Probably the best movie theater experience I will ever have. Never has going to a cinema felt so classy and entertaining. Everybody likes dressing up when they go and having a few glasses of wine while watching their favorite movies. I can't think of a better way to spend time at the movies. And the overall decor just adds to a completely different theater-going experience.

So the experience is wonderful.. You don't feel like you're in a trashy cinema with popcorn all over the floor and sticky seats (ugh!) I suppose the only drawback is that the prices can be expensive. But this ironic revelation strikes you and you have to remind yourself that this is a movie theater, nothing's ever going to be cheap!

Now I'm just waiting for the miraculous one day I'm waiting in line to buy a glass of red and I run into Mr. Redford himself.

It had been years since I had stepped foot inside the Kabuki. I was happy it had been updated w/ potted bamboo in the lobby, current food options & a bar that adds to it's Japanese theme. The food kiosk served Pete's coffee(happiness in a cup)w/ latte or mocha options. There is also a balcony bistro(2nd floor) where food can be taken into the balcont of Cinema #1 .)Of course, popcorn & snacks, along w/ movies run in foreign tongues.(I would watch Willy Wonka in Farsi) Also, Sundance films & documentaries. The theatre chairs are comfortable and you dont feel crowded. Guess I will be checking their times more often!

Pros: public transportation stops near it

Cons: lots of homeless in the area

In my mind this theatre hands down wins!!!

It is definitely catered toward an adult audience and shows generally mainstream / art house films.

The real magic is that it has reserved seating (avoids all lines) and you can take a beer and food into the theatre with you from their surprisingly good restaurant. Just like watching a film at home!

Theatre one Balcony is the best! So always go for that one. It is actually the original THX theatre in the city and the sound systems in all theatres now is first class (mandatory nowadays).

If you are needing movie multiplex with big Hollywood blockbusters and popcorn. Kabuki is not for you.

I used to go this theater frequently because it is generally clean, with a good selection of movies, and they validate parking nearby. But today the "bargain" matinee cost $10.50 per person! Yes, that was the "bargain" price - the highest I've paid at any time of the day in the Bay Area. No wonder the building seemed like ghost town. Boy have times changed. Seems like we need a little work on our business plan...

I've been to this theatre quite a few times, and it has never been a bad experience. They have a good selection of movies, and the location is really easy to get to-- it's right in the middle of the city near all the bus routes. The snacks are fine, and the bathrooms are usually pretty clean (which is more important that you'd think!). The staff is always pretty friendly, and I never have any problems here. It's a great place to catch a movie!

The movie theatre is located at a great place. The bad things about this theatre is that they will give you the stickiest shoes after the movie. I will recommend this theatre to anyone but i would not recommend wearing your best shoes.

AMC Kabuki's location is one of the good things about this theater. There is a wealth of restaurants and shopping complex within Japantown and the Richmond district isnt too far away. Compared to other newer theaters however, Kabuki lacks quality. The seats feel ancient, and the ticket prices do not justify the movie experience.

I like going to see movies and even thoug hthis theater offers 8 screens, I did not enjoy seeing a movie here. The parking is very hard in japan town. It took me almost 30minutes just to find a spot. And there were so many people just hanging out in the street doing nothing. Too many young people just loitering around and not enough security. It made me very nervous. They were very loud and obnixious. I think that I will go to another theater next time. Not worth it to feel unsafe going to the movies.

The kabuki theaters have changed. People use to love going here to hang out with friends. Their rooms are pretty small if you compare them with Century 20. The ticket prices aren't exactly cheap here either. However, I still like their lobby area. I still think it's nice. They have parking lots for parking.

A decent movie theater. It's rarely packed and it's not as new or nice. Ticket price is a bit high compared to other theaters. So if you really want to go to this theater, be sure to attend the earlier showing for the discount. Parking can be a problem. You can park at the Japantown parking structure and get your ticket validated. However, you still have to pay for parking, but at a slight discount. (Best to find parking else where.)

Amc Kabuki 8 Theatres is probably the worst theatre to attend in San Francisco. The seats are difficult to sit on and it tends to cause your back to hurt. You won't enjoy the movie with this kind of distraction. This place is really small and it is very dirty everywhere. Overall, it would not be good to shell out good money to a not so well theatre.

This used to be a very popular movie theatre. Once Metreon, AMC VAN NESS, and the newest rival Century 21 in daly city arrived, poor old Kabuki loses its charm. The seats are not comfortable compared to the other theatres. They need better seating and arrangement of rows. If someone tall sat in front of you, you will not be able to enjoy the movie.

This theatre is ok. It's pretty small and not many people seem to go to this theatre unless there was some major movie out or for the film festival. It can get pretty annoying when teachers bring younger kids because it gets pretty noisy. Overall I give this place 3 stars.

This movie theatre is not that big it has about 8 rooms. The place is often very dirty like sticky floors, paper on the floor, drinks and etc. I would not recommend going there if you have a choice. The place is more for locals around the area who doesn't have to travel to far.
