to try Blair's this weekend and the terrible service ruined the meal. Our table was ready upon arrival. We had one tiny candle at a table of 4 and it was difficult to read the menu. We ordered a $60 bottle of wine as well as 4 appetizers, 4 main courses & 2 additional vegetable side dishes. After we finished our first glass of wine we had to pour out the rest of our bottle, which is common. Then a server brought 3 of the 4 appetizers. After asking different people a total of 4 times for my husband's soup, it finally arrived 15 minutes later, after our other appetizer plates had been removed. One of the times we asked our waitress for the soup (after 10 mins) she didn't even apologize for the delay, just blamed the kitchen. After the soup dish was cleared we asked a couple of times for the wine menu to order more wine by the glass. If the waitress had bothered to check our table sooner (even once!), we probably would have ordered another bottle, but it was getting later in the evening. The wine arrived quickly as our main courses were served, but the vegetables never arrived, nor did the veg included in my husband's chicken dish. Again, we asked about 4 times but still no veg. Our waitress was actually hiding from us at this point. We asked for the manager, but she wouldn't get him (or her). Not once did a manager even walk around to the tables to ask how everyone's meal was etc. This seems a common practice at even diners these days so we were surprised at the lack of management at Blair's. Our waitress took the veg off the bill as they arrived (and were sent back) after our meal was finished and the order was previously cancelled. Terrible service, especially for the price, and clearly management doesn't care. Pet peeve: DO NOT CLEAR DISHES BEFORE EVERYONE HAS FINISHED EATING!

Being an Eastsider, I have driven past Blair's a milllion times, read the favorable reviews and pondered the hype, but had never succumbed to actually making a reservation and going there. But one night my boyfriend and I spontaneously decided to have a lavish romantic meal and I suggested Blair's as it was only 3 blocks away and not been tried yet. It was such a good choice because this place is wonderful! They play jazz all night, have a decently priced wine list with one of my favorite malbec's, and all the food is precisely done. The interior is very comforting, warm rich saffron walls, sophisticated art, dark woods. The crowd was a little old for the Silverlake area--but I loved that! I am tired of going out to standard Silverlake dining institutions that have a lot of quirks and appeal ,but not enough class and style. Blair's makes up for that! I felt transported. I almost felt like I was dining in Seattle. This is a wonderful date night establishment. The only drawback is that the service was well-meaning but clumsy. Our waitress spaced out, constantly apologizing. It wasn't bad per se, and we didn't care, but I can see how this might make someone more aggro think that the service was dismal.

My second time at Blair's, very nice all around. I'm an avid home cook and frugal shopper, but will still throw down the $$ if it's celebrating time, which it was. My lady had the linguini, it was an adventure! I read a review posted here about being able to make their food at home. If you're stuffing your own sausage and making your pasta, mabye I could give your dis some cred, but you're a f---kin fool, lady! I had the short ribs & polenta and it was also off the hook. Not as experimental a dish as the linguini (which had artichoke and roasted corn), way more traditional, but had deep and complex layers of flavor (sweet, smoky, spicy).
As a holdover from the days of a much less gentrified silverlake I'm generally appalled by the arrival of overpriced, ill-concieved, and seemingly useless buisinesses that are popping up everywhere in the hood, but don't make the mistake of putting this restaurant in that camp. It's excellent food, and you have to pay for it. Period.
ps-the $42 malbec is great!

We read great things about Blair's and thought it would be hip and chic Silver Lake but it was staid and stuffy with not much going on. Food is good but way overpriced. The menu prices on their website are false and misleading. The decor was uninspired and the peach walls were intrusive. The service was okay but one waitress kept coming back to the table too much clearing our plates before we were finished but then we had to wait over a half an hour for our dessert. There are so many better things to do than to drop your money on a place with okay food that frankly I could cook at home just without the presentation. Expensive restaurants are not worth it. Stay at home or go to your local pub or at least walk up the street to Edendale for a more varied atmosphere.

