We've donated to them for the last 12 years so we wanted to drop in to see where it all goes! I was shocked by the size - the store is massive. I didn't know they only take cash so the owner of the ATM there must be thrilled. We were just killing time and left about 3 hours later. It could be considered a bargain hunters paradise if the prices weren't so high in comparison to other thrift stores. We saw some unusual items, like a big, framed tribute to Rod Stewart which included several concert tickets and cassette tape covers. lol GO! It's great entertainment and you might find something you've been wanting. The store is clean and nicely arranged.

Amvets in Escondido is down from Vons! they have so much selection..this place is massive! even though it can get kind of busy--it is definitely worth it. Great place to go look for costume parties and themed parties too!

This store is my source for gently used designer handbags - there are many fakes, so know your product before shopping. Prices are very high for thrift - but when securing nice handbags, well below retail. Certain days of the week items are half-priced based on ticket color. Super source for business wear, and many items I have found are new with tags still attached.

For being a thrift store the prices are sure are like shopping at North County Fair. I used to love shopping here and got good deals too. Amvet's has raised their prices so much for used item's, that sometimes you can go to a department store and find it cheaper. I would just rather buy new at a department store.

This is one of my favorite thrift stores in Escondido. It always has a plethera of new items to choose from. They even have items like drapes, rugs and full plate/dinner ware sets among all of the normal thrift store itms sold: clothes, shoes, books, toys, electronic items, etc. I always find a treasure to take home from there.
PROS: tons of new items all the time
CONS: aisles are crowded and a bit narrow

Having lived in Escondido my entire life, Amvets is a place where everyone goes. If you need something for a costume or just something to wear that no one else has, everyone knows, Amvets is the place to go. They have not let me down once.
