Tlc Veterinary Ctr is Rude, Cold, Uncaring
by macon a.
Dr Roberts, very antagonistic and not experienced with rabbits. Actually harmed more than helped. Made my rabbit suffer in painful convulsions during a slow period. Double charged and tried to charge for unnecessary medicine. Rude staff.

Tlc Veterinary Ctr has problems with communication and customer service
by A Man Z.
Poor customer service. Their office staff has poor communication skills. The front desk does not accurately reflect what is going on in those back rooms. We had an appointment for a teeth cleaning, but then found out several other animals were set up for exactly the same time.
It seems TLC management believes customers should be willing to wait all day (sort of like waiting for a cable installer to arrive). They originally told us it would be around 45 minutes. My husband finally had to go to work, and I went home to get the other car. By the time we were done it was more like 2 and 1/2 hours.
It's a shame, because they seem to have a lot on the ball. If only they could work out the back-room-to-front-desk communication and the customer service.

Love Those TLC Doctors
by william b.
I love the TLC doctors. Not only are most of them young and female and cute - a plus, but smart, sensitive and thoughtful. The hospital is very clean and modern and smells good. The nurses are very nice and knowledgeable. The reception desk gets a little overwhelmed at times, but they do a good job. I highly recommend TLC. WB

The waiting issue solved.
by JL S.
great vets. Good care, they know what they can do and cant do. You have to have an appt and you will not have to wait. Folks, an appointment. If you don't have an appointment and walk it, then you wait unless its critical care. Its like an emergency room in that sense. If the dog or cat is critical they trump your cat or dog. Thats how it works. They are more expensive, they are OPEN 24/7. That is not a vet clinic its a hospital. OK, I am done. I am a long time parent of a patient.

Love the Doctors!
by Fransisco R.
I love all of the doctors at TLC. I have seen them all over the last two and a half weeks, after my cat was hit by a car. From the first time I walked in the door (more like ran) at 9pm (yes they are always open!!), to surgery, to hospitalization to re-checks, all of the employees of TLC have been fantastic. I cannot thank them enough for their compassion, great veterinary care, and love of animals. This is truly a great vet hospital.

TLC = Terrific - Loving - Conscientous
by Lurdes S.
TLC, besides standing for what everyone knows, stands for terrific loving conscientious. The staff treated me so nicely when I showed up with my dog who had been hit by a car. From the time I walked in, they were professional, compassionate and kind. The doctors were informative and explained all the problems my pet was facing - lots of them - and they took great care of him. I am ONLY using TLC in the future, and hopefully only for little nice things.

Nice Doctors - Smells Clean
by Bill G.
A veterinary hospital that smells clean says something about the operation - professional. Add that to a really nice team of doctors, an above average (but not great) reception desk, and convenience, you get a A. I have used TLC for emergency care and regular (?) routine stuff, and have been very happy.

Thanks to TLC, My Pet is Alive!
by Scott L.
Thanks to TLC, my pet is alive today! After ingesting poison from my neighbors backyard, my old veterinarian was clueless. He just said to go home and that my dog just had an upset stomach. Well, two days later, that was not the case and TLC figured out that my dog's condition was serious. The doctors were great (I mean all of them - my dog was there for 1 week) and the staff is very kind. The whole staff knew me by name, provided that personalized touch and I am a HUGE FAN. I can't think of a better hospital than TLC.

Go TLC

Dr. Lu at TLC is wonderful, but then again, so is Dr. Roberts. They both have been exceptionally kind and caring to me and my pets. I like the hospital, it is modern and clean. No smells like most other clinics I have gone to. I really feel comfortable and confident in their care.

Great Hospital

TLC deserves its name. The reception staff is nice, as are the doctors. I always feel my pet is in good hands with them. I like that they are always open, and that I can always find a caring doctor to help me. I would like my doctor's office (for humans) to be like TLC.

Disappointed at best
by Anonymous
I couldn't even get a diagnosis until I agreed to an outrageous sum of fees. After that I could find out what they might be treating my pet for, and how much more those things could cost. I was not able to speak to the vet again until the technician and I had agreed on the fees. I felt like I was in the "closer's box" in one of those cheap car dealerships. I left feeling embarrassed that I had been unable to get medical care for my pet. Later that day, at a neighborhood gathering, I met a physician who had an almost identical experience.

