Stacy's strongest areas are their computer and business sections, you can find just about everything worthwhile and inprint in those two subject areas. I enjoy their Sci-fi/Fantasy section as well.
PROS: Easy Public Transit
CONS: Parking

Amazon is cheaper, but it's much more fun to browse in a bricks-and-mortar shop. Stacey's has a very comprehensive computer book section. Checkout is efficient.

This store looks modern and classic at the same time. With its neon sign, you know it's been around. Otherwise, it does look up to date. Besides coming in person, the store does accept email, telephone, or fax orders. I phoned in an order for a math study guide and I picked it up at the store the same day. That's convenient! Many famous authors have done signings here too. If you need help finding a book, just ask a staff member. You'll enjoy the experience whether you're browsing or buying. If you are a supporting member of the San Francisco Public Library, then you save 10 percent. They will special order a book for you if they don't carry it.

Staceys Bookstore is a quality bookstore located in the heart of downtown. The internal of the bookstore is very well lit, and clean, and has three floors of books, and other forms of media. It's a lot less crowded then Boarders, and offers events from writers among others. The prices aren't that competitive, as I don't see a decent sale, although they do mark down some of there books, it's just not as competitive as those priced on Amazon. The magazine section also seems to be a bit lacking, as the racks at Boarders. Overall, it's a quality store, that must be visited if your looking for a book in the downtown area.

Staceys Bookstore is a great place to shop for books. There prices are pretty good, and I did find a few textbooks that I needed for college at a MUCH cheaper price there. I would recommend this store to everyone!

Staceys is a cozy bookstore where professionals can spend a quiet lunch-hour or relax after work. They carry a large selection of books and a great selection of discounted books. Guest speakers frequently give lectures or book talks on the second floor. The staff is helpful and quick to order books not currently in stock.
PROS: Good location, nice selection
CONS: Lack of available seating during peak hours

Another reason to love San Francisco is because of all the local bookstore. This one is no exception. This is a great store with very friendly service. A lot bigger than most of the bookstores in San Francisco (could rival B & N), it has three levels, with the main level being the biggest. An upstair level where they carry variety of travel books, and best sellers, and downstair (basement) is where all the bargain books are. Only let down is not sitting room or caf, but sticking to the tradition of bookstore, it is well lit and very inviting. Lots of workers up front, so never a line! But when it comes to searching for books, try looking online first and calling in.

This is one of my favorite bookstores in San Francisco. They have a huge selection of books. Often times I go to Stacy's to buy books that I just can't seem to find at other bookstores. The staff is friendly and curteous. Most of the sales people know everything about all the books. Its very refreshing. The only bad thing that I can say about this bookstore is that there is absolutely no parking. But its really close to all the public transportion.

It's THE non-funky, well-run independent bookstore in San Francisco. They sometimes get major authors/celebs like Roger Ebert. The bargain section doesn't seem to have any good books. The store is very neat and organized. Occasionally they have a great 20% off everything sale. With a free Stacey's Literary License, you always get 10% off everyday.
PROS: 20% off sale right now, clean, well-lighted, great author events
CONS: most books full price; bargain section isn't all that great
