After reading the reviews on the trainer, I admit I was confused. But now, after seeing the ranting and raving response, I see things all too clearly. Her sociopathological retaliation has definitely opened my eyes to the truth.
Frances, you just gave yourself away. All of your clients past and present encourage you to get the professional help you desperately need. Best of luck to you as you navigate the road to emotional health and stability. Peace.

Safe and comfortable environment for women. Come as you are, workout in peace.

A great place to get you workout in after a long day.

When the previous owner left, we anticipated a new regime, minus the former strippers (you read that right). To be fair, some changes have occurred, but have been painfully slow in coming.
One thing that has not changed is who is running the show. The manager has a tremendous amount of power, and shows out-and-out favoritism. A few trainers are given all the clients while everyone else fends for herself. It is so obvious.
I was working with my trainer for some time and was very pleased with my progress. Out of the blue I get a call from the manager trying to "convince" me to go with another trainer. Why would I want to do that? I asked her. I am perfectly pleased with the trainer I have. I am the client you couldn't take away from her!
The reason this occurs is because IT IS ALLOWED TO. No one is policing the activity. Who signs the manager's paycheck? THAT is the one who should be disciplining her. But where is he? He is a ghost, permanently absent from duty.
What's worse is that the staff that is given most of the clientele are not the best of the staff. They have simply buddied up to the manager.
This harms clients who deserve the best possible trainer, not just the trainer who hangs out with the manager each weekend.
When members complain about loud classes, all they get are flippant responses from the manager. LISTEN...it's the sound of your members exiting because instead of listening to them, you are rude and sarcastic.
You have no right to complain about lack of business when it is you who are driving the members away in the first place. It is the members who are keeping YOU in business. Why are you driving them away?
Who is the new owner? Does he live in India somewhere?
This place is like a ship with no captain, adrift in the ocean. ATTENTION, OWNER: RUN YOUR BUSINESS. YOU GOT GARY OUT. NOW MAKE THIS PLACE YOUR OWN.
Get rid of the relic staff who are holdovers from Gary's reign, because they are doing nothing more than wasting members' time and money!
STOP the unprofessional favoritism and backbiting that IS the management. Are you so inept and dependent on your manager that you are afraid of her? You are aware that all of these things are taking place and you cover your eyes to the truth? At the expense of your own staff? That is shameful and pathetic.
Get your act together! You've had 3 years to turn this place around. Make it a professional environment the members truly deserve.

I had joined the spa but my membership expired. I was called about the specials and they even offered that I could make 2 payments. They also told me that they were under new management which if fine but I saw nothing different except for the canopies that they put up. The chairs for us to sit down are too low, very cheap. I really did go to do the aerobics water classes which are great. There were times that the pool was very very cloudy and they said it was because of the sun lotions that the women used was causing it to look cloudy. One would think that they could keep up the pool at a certain time and to let members know that at a certain time the pool would be closed due to cleaning and I'm sure they would have no complaints but they need to do it at a certain time and keep the same time always. The long foam water supplies need to be new.

I was very disappointed when I observed trainer Jennifer scold a co-worker for something extremely trivial - and what's worse, she did it in front of a roomful of people.
It was a ridiculous and humiliating moment for that individual and I took the opportunity to ask the employee specifically if Jennifer is her supervisor. "No, we are on the same level."
Let me just say that her behavior took a lot of gaul and showed her up as being extremely unprofessional, arrogant, and rude - and it was for the most ludicrous thing!
Is she the best instructor here? I don't think so. There are many others who are far more educated, knowledgeable, and kind. I cannot understand why she has been given such a favored status.
If Jennifer has an issue with another employee, the CLASSY and PROFESSIONAL thing would be to discuss it privately with that individual - not humiliate someone in front of a roomful of people!?! But then again, the issue was so ridiculous that it should not have been mentioned at all.
I have been coming to this gym for quite some time and the ladies who run this facility and work the front desk, as well as the rest of the staff, are very friendly and hospitable.
Jennifer's actions run contrary to this and made her look completely classless in front of a lot of people.
I think that when people get a little full of themselves - get a big head and start thinking they're better than others - they need to take a good hard look at themselves and ask why they feel the need to look down at others. Check your ego at the door, honey.

