Gold's gym downtown is more than just for working out, they use it for a hang out place too

The guys who work there are awesome... let's just say that they know how to make you feel good (really good!) about going there, especially in the private tanning rooms ;)

This gym is in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. It is the perfect location for downtown business-people as well as the many students who inhabit the area.

I like this gym a lot. I was with L.A. Fitness for several years and Gold's is much better. The service is more professional, the equipment is more advanced and better maintained, and there are other perks: great classes, clean locker room and showers, complimentary towel service, complimentary shampoo and shower gel, steam room, sauna, lap pool, and jacuzzi.

One big plus is a small women-only workout room. There's also a boxing ring, smoothie bar, and three different channels on the TVs overhead. The interior is decorated with a nice, upscale look. The atmosphere is mellow, I think because the people there are serious about working out.

The spa next door to this gym gives discounts to the gym members.

Prices for Gold's are reasonable, but I would recommend signing up during a promotion or bargaining with the salespeople during sign-up.

PROS: Tons of perks
CONS: Not the most convenient unless you live in Downtown

I am mainly reviewing the Gold's Gym juice bar, which has been helpful when I have had to get lunch after dental appointments. Their selection of protein and juice shakes are really good, made on the spot. The staff are all courteous, but I would say that it is a somewhat intimidating place to walk into, since everyone who works there looks buff. I don't know what they can do to make more "normal" customers feel welcome. Perhaps have hire staff with more diverse body types?
