Best Breakfast with a View

by Sandy G.

Generous portions, family atmosphere and a wonderful view round out a nice location for breakfast along the coast. Fabulous way to start your day. Get there early, but if you don't. it's worth the wait.

Great place for brunch

by Emily D. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 6,689

The Brockton Villa sits on the coast of La Jolla with some spectacular views of the ocean. They take reservations, which are recommended to ensure a table with a view. The breakfast menu has lots of delicious options, the coast toast is particularly delicious. They also make a great latte. A definate plus is that the restaurant is not very expensive considering the view and the gourmet menu options. Breakfast for 2 was $33, not including tip.

Gorgeous view, great food

by Cassie E. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,075

This restaurant has a gorgeous view of the ocean. My husband and I had a table overlooking the ocean on an outer patio, though I doubt that there's a bad view in the whole restaurant. The food was really good and worth the price.

Great views and breakfasts

by Lauren M. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 119

I like to bring my friends here for breakfast when they visit from out of town. They're always really impressed with the gorgeous views. The only problem is parking -- it's almost impossible to find a space.I recommend going there on a leisurely day when you have time to park far away and walk there.

Perfect Villa

by Teresa N. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,656

I adore this place. It is too easy to fall in love with this restaurant and come back forever. I've actually only had breakfast here. This place is amazing. It overlooks La Jolla Cove. The atmosphere is wonderful, overseeing the cove, the sealions, and the ocean. The restaurant looks like a small villa on the beach, so you feel like a guest. Guests can either choose to dine outside on the patio or inside the "Villa." You actually can see the chefs in the kitchen window, because the establishment was set up to look like they are cooking inside the house. The food is amazing, ranging from Latin, Greek, Italian styles and variations among the dishes. There's about a dozen dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner each. I had an Italian Steamer when I was there, which included an Italian styled omelette, potatos, sourdough toast, and melon. It was a divine plate. And typically, restaurants like these along the ocean shore are more expensive. This place is comparatively more reasonable. An average plate ranged from 10-12$.

PROS: Villa atmosphere, the ocean, price, world class food.
CONS: Sometimes, there is a sealion scent from the cove.
