Eveoke Dance Theatre Company & School

Eveoke Dance Theatre Company and School is a dance theatre company and school. In addition to teaching 30+ classes in their beautiful, five thousand square foot location in downtown San Diego, they also teach close to 50 classes each week at schools, community centers, and events throughout the community. As participants in the TAP (Tuition Assistance Program), they help many students afford an education in their facility for a third of the cost. The classes they teach in schools are provided free of charge as a service to the community.
No matter what kind of dance you are into, they offer something for everyone, from modern dance, to movement expression, jazz, hip-hop, ballet, tap, stretch and strength classes, choreography, improvisation, yoga, acting, Butoh, and Tai Chi. They also offer special classes for teachers, who wish to incorporate dance into their classrooms, they help teach them, so that they can turn around and teach. What makes this place different from every other dance studio is their childrens dance classes. They have programs for kids from ages 5-14, and they teach not only jazz, ballet, modern dance, inventive dance, theatre basics, and they even teach beyond just dancing, but also respect for the art and dance vocabulary. Parking can be a challenge, because of the location, but its worth it, and theres always the trolley or bus to get you to this part of town. The instructors are spectacular, whether you have been dancing your entire life, or have two left feet; they will help customize the classes, schedule, and programs to meet your needs. You definitely should give this place a try!
