I found this fantastic sams when another salon ruined my hair with a bad expensive dye job. The owner let me in after already having locked the door and fixed what she could with conditioner and a wrap and had me come back the next day. I've gone no where else for 4 years. They are one of the few chains that have experienced stylists. They have always told me if a particular style just cant be managed with my hair type. They have always been honest when I come in with a new idea and said, 'yes I can cut your hair like that but it will never lay like that because your hair is too thin or wavy etc....' Bottom line is a hairstylist has to know your hair and what you are capable of doing with it on your own in between appointments, and how it lays and reacts to different weather and I learned the hard way that that takes time. One of the women there does the best scalp massage ever, one is awesome with blow drying my hair the way I like it, and one I like better for doing my color and eyebrows. You have to get to know these things about a salon in order to get what you want.

Growing up, I didnt change my hairstyle too often. Its only when I move to California that I realized that changing ones hairstyle was like changing socks. I tried out a couple of salons every three months or so, but I never wanted to spend too much money on a style. In the words of Shel Silverstein, each was, "almost perfect, but not quite."

My friends, take some advice. Spend the money on a cut and style. When I went to Fantastic Sam's, I got the worst haircut Ive received since I cut my hair when I was a toddler. I showed the stylist a picture of what I wantedwhat she gave me was a mess. The sides that were supposed to frame my face had at least a two inch difference and the layers in the back were so chunky, they had no movement at all.

Sure, she washed my hair, but Ive never had a haircut where they didnt dry and style it for you afterwards. Further, I had to wait over an hour to get this style. I wasted too much of my time and got something I wouldnt wish on an enemy. You get what you pay for, and all I paid for out of pocket was just shy of $20, but it felt like a lot more than that.

PROS:
CONS: False Advertising-- They can't recreate a style they see in a picture.
