Can't beat it!!

by Scott K. | insider Insider | Rank: 32,268

Looking to work on your "short game"? Looking to find a little "get away" from the hustle and bustle of the 110 Freeway just a few hundred yards away? Looking to add a little spice to your daily walk?Arroyo Seco Golf Course is the place for you!! The only drawback for the "serious" golfer is that you are supposed to hit of of the astroturf mats on the tee-box of every hole. But the place is so well manicured, so nicely kept-up, and the greens are always lush (they could use a bit of a mowing as of this morning!) - for the price ($14.00 regular, $10.00 for Seniors) you just cannot beat it.There is a decently marked driving range (again - off the mats) and even a cheesy mini-golf course for the kiddies.Full service pro-shop - I've heard the golf pros and lesson plans there are first-rate and well-priced. And the coffee-shop/grill makes some really decent food.A real locals hang-out during the mid-week mornings. If you wanna complain about slow-play, this course is not for you! But if you want to spend a couple of quality hours with your short-irons...check it out!! The longest hole is 148 yards!

Miniature golf on a budget

by Jennifer N. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,665

This miniature golf course is awesome for anyone who is looking for some cheap fun. The mini golf course only costs about $2, and it's not very well lit and it's very small but for $2 what do you expect? It's good fun if you go with friends and are able to laugh about it at the same time. It's definitely worth making the trek out to just for a cheap fun adventure. The real golf course looks good too!

Arroyo Seco Golf Course

by Doug N. | insider Insider | Rank: 18,208

This golfing facility wasn't the standard 'hard-core golfers only' I've grown used to over the years. The putt-putt course and diner add a family feel. The short par 3 course is beautifully maintained and the practice putting green is huge. The only knock I have is the thin astro turf and rubber mats used on the driving range.

It's worth a shot!!!

by Katie D. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 9,785

This golf course is pretty laid-back and low-key and really, very pleasant. It's got a small little put-put course in the middle of it, which I imagine would be a nice place to occupy the kids while you practice putting. Though I didn't actually experience the course itself, it looked adequate. I went last weekend to the driving range. The setup was kind of bizarre with the tee stand at a diagonal angle but after a while I got used to it and everything was fine. Another plus, everything was fairly affordable, excusing my $4 hotdog.

PROS: no collared shirts necessary
CONS: weird driving range setup

Forget the full size course, the mini is "in-nee!"

by Joe R. | insider Insider | Rank: 13,041

The best 9 hole mini in L.A. Built decades ago and immaculately maintained, this course is the coolest! At $2 a game (yeah, you heard me--2 BUCKS!), this place is insane! With an adjacent coffee/pro shop and adult course, this is a great destination.

PROS: out of the way, quiet location, cheap, historical landmark (it should be!)
CONS: no baby-changing facilities

I really like Arroyo Seco because it is close to my house and the driving range is lit up. The staff there is very friendly as well. This is a par three course so you will see a lot of beginners and the occasional group of five. Also the holes are very close to eachother so it is easy to slice your ball and hit another fairway. All said, the price is right, and I would recommend it for some laid back golf.
