I came here once; here's my objective experience.

Both of my wheels badly needed to be re-trued. I happened to pass by this store and decided to give it a go. They quoted me at $15 / wheel. 25 minutes and $25 later, I rode out, both wheels good as new. The mechanic even greased up my squeaky chain and diagnosed a problem I couldn't figure out before, without pushing me to have them fix it.

Protip: If you need something serviced, come in on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. They have two mechanics on duty those days, one on the others.

I've always found the sales people to be friendly, knowledgable and honest. Sometimes I've had to wait a few minutes for my turn to be helped, but it's always worth the wait. Product quality and warranty is better than most places I've been. Their prices may not be the cheapest, but then I don't want cheap product either. If they don't have what I want in stock, they are always happy to order it for me at no extra charge. I recommend Pasadena Cyclery, give them a chance to help you with your cycling needs. (Ask for Matt L., Alan, or Michael!)

I went to Pasadena Cyclery for the very last time tonight. I did buy a bike from them years ago and it was a pleasant enough experience.

I want to replace the aforementioned bike, as it was stolen. I have walked into the shop last summer, and again last Spring and I have not been able to bring myself to give them my money. Each time, I am ignored. Today, as I went to the counter to ask a question, some guy did not even look up from what he was doing. Then he turned around and announced he was clocking out.

I should give him the benefit of the doubt, but this is after a long line of snubs. I am an overweight woman who wants to get back in better shape. I rode bikes on long treks when I was younger, and owned a couple of premium bikes. I am attracted to the bikes - but not the staff. When I decide which bike to buy, and it will be in the $500 and above range, it will be at another shop that sells Trek or Dahon.

The thing is that it looks like their customer service is the problem, so losing this sale won't mean much. Just save your money for another, better bike shop.

I'm a student and I went to Pasadena Cyclery to get the quick releases taken off my wheels so that they wouldn't get stolen at school. The staff seemed to treat me as unworthy of their attention because I merely used my bike to commute around campus. They didn't have the part I needed and the saleman said something to the effect of "I suppose I could order that part, but I can't imagine why anyone would want to take their quick releases off a bike..." Shortly there after I had my front wheel stolen and needless to say I went to a different shop to purchase a new wheel.

Pasadena Cyclery is an excellent shop for looking for bikes for your pleasure. The people there are pretty caring and will try to go out of their way to help you find what you're looking for.

The selection is very broad; whether you want a road or mountain bike. Should check it out.

Combine high prices with only an alright selection and an uncaring, stuffy salestaff and Pasadena Cyclery is what you get. In general the staff is unhelpful, and when you ask what you think are reasonable questions (such as "where are the tubes") you get condescending answers. It's a convenient store for those in the Pasadena area, but I'd suggest going elsewhere.

The staff at Pasadena Cyclery is wonderful. When I bought my first bike in years the staff helped me select an appropriate bike for my gender and needs. They fitted the bike for me (adjusted the seat, handle bars, etc.) before I took it home. I've been happily biking every since!

I really liked this bike store. It has a convenient location, and I never have trouble parking. The folks that work there are extremely friendly and helpful. They don't seem to have a huge stock of items, but I always seem to find what I'm looking for (and at a reasonable price), so I'm not going to complain about that. They also have classes on bike maintenance... haven't tried them yet, but I really want to check one out sometime.

Combine an overly aggressive upsell with a general lack of concern for the customer and you get Pasadena Cyclery. When I was shopping for a bike, they wanted to sell me one that was pretty inappropriate for what I wanted to do (a hybrid for riding exclusively on roads??) and tried to push me in to another couple hundred dollars worth of unnecessary accessories (cycling shoes/pedals for a 8-mile commute, etc.). Shop anywhere else.

The folks here are very helpful and there is not much sales pressure at all. I suspect the prices are a bit high but I was pretty happy with the little folding bike I bought here.

Not as fancy as Velo Pasadena down Colorado Blvd, but still a good collection of bikes, wheels, and frames for a variety of needs--road, mountain, 'cross, even some BMX. Good mechanic, based on the work he's done for me. This shop carries Treks, Gary Fisher, and Lemond (and possibly others as well, but those are the ones I've noticed). Prices seem to be at market value. Not high, but not bargain basement either. Definitely worth visiting.
