The cuisine at Arroyo Chop House is reminiscent of the legendary steakhouses of New York or Chicago, with USDA Prime beef, dry-aged for six weeks and hand-cut daily, taking center stage. First, guests enjoy classic starters like chilled jumbo shrimp with a potent cocktail sauce, Alaskan crab leg cocktail, Caesar salad, or sliced beefsteak tomato with marinated red onions and bleu cheese. The generously-portioned main attractions include filet mignon, rib-eye, a massive porterhouse, and New York strip, as well as double-cut lamb chops, veal chop, rotisserie chicken, and a 32-ounce prime rib with all the trimmings. The discriminating diner can select from an extensive wine list or enjoy one of the many premium single-malt Scotches or martinis. There is also a patio for dining. The Scene
Although it looks like just another Sizzler from the outside, the designers have made an earnest stab at creating a flapper-era interior, with dark mahogany walls and an art deco-inspired mural. A chanteuse performs old standards on the baby grand piano to amuse the multigenerational, family-oriented crowd.

The Food
When the owners of the Parkway Grill became weary of powderpuff California cuisine, they got back to basics with this all-American steakhouse. The menu is simple: Beef is the main attraction, with a half dozen cuts to choose from. The filet mignon is butter-soft, and the porterhouse, a deeply flavorful cut, is seared to perfection. Appetizers and side dishes complete an already hearty meal. The Alaskan crab leg comes with an incendiary cocktail sauce, and iceberg lettuce is drizzled with a tangy blue cheese. Shoestring fries are light-as-air.

Key Points

  • Award-winning wine list
  • Patio seating available
  • USDA Prime beef served

Great Steak!

by sunshine91307

The service is nice, the steaks are excellent. The atmosphere is a little dry for my taste, but once you sit down, you can ignore it. Nice business dinner setting.

Pros: Great Steaks, Parking, Nice Bar

Excellent Food&Service

by robotan

We go to the Chop House every year for our wedding anniversary for the past several years.

The steaks are always cooked right (rare) and their wine list is very very good. Their Cosmopolitan is also good.

Don't forget to order the chocolate souffle when you order your meal.

Good Steak Arrives in Pasadena

by ehj206

The "Chop House" has far in a way exceeded the quality of its sister restaurant, Parkway Grill. The Chop serves up just that, great cuts of meat served how you like -- everything from New York medium rare to Filets well done. I have dined here twice and loved it both times. This is a wonderful spot to bring a special group of people for a special night out.

by monkfishliver

This is another one of those places where i go when i feel like a good piece of red meat. There are other steak houses but i love this place because of the service especially. They're very catering to your needs. You can sit down for nice meal and take as much time as you need to enjoy it.

Exceptional Service

by izelmorena

Yes, this place is expensive, but worth every cent. The second I stepped into the Arroyo Chop House, the waitstaff made it seem like a definate holiday. They took care of our table with quick and prompt service, and gave excellent recommendations. The side dishes are big enough for two to share, so keep it in mind, or you'll be taking home cold expensive food that doesn't taste as good when it's nuked in the microwave. The steaks are delicious, even better, try their catch of the day. These people know how to cater to your individual needs with knowledge and service that is unsurpassable. Oh, and very very very romantic and whatever you do...MAKE RESERVATIONS if you don't want to wait.

Pros: Service, Romantic, Delicious food

Cons: none.