Oh, my! Soot on the ceiling fans an inch thick - pollution in the air when the fans go on! Cockroach corpses on display for all to see - illuminated brightly in the fluorescent lights above.
Cracked paint - wet floors in the locker room - accidents waiting to happen.
Shameful pilfering of plastic surgery by local butcher doctors.
Malfunctioning equipment. Building needs major overhaul and renovation. Don't drink from the water faucet! If someone flushes the toilet at the same time, guess what happens? Member complaints are met with sarcasm and indifference. It's incompetence in its most ignorant form.
We'll save money by not repairing this....and then they end up paying boatloads more money to buy a new one. These folks are the ultimate penny wise and pound foolish.
Who's running this place? Use the brain the Good Lord gave you. WAKE UP!!!!! Administration is asleep at the switch. No commonsense, no oversight, no horsesense.

Just when I thought I was at the height of my fitness, I overheard the spa owner (a woman) proclaim that I was the "gym rat." That was the rudest thing, or so I thought. Then as I left the gym another day the same lady and a trainer cornered and started pushing personal training. You know whet thier sales pitch was, "You are already in great shape, and personal training will get you 'there." I told them that I was not financially able to pay for the extra training, they told me to put it on my credit card. OMG like I'm not judged by a million men, and barraged by marketing all day long, I shouldn't have to deal with it at a "health spa."

I was a member about 17 years now. In fact, all the women in my fmily were members . However, a couple years back when the "New Owner" toke over they tired to charge me a new memebership fee. I thought to myself I've been here almost two decades and your going to do me like that . The most upsetting part was Michelle was the one pushing this, she was trying to charge me over $ 300.00 dallors for a one year memebership. Normally, that would get me up to three years . I mean come on dude these are hard times who has that kinda money certainly not me. Don't get me started about all the advertisements for plastic surgery right when you walk in. ( Really!) Do I need to feel worse about myself when I'm trying to work out. Overall, The Spa, was a great place to work out (back in the day). It was a intimate place where my family and friends and I could work out comtorbly with no hassles and reasonable prices. Offering a great selection of classes for every type of women. However, with their new policies of forcing high priced memberships down your thorat has basically pushed me to join a new gym.The Spa for Women should not pretend to be something they are not anymore. At least their corporate competor has cheaper prices.

Great classes, pilates, yoga, tone and very creative classes with combos. Jennifer is an awesome instructor, knowledgeable in all areas of fitness. Pro instruction at no extra cost. Yes, a lot of women come for relaxation, but if you are a serious physical fitness person, this is the place to obtain your goals. I am a member for two years, I enjoy being around women and not get "distracted" by the guys...I look at it as my "me" time, just for me and good for me.

I just renewed my membership when on the phone with sales women she said the a make over was in works. I am sorry that I spent the money the bathrooms are so small and only 2 of them. There is large clientele of larger women the chairs and lounges are not for larger women I have no place to sit why can't you get chairs with no sides and will carry me. without the fear I am going to break the chair. You can by chairs just for fat girls they are not that costly and will support 400 lbs'

I wish the management didn't pander to local plastic surgeons by covering entire walls with their ads. Now they are actually advertising Gynecologic plastic surgery! Disgusting!
Women are already made to feel inadequate outside The Spa's doors; our society CONSTANTLY demeans them unfairly to the point they feel they will never measure up (no pun intended). This is shamelessly wrong and ridiculous!!!!!
The last thing these women need to see are plastic surgeons staring them squarely in the face the second they walk over the threshold. It's the first thing you see in the front lobby.
Women need to feel safe and ACCEPTED in this environment, not judged and told they are not good enough. News Flash: That's why we left L.A. Fitness and the other meat market gyms - to get away from the microscopic judgments of our bodies and to feel safe, accepted, and comfortable - just as it SHOULD BE!!!!!
It seems to us that if the ownership truly embodies a Christian theological belief system, they would accept women as Christ created them and not pander to butchers who shamelessly use women's insecurities for petty profiteering!!!

I have been a member of the Spa since 1992, generally I am happy with my membership. The Spa is a place where women can work out in a peaceful and comfortable environment.

Today I was very disappointed to be told that there was a "special event" and that I would need to pay an additional fee to use the facility during normal hours (8 am) or that I would have to come back later. Very disappointing that a paid member for many years would be denied use of the club during normal operating hours.

The Spa should have sent a letter to all members informing them that the facility would not be available to members. This was a very bad management decision.