Service was great, great atmosphere, and good food, but the mimosas were 15 bucks a pop. I mean if we were at the Standard or Shutters or Fess Parker, yeah, we'd expect 15 dollars a mimosa, but Blairs, in Silverlake??? The staff failed to let us know how much they were as a friendly warning, across the street on Sundays, Edendale Grill offers bottomless mimosas for 15 dollars a person and that is much more sane. I am dissapointed because I loved the atmosphere and the laidback feeling at Blairs. But as a embibing epicurian, I am afraid this is not the joint for me or anyone out to not break the bank at 10:30a on a Sat. I will review the dinner there soon, but already can tell you the mimosa are out. Lovin Silverlake, but if anymore places like this open up then the artists are bound to move.

Again, staff good, food good, atmosphere rocked (unlike most noisy LA places).

This is my favorite place in the Silverlake/Los Feliz area. I've been here twice and have been delighted both times - and have never had any trouble with the service, although I've never tried it on a weekend night. I've had the duck and the sweet potato gnocchi - both really tasty - and I've sampled a tablemate's linguine with Italian sausage, which was fantastic. Though it's been talked up in a few other reviews, I actually didn't think the truffled mac'n'cheese was that amazing - a little rich and gamy for my taste. Still, this place has the most consistent and well-thought-out food in the neighborhood, in a nice mellow space. It is quite pricey, so unfortunately it's best as a special occasion place, but in that capacity it more than satisfies.

My fiance and I have been anxious to eat at Blair?s for some time now. We decided to celebrate our belated Valentine?s dinner there, and made reservations for Sat at 8 PM. Upon arrival at 7:50, there was no one available to check in with so we went to the bar. From the get go, it was like pulling teeth to get anyone?s attention to even order a drink or to say we had a reservation. We finally got a drink, and sat at the bar another 40 minutes before we were seated. We ordered a bottle of wine, which went to the table with us. We stared at the unopened bottle for another 10-15 minutes before our waitress stopped by to open it. She actually joked about what a ?tease it was to sit and look at the unopened bottle for so long.? We had loads of time to look over the menu, so we were ready to order immediately. We started with the mac & cheese and a salad, which came very quickly and was quite delicious, but our entrees took an eternity. When the food finally arrived, it was not as we ordered it and sub par at best. I had heard so many good things about this restaurant that it was quite a disappointment. Our waitress barely checked in with us throughout the night to see how we were doing. I understand it was a Saturday night, but the place had really cleared out and didn?t seem all that busy. We ordered dessert, which again came long after it was ordered. When it made it?s to us it seemed as though it was frozen and they didn?t have enough time to thaw it out. We took one bite and asked for our check (the only thing that arrived in a timely manner). Our waitress must have known that the service and food were terrible because she comped our wine, appetizers & dessert without us asking. We knew it wasn?t all a figment of our imagination!!! Three long hours later we headed out and decided Blair?s would NOT be a repeat performance.

My wife and I made reservations 3 weeks ago for Valentine's Day (I know everyone is out that night, but . . .) at 8:30pm. The restaurant was packed and the table we were put at was a two seat high-boy in the bar by the front door. I asked if there was something in the dining room and was flippantly told that these are reservation tables as well so that's it for us.
The food was very good, I will give them that. But when your waitress brings the check with your dessert, that is tacky. I am giving her a very big break for lack of attention, which we received very little of, because of the crowdedness. But, a $200 meal shouldn't just buy you good food, it should buy you an experience. Even on Valentine's Day. On top of the whole thing, I have been sick to my stomach going on 2 days now. I was in perfect health before walking into that place.
My advice, go to Edendale across the street. Good food there, friendly, attentive service, better ambience and cheaper.
Sorry Silverlake loyalists.

My husband took me here for my birthday last night and I was quite pleased overall. The ambience was nice, quiet, warm (it was freezing outside), pleasant background music, and nice warmly colored walls.. This is exactly the type of place I would like to patronize. We ordered the truffled mac and cheese, because we'd read great reviews about it. It was delicious... but our entrees came out really quickly.. too quickly actually. I wouldn't normally complain about something like that.. but it we were out for a quiet fancy dinner.. and we didn't really get to finish the mac and cheese because we had our entrees out, warm and waiting to be eaten. My short ribs were AMAZING. It fell off the bone, it was incredibly soft and flavorful. My husbands sweet potato gnocci was good, but I think it was a little too soft for his taste. We had the cream filled doughnuts with coffee icecream.... YUM!!! the inside of the doughnut was seriously like having creme brulee in a doughnut, and it was the best coffee icecream i've ever had. I'd recommend.. but only for a special occassion... It really was quite pricey.