Fabulous Vets
by Anonymous
I really appreciate the fabulous care I receive at TLC. The doctors are so nice and knowledgable, as well as the staff. The hospital is located in a nice, clean, modern building. They can take care of your pet with a doctor (unlike most hospitals) 24 hours a day. I find they are expensive, but worth the money. And, compared to my last vet, not anymore expensive at all!

I have read the past few reviews, and feel like I am on a different planet. Everytime I go to TLC, I receive prompt, courteous service and my pet excellent veterinary care.
The facility is clean, smells good, they serve free coffee/hot chocolate/tea, have tv's to watch while waiting, many magazines to read, and nice front desk people.
I really recommend TLC. They are open 24 hours, and always are there to help!!

Our dog had a tear in his paw- seems normal. We took him back there six times each time with a different vet with a different diagnosis, price and recommendation. On top of it all, they are expensive, 8 week later and hundreds of dollars later; his paw is still RIPPED!!!!

I have spent alot of money at TLC and have always felt it was well spent. They have the technology and expertise that I have not found elsewhere.
TLC is the only place I would bring my 2 dogs and 1 cat. With the hospital being open 24 hours, why would I go elsewhere?

What a Great Place
by Oren F.
I have gone to TLC in South Pasadena for the past 18 months or so. During this time, I have only had positive experiences.
I have found the doctors to be caring and to be sincerely interested in the health of my pet. I have seen several doctors, both for routine and emergency matters.
The front desk staff are a little overwhelmed at times, but they are very accomodating and professional. The nurses are great, and are very knowledgable.
I highly recommend TLC. I am at a loss as the the negative reviews I have seen posted - I know that they are a very busy hospital and believe based on my experiences these are isolated events.

I THINK THEY ARE GREAT !
by Jennifer N.
yes it is pricey, but what isn't when it comes to medical care ? they can't work for free or perform tests for free ! The doctors and the staff are wonderful. I think they do a great job of calming and dealing with worried pet parents, they aren't psychologists, but then they don't need to be. The doctors are wonderful, I saw Dr. Lori and Dr. Desaurios and they were great....and Dr. Wallace called me and was just as sympathetic. I thought I was going to lose my little baby and they turned her condition around. They have to do tests, and tests are expensive, it's just a fact. I took her to another vet in Arcadia, and the guy wanted to have all her teeth extracted ! I had a big bill with TLC, but I expected it for the care and treatment my baby recieved. People need to be realistic....if you go to a discount doctor you will receieve discount care...plain and simple. If you needed plastic surgery, would you go to a doctor that offered a coupon just to save a few bucks ?

Great Care - Great Staff
by Barbara H.
I have recently moved from my vet of 4 years to TLC because they are simply better. They have a modern clean hospital that is packed with cutting edge equipment (I am a human nurse, so I know).
They are open 24 hours with doctors and nurses round the clock. I was always able to visit and call for status reports. I felt confident in the care the nurses gave, as well as their knowledge.
What can I say. I was so impressed I moved all of my pets to TLC for care. Go TLC!!

Saved my Puppy's life.
by Anonymous
My puppy was stung by a bee. I called TLC to tell them his face was swelling up quickly. They said bring him in immediately. I got there, they rushed him in and gave him medication to stop the allergic reaction. His airway could have closed off completely if they didn't react so fast. I found everyone there to be compassionate and helpful.
I've been going there for 5 months for all his puppy shots and check-ups. I've never waited long and have always received great service from the employees.

