The decor is very bohemian inspired and surreal. The door can be pretty rough sometimes (which makes for the right people getting in). S bar is a cozy spot...the size makes it a very intimate experience. Emphasis is on quality here... I always like a place where my drinks are served in high end glassware. The DJ booth is close to the bar so you can request your favorite song depending on the theme of the night. i promote this club on certain hot nights. For guestlist consideration send me an email w/ "S bar guestlist" in the subject, how many people in your party, a myspace/facebook link and contact info for me to get back to you my email is cjatthedoor@gmail com

Pros: classy, intimate, glassware

Cons: parking

Ok spot, nothing great going on here. If you like hanging out in a small room with loud crappy music and scenesters yelling into one another's ear, then you'll love SBar!! I've been a few times but have never had anything more than an ok experience. SBE has better properties than SBar, try Area for a better time.

Pros: Nice Design

Cons: Not much more going here than design

I went 2 Fridays in a row and had the time of my life both nights. The drinks are good, bottle service is reasonable....the place is small but cozy...decorated very nicely...like a 20's parlor....

Pros: people, music, hip scene, lots of celebs

Cons: small place

.

Me and my girls have been going to this spot on Mondays for a few weeks now and we always have a great time! The place is really small so if your looking for crazy night club this is not the place. Its more of a lounge but by the end of the night pretty much everyone is dancing. The decor reminds me of Alice and Wonderland its really amazing. They have some really cool drinks but the bar is a little pushy about trying them and they are a lil over priced. The music has been really different every time we've been but we always end up dancing :) They must just go off the crowd or something. They play everything from hip-hop and R&B to rock, house and even salsa! I think the crowd there is attractive, fun and kind of more on the upscale side. The workers there seem to kind of know us now since we've been frequenting this place lately and they treat us really well. We love this place and will be back for many Mondays to follow.

Pros: Good Music, Hot Crowd, Ambience is cool

Cons: Over priced specialty drinks, bartenders will insist you try them, which is annoying and this place is small

I was so excited to check out S Bar as I had heard good things from friends and the decor looked unusual and different. My date and I had no problem getting in, but once inside, the best thing about the place is the decor and the crowd overall is pretty good looking.

As for Music, SUCKY!!
The DJ started off playing the expected mix of hip-hop top 40 spliced with house, bad but expected, but he went from bad to worse...think Chris Christofferson, "ride like the wind" with Techno backing or Arrested Development, Everyday People. Nothing he played was more current than '92 and those weren't particularly good years for music....

Drinks
were fine...but the place is so small that there's not much space to drink them and forget walking around checking the scene....theres nowhere to go. Especially with all the table service going on and b*tchy waitresses trying to walk around you.

Crowd
was pretty attractive. From late 20's to late 30's. Not a young scene for sure, but definitely good looking, successful, fun. But because the place is so small, its pretty slim pickings.

Security
The place feels super safe and clean but there were like 7 security guys in there with wire ear peices.. a little much considering there were only about 75 people inside.

Overall, this place is dead. I'm glad there was no cover because it's not worth one. If you're looking for good music, give this place a miss. If you just want to hang out in a cool but small room and pay retarded amounts for table service, then this is your spot ;)

I went here with a group of friends. We were having a girls night out and were excited to check out this new "hot spot." We went on a thursday night and there was a small line - however the bouncers were taking their time letting people in. We waited about 45 minutes to get in (5 hot girls in short dresses, mind you!) and when we did, there was only about 15 people inside! the place was practically empty! We ordered some sushi and got some drinks. The food was bland. I expected a lot more from this place, given the hype it has. the drinks were ok - they had an interesting drink menu but we ended up sticking with wine because the drink menu looked better than it tasted. We thought we'd end the night by dancing but were unimpressed with the dance floor. If you go (which you shouldnt), be prepared - this place is VERY Small!!

Overall, it was a pretty bad experience and my friends and I WILL NEVER GO BACK.

Decided to check this place out since there was no line outside the door. My 4 girlfriends and i got in no problem. They offer bottle service and usually that is how u get in...but it seemed this place is on its way out and was empty. If u want to pay a couple grand for a table...Im usually all for it but definitely don't waste your money here...when a table can get you into any hotspot. The waitresses at this tired establishment TRY to rob u blind. I got charged for 2 drinks I did NOT order on my bill. IF i was a little more tipsy chances are i would not have noticed paying $140 for 4 drinks. But I caught the SUPPOSED "MISTAKE" and made the retarded waitress reverse the charges. FYI Expect to pay 18-40 dollars per drink. And if u order more than 3 drinks--a 22% gratuity is automatically added. MAKE SURE TO CHECK YOUR BILL

I can't comment on the actual bar because, like some others who have written here, I wasn't deemed worthy enough to enter the hallowed interior of S Bar. To be honest though, after this experience, I don't think I ever want to. I prefer to party at bars where the vibe doesn't remind me of the "you're cool, you're not" mentality of junior high.

