Wonderful tarts!!!

La Farine makes deliciously light and flavorful croissants. Awesome for a quick breakfast bite (forget about calorie-counting though!) They also do a bang-up job on the baguettes and baked bread. Waiting in line seems like welcome torture because you know with each step you're getting closer to those savory morning buns! They offer free samples so pretend you need one before you order! It is a great neighborhood bakery with great service, great selection, and great sweets!

La Farine sells delicious artisan breads, and supplies some of the local restaurants as well. They also have great pastries and croissants. The shop can get crowded, but it's worth the wait.

This is the best bakery I've ever seen. They use this old world appoach or something and the crust on their sweet baguette is soemthing I live for.

LOVE THIS PLACE!

Pros: Such good bread, baked goods from heaven

Cons: parking is rough

Their pastry is better than their bread in my opinion. All of their tarts are tasty. I wouldn't say they're the best, but they're pretty good.

I got a Chamonix cake here once for my girlfriend's birthday. It was excellent. They threw in frosting writing, gratuit of course.

The atmosphere really tries to emulate a Parisian boulangerie if you're into that sort of thing.

There is nothing like the smell of fresh baked bread wafting out onto the street, or the taste of yeasty, warm bread fresh from the oven. So if you aren't inclined to bake your own break, then go to La Farine. You'll enjoy the aroma, and of course the flavors of their different fresh bakes breads. The prices are extremely reasonable. The morning pastries (croissants, morning buns, etc.) are all out of this world.

I will say this about the cakes - they aren't my style. The ones that I've had tended to be a bit dry and not very sweet, so if that's your thing, you'll love these.

Insider Tip - HUGE lines and I mean HUGE for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and you MUST pre-order.

They led the recent San Francisco Magazine "125 Best Things to Eat" article for good reason -- La Farine's morning buns are what you'd get if a croissant and a brioche had an affair in a cinnamon bun factory. Absolutely delicious, and highly recommended.