Had dinner here on a Sunday night. Did not have any problems getting seated. Shared the beet salad and mac and cheese as appetizers and they were both excellent. Mac and cheese can probably be shared with 3-4 people as an appertizer. Order two seafood entrees, the salmon and the halibut. Both were very tasty and very different from each other. The service was also very attentive but not too overbearing. I do eat out in LA alot and this had to have been one of the better experiences overall. Highly recommend it.

Went to Blair's on a friend's recommendation. We had reservations, were late, but still seated promptly. Service was prompt on a Friday night. Atmosphere was warm and cozy. The dining room is small and feels very intimate. We filled up on the delicious mac n cheese that we ordered as an appetizer. It was the highlight of our meal. We also had the braised short ribs and sweet potato gnocchi. They were good but rich. To top off the rich entrees, we had bread pudding, which was really tasty but pushed us over the edge! Overall, I'd recommend Blair's for a wonderful dining experience.

We went to Blair's first on a Tuesday without a reservation. The very small restaurant was quite crowded and the wait too long, so we went elsewhere. Next time, we made sure to make a reservation. The staff was extremely busy catering to the overcrowded patrons, but we were promptly seated. The restaurant was rather noisy. The menu was very short. The prices were moderately expensive, and the food was just OK.

I stumbled across Blair's a year and a half ago, and was pleasently surprised. I have been about 6 times since, and each has been great. Last night I had 12 people there for my birthday, and aside from some timing issues getting everyone's food out at the same time, the service was great and they were very accommodating for a table our size.

The fish dishes are always great, and the duck is fantastic. Must haves: Their Caesar salad with fried capers is incredible, and the side of Truffled Mac and Cheese is absolutely to-die-for.

I would gladly return many, many times (if I had enough money to do so)

Had dinner here for the first time with 3 friends. We had a reservation and were sat within 5 minutes (not bad for a crowded Saturday night). Our server was friendly & helpful, especially for our one vegetarian friend. The server offered to have certain dishes specially prepared for her. The caesar salad was quite good and the salmon was excellent. Seating is a bit cramped but still liked the ambience overall. We would have tried the brownie sundae dessert but they were all out unfortunately. Guess I'll just have to come back ... which I'm already looking forward to.

Place is crowded, loud, and a bit cramped, but really feels like you are in a different city, which is cool. Good, affordable, wines by the glass as well as many beers to choose from. Overheard conversations were not irritating like you get in Weho and the like. I pray this place doesn't get overrun by lame Hollywood poseurs. Service is very good and server's knowledge of menu is excellent. Portions are generous and salads were fantastic. My fish was cooked perfectly and my date's steak was gi-normous and she liked it a lot. Dessert was good, but not great. It was difficult giving her a piggyback ride back to the car afterwards becasue of the hilly terrain and my full belly.

Went here with a few friends last week and very pleasantly surprised. Didn't have to wait for a table, although the place seems a little small, so maybe weekends are busier. The halibut was tender with a very good crust, although the sauce was a little salty. Everything we had was excellent (braised short ribs, mac and cheese, homemade donuts, in particular) Good selection of beers, courteous staff, efficient service.

We decided to venture from the Westside to Blair's and it was well worth the trip! The service was outstanding and the food was excellent. I highly recommend the beet salad, as well as the halibut. It's a charming place, definitely busy on a Saturday night but we got in no problem with reservations at 8:30. Overall we really enjoyed it and will definitely be back!

Living and working in West LA, I rarely find the need to travel to the eastside. However, that is, unless you some of the best food in LA. From the salads (the fried goat cheese/beet salad is my favorite), to the entrees (the pork chop [about an inch thick and meat that falls off the bone!] and the duck top my list!), Blair's does comfort food just right. The wine list is amazing with many greats wines served by the glass. I have followed some of the recommendations of the staff concerning wines and have been extremely pleased with those suggestions. This is a place I return to again and again.

One of my new favorites. Great food, Great staff... GREAT wine. It is really a treat to go there. I prefer to go during the week, because Friday and Saturday there are packed! I only wish they would change the menu a bit more (often), I aslo wish they would offer more vegetarian friendly options; my girlfriend is a vegetarian, so she never wants to go.

