I have had the need for many MRI's in the valley. Fortunately, this time I had time to investigate prices and services. I called my insurance (Blue Shield of CA) and ask what they would reimburse for the procedure code I was given. I needed a very simple scan, with/without contrast. I called 7 facilities and got 7 different prices. Some could schedule quicker, but were very busy. Trying to find the contract price paid by BS of CA was not easy, but I finally found for each provider. DMI, was almost $2000, more expensive than the others, but was convent for me and could schedule quickly. I had a 7:30pm appt, and waited 45 minutes to begin the scan. The office staff was not friendly, but the tech staff made up for that. In the future, I will not be willing to pay the extra $1000 for this service, but the headphones and ambiance was conforting.