I was supposed to meet some friends here for a few drinks on the early side of a Saturday night. I got there around 9:30...there was no line outside, but they had their velvet ropes up and at the ready anyway. I had read on this site and others that you didn't need reservations, yet when I approached the doorman he asked me if I had one. I gave him the names of a couple of the people in my party, but he was all "nope, don't have those names." So I texted my friends inside, and three of them came out to show that I was really meeting them, but the doorman wasn't swayed....even though there was no line, he kept saying it was "too late." I ended up standing outside for about 20 minutes hoping my friends and I could change his mind, but we didn't. When I left there was still no line.

Looking back, my suggestion is, if you're going to try this place, sock the doorman in the face and dump his body in the gutter. Otherwise, you're just gonna have to take your chances. A better plan is to pick another bar that isn't so elitist, a place where you're not going to have to worry about a member of your party being denied entrance on the basis of some unknown criterion that's made up on the spot by the jagoff out front holding the clipboard. There's plenty of places in Hollywood like that, but evidently S Bar is not one of them.

Pros: Realized I never need to party at S Bar.

Cons: Doorman ruined evening with friends.

This is a cool spot to go grab a few drinks before or after Katsuya (or wherever else you're going). The decor was cool, music cool, bartenders cool, door people cool. We went at 10:30 on a Friday and it was pretty chill. I don't know why one reviewer thought it was a problem that the door guy asked for reservations. He asked us if we had reservations also but when we said "no," he said "no problem" and let us in. The bar does take reservations if you want to reserve a table (but not bottle service), so I assume he was only doing his job. Drinks are overpriced for sure. But overall a fun before or after dinner drink spot.

A rainy thursday night. no line. the door guy still wants "reservations." gimme a break! There's no table service, no food, so reservations are just to inflate his loser ego. pathetic. This place claims it's for the neighborhood, yeah right, I've lived three blocks away for over two years, and this place is pretty much the neighborhood joke.

My girls and I had such an amazing night! We left Katsuya next door after a great meal and were encouraged to check out S-bar. The staff were very attentive as soon as we walked in. We fell in love with the gorgeous British Bartender! He gave me goose bumps. The cocktails were really different and interesting. The decor was grand, and the atmosphere was great. It was busy but not overcrowded. Hot, stylish people everywhere. Music was great mix of everything...80's, disco, hip hop etc. Just moved to L.A from the East Coast, and I'm getting excited about this town already!

Perhaps I will be biased with this review as I never made it inside. But I believe a good rapport starts with the front people who represents the bar, in this case the guy sitting at the door with the list (whatever he calls himself) and his buddy wearing a suit. I was invited by a friend for private birthday party on a Saturday night...so off I went with the bf. Guy in front asked for the name, gave him the name but he said "we don't have that name on the list". My bf asked the guy if I can go inside to check while he waits for me outside but guy refused. I gave another name, and he said "we don't have that name either" ---without even checking the list. Half hour later I got the correct name, this time the name was on the list but guess what he does, instead of letting us in he calls another guy to speak to us. This other guy tells us that they can't let us in as there are already enough people on that particular group inside. At this point we didn't even bother, we just turned away as we new of a place around the block where we are always on VIP-list. But seriously, what kind of boloney was that?! Clearly they had no intention of letting us in, they need to work on their people-skills. We were dressed upscale, but ya'll shouldn't bother as other people were in jeans. I should give this place a half-star but to be fair, again, we never got it in. I might have had a better experience inside (given the chance). I guess we'll never know. We're going back to The Edison in downtown LA where customer service is superb!

Pros: Right on Hollywood Blvd.

Cons: No Valet, Bad customer service, Reservation-only (or does it matter?)

.

The space is tiny, it's mostly filled up with tables. The bar is nothing special. The crowd was lame but maybe another night is better than Thursday.

It's a good place to hang out with a group of friends if you've reserved a table. There's not much space to stand and talk in.

The doorman was cool though.

We were in town for the weekend and wanted to head out on the town for the true "LA nightlife scene"....we had rented a limo and our driver knew the doorman and one of the ladies inside S Bar. From the outside it didnt look like much, but inside is a very swanky, cool bar with a hip vibe. While there isn't a dance floor the music mix was great and kept the energy up. Our group was feeling especially cool when we got in the bar before Dave Navarro (we were shocked that we walked in right past him while he was in line!) - I am not sure how that happened but obviously our driver did something right (either that or Dave is just a nice guy letting the "regular folks" in before him). Great time, great service - I would highly recommend going there! It was a fun start to a great evening!
