Nice little sit down Mexican place located in Poway. This burrito was recommended by a friend who lives close by and always eats here.

Shrimp Burrito Review: (3/3/2010)

Ingredients: Shrimp,rice, sauce.

Size: 8/10

Burrito is about above average in size. I took the picture with the plastic fork so you get an idea of how big it is.

Taste:8 /10

Really good tasting burrito. I like the rice they used. Reminds me of Popeye's rice texture and taste.

Will I Get Full? 8/10

Yes, you will get full. Burrito did the job and satisfied my hunger. As an added bonus they give chips and salsa with your order.

Shrimp count: 14

Only 14 shrimp, still trying to find the average amount most shrimp burritos have. I've seen a range from 12 to 19 so 14 is on the lower side.

Recommend? YES, they don't go skimpy on the burrito, the food quality is great. Friendly and relaxing environment.

Price: $5.89, after taxes $6.34 (So far the most expensive burrito I've reviewed, however the quality makes up for it. Also the chips and salsa is a great bonus.)

Pros: Chips & Salsa

Cons: Most priciest burrito reviewed so far

I couldn't get enough of the carne asada tacos when I was pregnant - just the meat and tortilla with a little salsa was enough to fill me up and the meat was so flavorful that I didn't need anything else on it. I haven't tried it yet but I have heard great things about the diablo shrimp burrito, unlike most places, they actually get it reasonably spicy!

I tried the diablo shrimp burrito last week and it was pretty good. Lacking a little in creativity and portion size, it was still enjoyable and didn't anger the bowel gods. Slightly pricey, but average I guess for a lower volume restaurant.

Pros: Made fresh as you wait

Cons: Smaller portions and a little pricey

Tried El Patron, Scripps Ranch when they first opened approx. 3 years ago. Tacqitos were great!
Family and friends stopped by everytime we were in the area, 2-3 times a week.......!
Went to Seattle for 2 years, came back and.............operators got greedy, jtocquitos are just like the other thousand "taco shops" in everywhere USA.
Might as well buy 3 dozen frozen from Costco.
What a shame!!!

El Patron recently opened in Scripps Ranch, and I am not quite impressed. The proportions are very large and you definitely get a good ammount of food for your money, but the flavor seems bland to me. To test if you are a real man, I suggest trying to take on the grande burro. I think it is about 1 pound of burrito madness.

This is as good Mexican food can be in Scripps Ranch. The prices are very good for the portion sizes and the food is great. A must have at El Patron is its "Grande Burro" which consist of chicken, beef, corn, beens, red sauce, with a bunch of other goodies all into a double wrapped piece of heaven. I dare you to finish it. The food preparation is pretty fast and your food does come warm. Personally, I prefer El patron over Chile Peppers, but I'm part of a small population that do so.
