My son and I came to see Nicole Peluso on 1/24/14 due to a poor latching problem. We waited 20 minutes for her to arrive and when she arrived not a hi, hello, or an introduction of any kind. But instead she asked the receptionist "is this the one"? We went in a room and she asked me to nurse my baby while she asks me a list of questions. She sat about 4 feet away from us during the entire visit. Not once did she come near us to assess our techniques, or check to make sure if we did everything correctly, or provide feedback of any kind . I informed her there must be something that we're doing incorrectly since it hurts each time I breastfeed my son and my body position is very uncomfortable and awkward especially when I nurse him on my right. I had to ask her several times to come an take a look for her to get off her chair. She told me the baby latches on correctly which I don't believe since I get sore, cracked, blistered, and bleeding nipples every time I breastfeed. She then had the nerves to tell me my baby needs mouth surgery because she thinks he has a condition called "tongue tied". I was outraged! What about the millions and billions of babies on this earth who also have a poor latching problem? Do they all need mouth surgery? I would pump and bottle feed my baby if any thing. I told her since breastfeeding hurts I've been pumping exclusively since his birth. She told me my nipples look bruised which she's never seen in other women before. Ok so? Don't tell me what I already know but instead tell me what I can do about my problems or how to prevent them from occurring. At the end of our visit she asked if I wanted her to show me how to breastfeed lying down. I said sure because this position always gives me the most problem. I expected her to show me how to position my body and my baby but instead she just shoved my son's mouth at my breast. In the end I left her office feeling as clueless as before the visit. I learned much more from watching Youtube than a meeting with her. In fact I didn't learn a single thing from her since no input or advice were given besides the absurd recommendation for mouth surgery and to buy Dr. Brown's breast pump as if it is superior to Medela. I came to her office feeling excited but left there feeling angry for we were robbed of our time and money. She had the nerves to bill my insurance in the amount of $880, $440 for each of us, for services she didn't even provide. Really Nicole Peluso? How do you justify this dollar amount? What services did you provide for us to claim such an outrageous amount of money? Do you believe in helping people or just simply robbing them of their money when they are most vulnerable? Do you honestly think you deserve this money? And when did I ever present my case as if it was a dire emergency for you to bill as such? You could have at least informed me when I spoke with you on the phone that you'd treat my case as if it was an emergency and that I should expect to be billed a hefty amount of money. At least this way I could've decided if I wanted to see you on that day or at all. But instead you made yourself sounded like you were doing me a favor by seeing me on the same day because you wanted to help me out. Well guess what? As of today 04/04/14 I'm still injured every time I nurse my son on the right thanks to your so call "service". You are horrible as a licensed lactation consultant, however you are great as a licensed money robber in my opinion. Nicole Peluso, I hope you'll have a clear conscience when you spend my hard earned dollars which I truly don't think you deserved!

I gave birth here and it is one of the best experiences. all the staff helped me through the labour by relaxing and massaging me and at the pushing I felt very confident with the staff that did not rush me to push out the baby. It was very nice atmosphere. When I was pushing (31 minutes) they assisted me in every way

I was so well supported and attended to throughout my pregnancy and birth with Sacred Entrance that it was everything I could have asked for! This is the best maternity care a family can find - impeccable competence, professionalism and friendly compassion are expertly combined at Sacred Entrance. Although we are insured with an HMO that would have covered most costs with an obgyn and hospital, midwifery care with Sacred Entrance was well worth paying for out of pocket. I wouldn't trade what I got with them for insured services anywhere else. Connie and Aleks are such talented and inspiring midwives! They are both intelligent, experienced and remarkable women. Their offices are managed with absolute charm and efficiency. All my needs were met throughout my 41 and a half weeks of pregnancy. I delivered my second child - a healthy, beautiful, 11 pound 4 ounce (!) boy - at home, in a birthing pool with my family and my midwives perfectly supporting me. It was an amazing experience. I hope anyone who's looking to have a conscious and empowering birth will find Sacred Entrance.

Can't speak highly enough of these midwives and their support staff. Everyone takes such good care of you throughout your entire pregnancy and birth experience. They provide encouragement, vital information, and compassionate care consistently. As a result of their fabulous support throughout my pregnancy, I approached labor and birth with confidence and awe. Our beautiful daughter was born peacefully at home in the water surrounded by loving kindness. The tenderness with which the midwives handled and coaxed me and my baby during, and in the hours after delivery and at our post-partum visits makes my heart melt. They are amazing women who believe in the miracle of birth and babies, and the intuit power of mothers. They are on-call 24/7 for 6 weeks after delivery to allay any of those 'new parent' fears. Their service is affordable and far exceeds any monetary value. These are the women to birth with.

I cant mention names here because of the rules, but everyone that works at the Birth Center is so knowlegeable and warm, you will truly feel comfortable for your whole maternity and birth experience. I had my first child in a hospital, Whittier Presbyterian, what a nightmare!! For my second, in Januaryh 2005, I went with Hollywood Birth Center. The difference was amazing. They spend a lot of time at each prenatal visit going over every aspect of your pregnancy and answering your questions (over 1 hour visit, while my Dr used to rush me out in 10 mintues after a 45 minute wait). They came to me at home for the delivery (that is an option, but prenatals were at the center). They set up the water tub and the doulas helped me through the labor. The music was soothing and lights were low. I felt so much less pain, because I was relaxed and confident. My daughter was born only 45 minutes after I got in the tub. After the birth, I had some somewhat serious issues, with a lot of bleeding. But they were able to handle that with their skill and expertise. Visit them, you will have no regrets and end up with the best birth experience you could have hoped for. Prices are reasonable, it was about $3,800 which included all the prenatal visits, home birth, and several HOME visits after the baby is born to check on you and the baby.

PROS: Extremely knowledgeable staff, caring and supportive. Reasonable rates
CONS: Traffic in Hollywood is a pain, but there is traffic everywhere in LA
