Reviews for Primary Pediatric Medical Grp

Ratings_icons Primary Pediatric Medical Grp is unprofessional

My kids Dr. had moved in w/the Group not too long ago and from what I have experienced, I hate it already. I called to make appts for their flu shots and was told the office did not rec' their shipments yet. So I called again and was told they ran out and is not sure when they will get another shipment in. I was lead to believe they did not rec' any at all but was told they ran out and that I am to keep calling till they do rec' the shots. Mind you, I had 3 different persons answer my call. So in the mean time, when the shots take 2 weeks to work into the body and stay effective for 6 months, my kids will have gotten sick before they will get immunized.
In short, I do not feel confident in their services.

Ratings_icons Primary Pediatric Medical Grp is horrible

I called the office for clarification on a date on a document. The staff member that took the call was helpful at first, but then did not know how to proceed, so they put me on hold. The staff member then picked the line back up and began to ye'll at me. It was unecessary and uncalled for. I only asked for date clarification and the staff member completely lost it over the phone. I don't know where the staff member's anger came from, but I would not want to call this office again, let alone take my child there.

Ratings_icons I won't recommend this practice.

I have to agree with the previous person. I had exactly the same experiences. Last three times we were waiting in the room for 1 hour 20 minute each time. It is very hard with half naked baby. Frond desk is the worst nightmare. I always have hard feeling before calling to make an appointment.
I also had bad experience with Dr. Maidenberg. I found her distant and not confident.
I would recommend to go to Oakland office - they have beautiful doctors like Dr Chuang and Dr Usem. I regret leaving that office.

We used Primary Pediatrics in Oakland before moving to Alameda. Our experiences with the Alameda office have been horrible, forcing us to change doctors. I will say that Dr. Sandoval is a wonderful and intelligent doctor. that is where my praise for Primary Pediatrics ends.

I have three children close in age, so I am at the doctor's office frequently. The wait-times are horrible. Although they will cancel your appointment if you are five minutes late, don't expect to get in within 30 minutes of your appointment. The administrators are inconsiderate and frequently downright rude. We struggled to get a referral to a specialist. After dealing with the administrator for over six months, my wife and I made an appointment with the doctor. Not for our children, but for the two of us. When we explained the situation to the doctor, she immediately did what her front desk was unwilling to do. We have received the same response trying to get one of our children in before he/she gave whatever ailment to the siblings. At one point, we resorted to paying the ER fee so that they could be seen.

It was very hard to switch from Dr. Sandoval, but if we couldn't get through the unfreiendly and unhelpful front desk, what difference does it make how good your doctor is.

Ratings_icons They always make my kids feel comfortable!

I've been taking my kids to Primary Pediatrics since my first child was born and I've always been impressed by their staff. The Doctors are great and extremely patient (my wife tends to ask a lot of questions). They understand that your child is your most precious gift and they treat them as such. They are very open to alternative parenting and will address your questions about most of these subjects in depth.

PROS: Great Doctors
CONS: None!

Primary Pediatrics has a practice in Oakland as well as Alameda, and that is where my daughter is seen.

My OB, and the nurses on the pediatric ward recommended these doctors and we've had wonderful experiences with them so far.

During our first visit, Dr Horowitz gave my husband and I a crash course in baby's life and safety - enough information to keep us calm when ordinary things, like rashes and coughing came up.

Dr. Chaing was open to our delayed and selected vacination, and they have all been supportive of our natural parenting choices. In fact, when the advice line was ready to send us to the hospital, one of the doctors was able to provide helpful advice over the phone for our breast fed daughter.

It is a pain in the butt to be asked for insurance information when I call with a question, but I understand most practices do this now - so I can't complain.