Are we all talking about the same place???
by Anonymous
I see two completely different viewpoints for this place! My experience with them, so far, has been very good. My dog (a great dane) is still there as I write this. Overnight, he developed bloat, an extremely painful, life-threatening condition common in great danes. I rushed him to Eagle Rock Emergency clinic at 5:30 a.m. on Friday. While they were very good at bringing him out of his shock and stabilizing him before his needed surgery, they would not do the surgery because they would be closing soon and it would have gone "over their closing time at 7 a.m. I was expected to transport him to another hospital for the surgery! They recommended Chat Oak in Woodland Hills or some other clinic on Ventura Blvd. By this time it was 6:30 a.m. on a rainy Friday morning. You can only imagine the traffic I would have encountered with a dog who was near death! I overheard one tech mention TLC in South Pasadena and told them that it was much closer for me than those other two places. I called TLC and they found one of their doctors, Dr. Davidson, who had not even been in yet, and said she would come right away to perform the surgery. When I arrived, a tech met me in the parking lot and assisted me in getting my dog into the clinic. They were all really nice. The doctor explained everything thoroughly. After the surgery, the doctor called me immediately to let me know that all went well. I was allowed to call to see how he was doing, as much as I wanted. They even let me bring his bed in for him. My over-all experience was excellent. Yes, pricey, but when my pet's life was the line and there were no other options, they came through for me.

Thank You TLC
by earl l.
With the recent pet food scare, I was convinced my dog was sickend by eating tainted food. It turned out that he was not, but he was diagnosed with something else that needed treatment.
The doctors at TLC that I saw were so kind and patient. The hospital is clean and modern. They have specialists on staff and they are able to practice very impressive cutting edge medicine.
And, to boot they are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The only criticism I have is that sometimes you have to wait, but, once you are in, they treat you as if you are their only client.

Saved My Dog Where Other Vets Failed
by Anonymous
Doctors at TLC are very dedicated and caring - and, THEY ARE VERY GOOD.... The doctor at TLC who initially saw my dog (after she was not getting better from the recommendations of another vet), figured out her real problem and correctly diagnosed a very serious problem. My dog was hospitalized for the better part of one week, and I got to interact with most of the TLC doctors, who are all great.
I highly recommend TLC. They are worth every dime you spend.

I went to TLC with my 13 year old dog. Who unfortunately had a very serious ailment that involved neurological impairment. I decided to euthanize her. The team was very compassionate. They did not rush me, they thoroughly explained what would happen. They gave me the option of remaining in the room or exiting the room. Very good end of life care.

LONG wait and unfriendly staff
by Dawn D.
I have been new to the area for about a year now. I have been looking for a good vet and this one was conveniently located for me. That was the only positive. I went to this place a few times to give it a chance, but everytime it was the same. The "LAST" time I had my cat there for a teeth cleaning. When I dropped him off, no one came to the front desk for 20 minutes and then they didn't have him down for the appointment. They then questioned me as if I had made the mistake! Finally, after I insisted I wasn't crazy, another tech found my appointment. When I went to pick him up, I waited for over an hour just for them to bring my cat out! (And...no one could give me any answers). $$$$$ expensive too!

Over-Charged, Unpleasant Staff and unfriendly
by benjamin C.
They overcharged and recommend unnecessary procedures, wanting to keep my pet for 2 days, which was going to cost me over $1000. I ended up getting the min. and my pet was fine, just an upset stomach.
I've gone to other clinics and my pet always behave normal after the visits even after surgery. For some reason, after TLC visit, he behaved scared and very unhappy.
Staff was unfriendly and unpleasant to talk to. I guess all they care about is making $$$. TLC??? I don't think so. Long story short. DO NOT GO THERE!

I really like this clinic. The doctors are all really nice and professional. I am sorry you had a bad experience Melissa. I know Dr Sohn as a vet and she is a WONDERFUL doctor. She cares so much for the animals. She always goes over the details so well with her clients. There are also specialists in the building that the doctors can consult with. I'm sure that there is the occasional misunderstanding from the medically challenged client. Pay their negative reviews no mind. This place is great!

Perfect - If your family member is just happens to wear a Dog Suit!
by Stephanie W.
If your pet is just that - perhaps this isn't the place for you. Our dog is the fifth member of the family and we feel very lucky to have found TLC.
Before our dog was a year old, she had broken her leg, swallowed a razorblade, lost a claw, had ear infections, and finally developed juvenile cataracts. Despite all of these problems, our dog still happily enters the doors of TLC and is greeted by all of the staff members by name. It's like walking into CHEERS. My Vet is terrific - great doctor (and therapist for a stressed owners). Wish I could find a family doctor that would great me with such friendliness when I have an emergency in the middle of the night.

