Well... I have to admit with the previous reviewer... although I hate to admit that I didn't learn my lesson the first time; I just had to return to this bookstore.... The first time I was meet with the same lukewarm welcome as before. I was informed that i would recieve half the price of the book, or exchange for other books in there store. As the previous reviewer i too took my box of books in good cond. and was only given 12 and some change for certain books the owner choose. I inquired as to why she wasn't interested in the rest of the books ( although my books were well- known authors and titles, to say the least) I wasn't bothered that she wasn't interested in them but out of the 6 or so books that are 12 to 15 a piece how do you get ( $12 and some chg.) So I dealt with it.
I inquired as to why they weren't interested in my books-- for future reference ( maybe it was certain types of books they were looking for i.e.) Nope it was because they had to many copies of the same books I was offering. That was unusual because as I was browsing I happened to notice the same thing -- double to triple copies of many titles ( you'd think if you were running a bookstore you would want several copies available to your customers ... right ... make sense) So i figured I'm not expert her maybe; there not in such demand anymore... so I bought my books used my 12 and chg, gave them a profit of 25+ left feeling a little jipped.... and bitter from the whole ordeal... vowing to never go back... Until last Saturday I went through my books discarded all the tiles I've already read, I decided rather them toss them, I'd take them back to Linda's it's been over a 1 1/2 so maybe things were diffrent and I was willing to give it all another chance. Def. recalled that musky smell... the oooh so quaint service, and sp, deals once again I was swiddled, this time I recieved $9 for my 5 paperbacks and left with a box full of good titles ( confirmed from the owner of The Bargain Books; get back to you on that ) Two very good things came out of Linda's Bookstore though, the first I replaced my daughter's Hand, Finger, Thumb by Dr. Seuss ( for half the price of the book, okay make it three things) Last but not least I was recommended to take my remaining books to Bargain Books off of Walnut and Acker straight from the lady that works at Linda's... so I did that. So if I give Linda a bad review I'll do my penace by recommending Bargain Books, super clean, nice area, it's even right next to shopping area, the owner was extremely cordgial, and this place actually does as they say, half price on there books, or trade, plus if you buy from them any books you buy from them are automatically accepted as long as there stamped with their logo. Your given a B.B card that after 10 purchases at $10 ea. you get $10 gift certificate. In addition every time you present this card you get 10% of your purchase; could ask for better.

I've been going to Linda's off and on for the last 7 years, I love it! It may be dusty and old, but aren't all old book stores? that's the appeal. I live 30 min. away, and will go there before other used book stores, bucause they have the largest, most organized selection of used romance novels I've found yet. I've been to every used book store in Fresno, Hanford, Visalia, and many other cities, and like Lind's the best. when I needed a book for my daughter home schooling while in the hospital she searched and saved me a copy. If you think her prices are to high, buy used books on line next time, and enjoy the $10 shipping fee for your 99 cent book. Way to go Lind's, you make me feel welcome even if it's been month's scince I've been there!

Pros: lots of books and friendly service

Cons: location

I really felt like I was ripped off at this bookstore!
I was getting ready to have surgery and faced a long rehabilitation phase where all I would be able to do was read. I found Linda's bookstore in the yellow pages. They advertized on selling and trading books so I had also brought several used books (in excellent condition) to trade.
First, the store was dusty and dirty, which I can forgive if well organized. It was moderately organized and the service was semi-friendly although I was the only car in the parking lot and only customer in the ?store.?
What I have a gripe about was the condition and prices of the books that they are selling.
First of all, they only gave me store credit of less than $1.00 a piece on the hardback books I had brought, still not a big deal. What really made me feel like I was cheated was that they she charged OVER $4.00 a PEICE for the yellowed falling apart paperback books in her store. And, they were not hard to find titles either just the run of the mill novels. These are the same books you can go down the street about a block further down and find for .50 cents at Salvation Army.
I had brought with me a large box of books that I was going to donate to Linda's books, but after that fleecing, I took the books down the street and dropped them off at Salvation Army.
It is one thing to make a profit, and I am all free enterprise: but to blatantly charge far more than the item is worth makes me cringe. No wonder this "book store" is overcrowded with books, no one in their right mind would go back a second time!
I would advise NOT shopping here for used books unless desperate and unable to find the book elsewhere.

Pros: LOTS of parking room, as there were no other customers.

Cons: Too many to name.
