The Wit's End used to have very nice food. The chef was from England. They used to have a very fun atmosphere. Now it is different - more like a tat-frat house. The DJ is not as good as the one they had before; that guy was cool.

Wit's End has great food (soups, sandwiches, etc) and a very respectable selection of draft beers augmented by a good selection of bottles. Plus they have 5 or 6 TVs that they are always happy to tune for your sporting enjoyment. During the day it is great. At night they have local DJs with more of a loud, club scene. Not really my thing, but I'm sure many people would think it's good at night too.

The food is good and they have a wide selection of beers, but the service is incredibly bad. What's worse is the owner's attitude about dealing with customers. I'll be amazed if this place isn't out of business within a few months.

PROS: food
CONS: arrogant owners and lazy staff

All of their food is made fresh and its both original and extremely tasty! Neil (the proprietor) makes the most delicious soups and Ive never had anything off of their menu I didnt completely love. We go there at least once a week and often see many of the same people there. It has a very family-like atmosphere, with everyone chatting about current events or the like. Striking up conversations with tables of complete strangers is not seen as at all unusual.

Neil and his staff go out of their way to offer the best service and by your second or third visit they really have learned and remembered your name, and if you become a regular (and why wouldnt you?) they learn your personal preferences as well.

Between the healthy, delicious food and the incredible atmosphere, this is a must add to your list of favorite places to eat!

Pros: Great Food, Great Beer, Great Atmosphere!

Cons: Family owned business means they are closed most big holidays.

I'd driven past the Wits End umpteen times before finally visiting this afternoon with a friend. Was pleasantly surprised. It's comfortable and refreshingly unpretentious. Decent selection of microbrew and international beers. Simple but yummy menu of appetizers and sandwiches.

PROS: Good selection of beers, good simple food
CONS: Limited parking (more a Hillcrest general problem)