24 Hours of Loving My Pets

This hospital has it all. From doctors that are actually there 24 hours a day all the way down to vaccines for my pets.
I have gone to TLC for both normal things (vaccines, dental...) as well as for emergency service. The staff is great. The front desk at night (during the emergency hours) is busy and not as chatty as during the day. But, your pet is the number one priority and it shows, no matter why you are there. Dr. Tesauro and Dr. Wallace are my favorites. I have seen Dr. Sohn too, who is also great.

I have been to a few vets in my animal owning lifetime. TLC is by far the best (not perfect) hospital I have ever been to.
TLC offers everything. They are open 24 hours. They have specialists that share space with them, so they are available too.
The staff is very nice and appear to care. The doctors are fantastic. The only con is I have had to wait about 20 minutes to get in - which can get frustrating. But, once I am in, the doctors have treated me like I was the only person in the hospital. I am sold.

Patience = Compassion and Care
by Susan A.
TLC is a busy 24 hour practice. Just like human er's, sometimes there is a wait. However, once you are in the room with the doctor, you get exceptional care. I chuckle at the reviews which complain about a wait for their pet to get seen, yet it is a given at a human er???
I love TLC. They care. They have great doctors - they also have lots of technology. Again, similar to a human er!!
I would only take my pets to TLC, and don't mind any wait. Dr. Tesauro and Dr. Wallace are great.

Tender loving care?????
by michele m.
I have been going to TLC for years... through three dogs and many doctors. I have paid thousands of dollars but have never been happy about it. The front desk is always overwhelmed and not well informed. There is always a wait, even when I had to euthanized my dog. The doctors, though good, especially Dr, Tesauro, are very cautious, always with the tests and the estimates. I have rarely been in there and paid less than $400.
Its not like having a trusted vet... its run like a busy impersonal boutique hospital. But its the prices that are
ridiculous especially because you don't receive the kind of tender loving care you are paying for.
PROS: 24 hours
CONS: overpriced

Great Medical Care - Lots of Compassion
by Lauren L.
I have gone to many animal hospitals with all of my pets over the years. TLC is the best hospital I have gone to. State of the art (ultrasound, laser surgery, digital xrays and operating rooms that look like human ORs).
They are open 24 hours a day, so my pets get around the clock doctor care. They are a little more expensive than some "day clinics", but the quality difference is discernable as soon as you walk in.
The staff is great. Sometimes you may have to wait a little at night as the ER is busy. But, your pet will get the best care anywhere.
PROS: High quality, state of the art vet care. Nice staff.

More for money than animal care
by Theresa G.
My dog was yelping because she had somehow hurt one of her hind legs, so of course, concerned, I took her to the vet. I didn't mind the fact that they took x-rays, nor did I mind that they weren't able to find anything wrong with her. I figured that at least I had peace of mind. However, the vet insisted on giving her injections to hydrate her a little more, and at this time I wasn't told any type of fees for their service. Kind of like how mechanics tell you what needs to be done to your car before going through with the repairs, the doctors are supposed to let you know how much things may cost and which are detrimental and which you can do without. Imagine my surprise when I get a $500 bill, and for them to tell me that my dog was fine! Their staff was completely unprofessional and I've taken the liberty of reporting them to the Better Business Bureau.
PROS: None
CONS: greedy, unprofessional, out for your money

Deserves nothing less then 5 stars

I had to sign up when I saw the reviews...
My pets are family members. They will be taken no-where else. They could have me wait on hot coals to talk to the reception staff and I would still take my pets to see them, especially in an emergency. If the front desk is swamped theres a reason for it and I've been there enuf you WILL be seen. If your pet has a true emergency they will drop everything and make sure your pet has priority.
South Pasadena prices, but you will feel like youve taken your pet to some prestigeous medical school.
The Vets make you feel comfortable and are obviously well trained, love pets and know how to talk to owners too.
PROS: best pet hospital ever
CONS: expensive (worth it)

My beolved beagle "Daisy" had a condition a while back and I took her to TLC to be treated by their veterinarians. I found them to be quite understanding and they diagnosed and treated my baby dog for her ailments (which other vets had problems with previously). Now my beagle is 12 years old and her life has gotten much better since the vets at TLC took care of her. I owe them a debt of gratitude to say the least!
PROS: Good staff
CONS: Somtimes it is hard to get an appointment
