Really piano people??? You failed to mention that another guest had changed the minimum bid, starting at $500 instead of $4,500. You were very childish when the situation was explained to you - for some reason you thought you deserved

Attended their annual fundraiser/auction and we were the winning bid for the Baby Grand Piano. We checked out that night, paid, received our receipt, but when we tried to arrange for pick up of the piano, they would not release the piano because they felt the bid was too low. We were treated as if we were trying to cheat the church and we were told that they did not have to honor the receipt because they had not actually charged our card that evening

Pros: Great evening/lots of items for auction

Cons: Never got item even though we were winning bid and paid

Our family has been a member of this parish since 1972. We have seen many changes from a pastor who was afraid to raise the school's tuition for fear of some families not being able to afford a Catholic education to where we are today with a new school, pastoral center and the tuition much higher, BUT a school very much in demand. Holy Family is traditional, but always welcoming to a more contempory flair for services. With the exception of the 6:30am Mass, all the Masses are standing room only. Msgr Connolly brings them in, but once there, the other dedicated priests keep them coming back. The parish community embraces it's theme "all are welcome" to every person walking into its doors. The church is very involved in the community of So. Pasadena, supporting a much poorer parish in East Los Angeles and supporting Catholic schools in Haiti by sending clothes, educational materials, sewing machings, toys which are donated by the parishioners and people from outside the parish. It is truly a giving parish.

I've been a member of Holy Family for the past four years and it is the best church I've attended so far. My family enjoys Monsignor Connolly's sermons which are quite of academic - comparing the differences between the same passages in the different books of the bible. The 9:30 am Sunday mass tends to fill up quickly so get there 10 minutes ahead of time.

PROS: Great pastors, great community and great sermons
CONS: Crowded masses

Holy Family Catholic Church is a quaint little church that I attended for a couple of years while I was living in South Pasadena. It's a great place for families, and the priests there have a good sense of humor, which is always a welcome change from the stiff by-the-book priests. My only complaint would have to be their mailings...they are constantly sending stuff in the mail to me asking for money. The funny thing is, I've moved two different times, and they are always the quickest to track me down even though I haven't updated my address. Other than that, it's a great place to go for any Catholic.

PROS: great for families
CONS: too many mailings asking for money

My family lives in South Pasadena and when I come to visit on the holidays, I go with them to Holy Family. It's a small community church that has a school with it. There are a lot of family oriented activities at Holy Family and I have attended some of there functions. They have a choir that is always looking for new members. Over the years there have been quite a bit of renovating making this little church pretty immpressive with all of the new services it is now able to offer.

Please go and visit Holy Family.

PROS:
CONS: Parking lot fills quickly, esp. during the holidays.

Holy Family is a traditional Catholic church with a large congregation... with a surprising large amount of young people and families. The pastor is a fantastic speaker who brings a wonderful Irish flair and perspective to all things holy. Be careful with where you park... the South Pasadena police are not very fogiving...