I enjoy The Spa. The idea of a place where real women can work out and not be harassed by sexist narcissistic men is the real plus here.
Only one problem: The instructor who teaches the Thursday night aerobics class actually YELLS into the microphone. The whole purpose of having a microphone in the first place is that it ALREADY amplifies the voice. You don't need to actually YELL into the microphone!
Unfortunately, the group fitness room is not separated, and actually part of a larger exercise room. Women working out on the elliptical machines and treadmills are being driven out of this room because they can't hear themselves think. I hope The Spa is not losing members over this!
To make matters worse, there is a speaker right by the door with that woman's voice BLASTING. I don't know if this woman has been yelling into microphones for so many years that she is now tone deaf, but no doubt in about 5 years her participants will be deaf. It's a small room, and there is no need for this.
In fact, I would bet she could be heard without even a microphone. She acts as though she is in Yankee Stadium and has to be heard by 5,000 people. There must be OSHA requirements on noise pollution! Doesn't she know this? Is she tone deaf? Will class participants go deaf?
P.S. Some of the members are complaining that they have to come into The Spa wearing earplugs.

I really enjoy the spa because it's strictly for women and I always feel comfortable, because I don't have to worry about men bugging me. The Spa is always clean and the employees are always friendly and helpful.

I'm a member of this Spa. It has many programs just for women. I really enjoy swimming, doing curves, doing weights etc. It is nice to have a place to workout when you feel you over did it. They are specialist working with women and their needs. The prices for membership varies. I have found that if you get a membership it is easier to keep going. Yes I would join again for a new membership.

I just joined this gym last week as a new start - so apropos - this gym is getting a new start as well. I had already been to the day spa in the gym, but thought it was a shame that the spa environment was so different from the gym itself - the spa is luxurious and feminine and the gym all grey and funky pink colors. Well, the woman who owned the day spa just bought the WHOLE gym and is revamping the entire thing to look and feel like the day spa. I am so excited! I have already been to a few classes and LOVE it. The vision and what it is becoming is WORLD CLASS! Plus, the membership is not as expensive as I thought it would be.

I have been going to the Spa for 23 years...since I was a teenager. I like that it is only for women because I get tired of dealing with those men at the gym just trying to find their next date. As far as instructors go, they have some great ones. Instructor/Trainer Z'Ava will push you farther than you ever thought you could go. She got me into the best shape of my life a couple of years ago. My only issue is that some of the classes get so crowded that it is hard to move around and get a full range of motion, and full workout. If they expanded the size of the class room it would be fantastic. There are some SERIOUS regulars there that are very territorial about their SPOT in the classes that they take daily...so don't even think about invading the front row ladies. They will throw out the looks and make sure you are squeezed out. I will agree with the other reviewer about the heavy duty sales pitches. They will tend to call you at home over and over and over and over to push training sessions, etc. If Jodi is still there in Sales, she is outstanding, sweet and helpful, but not obnoxiously pushy. Overall, a nice clean place with great music and cool outdoor workout areas. I will continue to work out there for year to come.

I've been going to this gym for a while, and it really works for me. I can concentrate on the classes and my workout and not worry about what I look like, and best of all the weight machines fit my body (i'm only 5'2" and normal equipment is sized for 5'7"). The class instructors are really great and will always answer your questions - but make sure to take it easy at first! Be assertive, ask a lot of questions, and you will get a LOT for your money - Just try to avoid the heavy sales pitches for personal training and the ads for plastic surgery (uggghhh) - this is a very good place for women of all ages, shapes, and sizes to get strong and healthy.

I hated gyms prior to this place--
mostly because the only all-women gyms I had seen were those resembling Curves and the like- but this is a real gym- wtih fitness classes, instructors, trainers, weights, a track, pool, the works. It's not that big, which provides a notion of comfort, and everyone is friendly. Only drawback- they try to get you to buy trainer workouts a lot...

This women's only gym is not fancy but I like the layout. It's like a mini-compound with an outdoor track and three workout areas and an outdoor pool and jacuzzi. The best part is that it's women only and therefore you can actually work out, getting red-in the face and sweaty and not really care. They have a kids babysitting room but the care providors are impatient and call if the kids even whimper. They make no effort to engage or play with the kids.

PROS: Women only
CONS: Not new and shiny