We ate at Blair's last night and had an interesting experience. We were seated promptly at a nice table next to a door that had a rag stuffed in it to keep the out the draft. The squash soup was excellent. The French Fries were very good and the curried cauliflower was very tasty. My Atlantic salmon was fantastic. However, not long after our meal (really, about five minutes after they cleared our plates, and with wine still in our glasses) we were told that they needed our table and were asked to move to the bar (they offered us a glass of port as a consolation). The bar is noisy, crowded and unromantic. I guess I understand their position, but I was a little shocked. I guess if you're not chewing, you're not dining. So, I guess the food was very good, but you have to eat it quickly.

What an unexpected pleasure! The wait staff was friendly, unpretentious, knowledgeable and made us feel very welcome. The only downside to the restaurant is the tables are very close together: backing one's seat up often entails knocking into one's neighboring diner. However, this is nothing that would keep me from returning for the fantastic food; I can definitely see how the chef worked at the Water Grill. On to the important part:

I had the chicken with ratatouille, goat cheese and tapenade; it was fantastic! Also tried the crab cake appetizer which was good and well complimented by an unexpected Mandarin orange garnish. The brownie mint sundae was absolutely decadent, but maybe a skosh heavy on the mint.

As a compliment to the chef, the vegetables are beyond compare and some nights I will go in alone, sit at the bar and eat the broccoli and a salad with a glass of wine. If you are in the mood for decadence, try the truffled macaroni & cheese! My main favorite is the halibut and if I want to carbo load, the pasta with tiger shrimp is unreal! The wine list is unique and because there are several that are memorable, I find it hard to choose everytime I am there. Overall the service is good, but there are a couple of servers who are a touch chilly for my taste, but they are efficient nonetheless. And I would not reccoment Blair's for a large party. There was one there last night and the noise they made from four tables away was a little overwhleming at times.

The only thing I don't like about Blair's is that it wrecking the possibility of a diet. The menu is a melange of the best of the best. The ribs are incredible, the Caesars salad amazing and the desserts heavenly. The atmosphere is unpretentious and way better than any so-called Hollywood hot spot. It may be pricey for Silverlake, but its worth it. Wish it would become a late-night spot!

My husband and I have dined here many times, each time Blair's tops itself. We have brought many friends, they have all loved it. Every detail is perfectly executed from service, the food of course is so extraordinary and the desserts are works of yummy art.
We're taking my best friend to dinner there in two weeks to celebrate his b'day, can't wait.

My wife and I went there for the third or fourth time this past weekend and we've never been disappointed. Intimate atmosphere, excellent food and even better wine/beer/ale list, which is always changing.

Love this place. It can be a bit of a hit to the wallet if you're ordering expensive ales and the priciest dishes, but even then it's worth it -- plus you can get out cheaper if you're paying attention.

Heartily recommended.

The decor is great (a real step up from the Thai restaurant that preceded Blair's). The space is small but cozy. I was not impressed with the food, especially for the price. The short ribs (that were recommended by the server as the best dish in the house) tasted like my mother's stewed beef (i.e., great for a home meal but not a fine restaurant). The appetizer (also a recommendation) was bland. My companion thought the same of his meal. I was happy to have a new addition to the neighborhood and plan to return to give it a second try but in all, I was just not thrilled with the fare.

We were seated almost immediately with no reservations and the wait staff, while over burdened, was very pleasant.

I am so happy that Silverlake finally has a wonderful, urban bistro. I've been twice now, both times were great. I sat at the bar this last time, where the service is absolutely perfect (they are attentive without being overbearing), and the wine list is impressive. I ordered the tuna tartar appetizer and a friend had the portebello mushroom app, and for dinner I had the shortribs which came on top of a scoop of creamy polenta. The meat fell off the bone, the polenta was rich without being overpowering, the tuna tartar was fresh and sandwiched between two crispy wonton squares and the mushrooms were perfectly seasoned. Normally it takes awhile for a new place to get it right, but Blair's already got it all. I think it's a good place to go for drinks and appetizers only if that's what you're in the mood for.

This Eastside neighborhood restaurant draws an upscale Silver Lake crowd. Local foodies favor the shrimp cocktail and dilled deviled eggs as appetizers, or the roasted beet salad and yellowfin tuna tartare with a spiced ginger vinaigrette.…
