Bloomie's is one of my favorite places to shop for high end clothing. It is also a pleasant place to shop. Parking at the mall is relatively easy.

Bad experience at Bloomingdale??s in Sherman Oaks. The store doesn't carry suits for my size (44S), but would not cash out $400 in Bloomingdale's gift cards I was given to buy a suit.
I got $400 in Bloomingdales gift cards for my birthday, and wanted to use them towards this purchase. I inquired about my size, 44Short, in the suit section. A tall salesman, one of a few employees in suits standing and idly chatting, loudly responded that "44Short is a very unusual size, and the store doesn't carry it". There was nothing he could help me with. When I inquired regarding my options, including cashing out the gift cards, the salesmen became rude, and told me to just go and buy something else.
Well, I don??t need ??something else?. I would like to buy a suit, and I would like it to fit me.
So, I went upstairs to the customer service. If the store doesn??t carry my ??weird? size, 44S (actually a very common size in any other department store) and the employees are tactless, inconsiderate people, I should take my business elsewhere, right?
Wrong, according to the vice president of the Sherman Oaks Bloomingdale??s store. This gentleman, who pompously introduced himself as "Hi, I'm MISTER [so and so]" (big deal, I??m DOCTOR [so and so]), told me that cashing out the gift cards is against the company policy. He said something to the effect that I should call the headquarters, and see what they would say. Of course, it was already 5:00PM, and it??s on the East Coast, so no suit today.
Mr. [so and so] also said that perhaps Bloomingdale??s could find the suit elsewhere, and then send it to me. But, of course, he never did actually do it.
In all, I wasted the trip to the mall, spent lots of time talking to rude people, but never got the suit. And I still have the $400 in gift cards that I can??t use.
Bloomingdales doesn't carry my size, because it considers it unusual. Why not, then, give me my money so I could buy the suit elsewhere?

I traveled from Miami with an expensive pair of RL jeans which I ended up returning in Los Angeles. The tag was still on the jeans and the receipt was close to one year old. No problem! Bloomies refunded my credit card with no questions asked. I've found the return policy on better dresses and evening wear to be the same at all the high end stores (within 30 days with ALL tags attached). This keeps customers from buying an expensive dress for a one time affair and then returning it after wearing it. Bad manners!!!! So the policy makes sense.

Don't try to return a dress here! I had my receipt with it's price tag attached and they told me that dresses in that department (evening gowns, nice dresses) have to be returned within 30 days, even with a receipt (which it does not say on the receipt!) No store credit, nothing!

I had an amazing experience early last week at Bloomies. I worked with two women who were helpful without being pushy, and they were both extremely effective at getting me exactly what I needed with minimal effort on my part. YAY. In 20 minutes I had everything I needed and then could go about enjoying a day off.

Sheila was extremely helpful fitting me for new bras. She measured me, made suggestions, and even ordered me two colors she didn't have in stock. She searched the national database and arranged my purchases to be sent from the New York flagship store rather then send me on a goose chase through Los Angeles.

I also worked with a woman named Lenore in the woman's clothing department. She was pleasant, helpful, and accomodating by pointing out sale racks that I had missed and by fetching me different sizes, etc.

The missing star keeping them from perfect score is that the handbag and hosery departments both sported snotty clerks. Strange to have such overly helpful people on the 2nd and 3rd floors but such snobs on the first. Too bad, I was close to buying a Coach bag before the snobby clerk gave me the once over and turned me off. I didn't like the bag THAT much. I hate snobs in department stores. It never makes any sense to me. Why would you want to make people walk away when you work on commission?!

I consider this store more upscale than your typical department store - there's no denying it, prices are high. However, anyone who really knows how to look for quality clothing (i.e. trim and cut, especially in patterned shirts) will know that Bloomies sells quality. While I wouldn't and don't shop there on a whim, once in a while a nice sale will hit, at which time I recommend a look-see.

If you are looking for high quality clothing then Bloomindale's is your store. Although the clothing can be pricey you can find a lot of items that are totally worth it. The customer service is good and the items are nicely organized. You can occasionally find good sales at this Bloomingdales.

This store is organized and attractive. However, it's quite difficult to find an associate in every single department. They are usually not present. The associates who are present, do not approach the guests and have to be approached by the guests. The merchandise quality is satisfactory, as is the selection

Being from New York and a Bloomies groupie from way back, I love this store. Prices are high but fashion is their business. Great labels, and if you wait for sales and roam racks for best deals in town. Be a charge customer and get special shoppng days and coupons in the mail. They have a cute little, and I mean little, cafe on top floor for a nice lunch that is not mall like. Houseware dept is best for pots and pans, towels and bedding dept superb for the finest and softest. Lingerie dept is very large with the best labels. Kids dept is great, shopped there for years for daughter, she loved their selections.

This Bloomingdale's store is usually not crowded - except for the women's shoe sales. The sales staff is helpful, too. They don't always have sizes, but since it's bloomies, they can call another store to get it for you. I can always find shoes here.
