Frist of all the food is not salty!!! Mr Giddy G!!!! I eat at this restaurant 2 or 3 times a week and the food is great. the salsa is good but I like spicy so ask for the red spicy salsa its the owners recipe, the best i ever tasted . I love the chefs specials once I had a poblano chile stuffed with a picadillo meat filling and a nice tomato salsa that went on top yummy my stomach
was very happy and full. I just had friday night a marinated skirt steak with those great homemade tortillas. I was in heaven. If you want fancy go to Jaivers and pay $40 for a steak! Don Ramons is a great restaurant to be in our neighborhood and were lucky to have them :) And the margaritas are hand poured yea no gun!!!!!

Don Ramon's has the best bean dip of any mexican restaurant I have ever been to. The food is also really good. I would recommend it to any person.

Pros: Best bean

Cons: A little pricy for the portions

Yes, there are many Mexican joints in Huntington Beach with a great sense of style. But like today's pop music scene, all style and no substance, Don Ramon's is not about seating or decor. It's all about good grub. I am not personally wild about the bean dip, though I appreciate the good reviews. I keep telling the folks at Don Ramon's that they should bottle the salsa and sell it direct! At Don Ramon's , it is all about the food and the service. You never run short on chips and salsa (and bean dip if you prefer), refills are prompt, the enchiladas are to die for...

It seems to me that a person either hates Don Ramon's or loves Don Ramon's , so make your own decision. I will dine with the good folks at Don Ramon's until my dying day. If I had to pick a "last meal", I'd go with the #9, with all rice-no beans, and extra salsa to spread over my rice! Try Don Ramon's once and if you are not totally satisfied, MORE FOR ME!

I'm glad I went by the citysearch recommendations for this place - it was very good! I agree the salsa and bean dip were delicious.. as was the chicken enchilada entree I ordered. I'll definitely be back in the near future!

Pros: Great food - especially the salsa and bean dip!

This is one of my favorite casual dining restaurants. The food is good, reasonably priced, and in portions that fill you up. One of my criteria for good Mexican food is a good margarita and this restaurant serves a great margarita on the rocks. The decor is not impressive, but definitely gives that neighborhood feeling. The staff are very friendly and provide great service.

Indeed the bean dip they bring with the chips and salsa is really good but the food here has been consistently too salty. I've eaten here about 4 or 5 times because the kids like the bean dip but Its not my first choice for Mexican food. The service is always very good. The seating is a little strange for parties larger than 4. (we have 4 kids so we are always at least 6) The overall ambiance is average. If I owned this restaurant, I would gut it and re-do the layout so it was a little more open and friendly. When entering the restaurant, it feels like you are taking a trip through a labyrinth of some dungeon. With all the really outstanding Mexican restaurants we have in OC, I'm surprised this one is as popular as it seems. Good, but nothing special.

My boyfriend and I headed here after having the hostess at Mario's tell us there was a 30min wait for a party of two and we'll go straight here in the future! We were seated immediately and given the traditional chips and salsa, but Don Ramon's also gives out a delicious bean dip. It looks like they have large dip bowls too for larger parties, so even if it's just two of you go for the big bean dip... I guarantee you'll still scrape the bottom looking for more.

The entree sizes are excellent, a burrito is easily the size of a guinea pig and I could only finish half of my super stuffed quesadilla. Skip the fried ice cream if you eat late like we did... I'm not certain, but I think they're made earlier and kept in the freezer because the cornflakes were stale on our dessert.

The restaurant has only one credit card machine so when we were ready to leave we had to take our check to the couter and wait in line for the host to run the card.

Pros: Service, parking, bean dip

When you eat here, the first thing you get is their salsa and bean dip. The salsa is normal but the bean dip was great. I ordered their fajitas which was a huge platter. By the time the food came, and i ate a couple of bites I was full. It is a great value for your money.

WHETHER YOUR IN THE MOOD FOR A SATISFYING HEARTY MEXICAN MEAL OR JUST A CLASSIC CADILLAC MARGARITA AND CHIPS W/SALSA DON RAMONES IS THE PLACE TO BE. BESIDES THE FACT THAT YOU FEEL RIGHT AT HOME, RIGHT AWAY YOUR GREETED WITH WARM FRESH CHIPS AND SALSA AND THE WORLDS BEST BEAN DIP. ITS WORTH THE TRIP FOR THE BEAN DIP ALONE. THE BAR HAS GREAT HAPPY HOUR AND A BIG SCREEN WITHOUT THAT MEAT MARKET" SINGLES ONLY FEEL". ITS A FAMILY ORINTATED RESTURAUNT WITH A HOME COOKED MEXICAN FEEL. THE DON RAMONS MARINATED/GRILLED CHICKEN IS ONE OF A KIND AND THE VEGGIE QUESADILLA IS ALWAYS CRISPY AND FRESH.
