CALL YOUR INSURANCE COMPANIES AND FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT

by Rena D.

My insurance recommended Dental Plus to me. They did a full mouth x-ray and cleaning. They told me amungst other things that I had 4 filling that needed to be changed from silver to white. That the silver fillings I had, had been spearding and cracking my teeth over time. I thanked them and went on my way until they sent me a $50 coupon and a reminder to use my insurance before the end of the year. So about six months later I did. So they charged my insurance, I paid my portion and had the fillings done by Dr Shresta on Oct 9th 2009. All 4 of the filings didn't feel "right". The one on the left side NEVER stopped hurting and the 3 on the right hand side felt "ok" for about 3 days and then really started to hurt. I let a couple weeks go by and none of them felt any better (I have now been eating only soft food and ensure drinks for 5 weeks). I went back in for a follow up a couple weeks later on 10/21/2009 and Dr Adrian told me I would need a root canal (atleast one). She said she could not be sure because the x-ray was taken of the WRONG tooth. They only x-rayed HALF of the tooth that needed the root canal. That same day they wanted me to pay for the procedure upfront. So I did... $374 dollars to a woman named Camille. The next day I went back to see the specialist (endodontist) Dr Malakzad. He was very nice and understanding. He let me know that he was NOT part of the practice and only came in 2x a week for specialty work. He could see that I was very distressed and told me I did not need a root canal on any of the teeth (maybe one day). To come back if they stayed the same in the next week or two. I told him I had read the reivews online about Dental Plus and that they had a very bed reputation and I was really scared and uneasy. I needed to go get a second opinion before I made any decisions. He agreed. I left and paid $41 dollars for my x-rays that would take "about 3 weeks to get to me." I was very upset, I told them all I wanted to do was get a second opinion to make sure a root canal was needed. Dr Roisman came out and helped me. He sat me down after I went back into another room with him to tell him what was going on. He got me my x-rays pronto after I told him about the girl named Ginger who works there that lied to the place I was going to get the second opinion from. Ginger told her (after 2 other people told me exactly the opposite when I was just in there) that I needed to HAND SIGN special paperwork and could not release the records I had already paid for until then. She also told her I had another appointment the next day and that I could do it then. I did not have another appointment scheduled with Denatal Plus at all. I got my x-rays, went to the new office were they told me that all the filling hurt becuase they were done wrong. I had to have ALL 4 of the filling REDONE. Either the material Dr Shresta had used was bad or she didn't cure the teeth for long enough. Which ever the case they were done wrong and I needed to have all of them done over. This is going to be over $700 dollars out of pocket becuase my insurance was already used on those teeth. She did say she could SAVE all 4 of my teeth and that I did NOT need to have any root canals. I called Dr Roisman to tell him about this... He said it could be a possibility. He offered to redue all 4 of the fillings and give me a relaxing med for free. I thought he was caring at the time so I accepted. I got one phone call to schedule the appointments about a week after we spoke at 6pm and never heard from them again. I called 5 other times and today is the first time I got a call back. I knew at this point I would NEVER get anything done from this chop shop shady place ever again. They also did not refund my $374 dollars for the root canal I NEVER had. He told me there was still a $130 dollar charge still pending with my insurance for the x-rays they took of the wrong tooth and until that was paid off they could not refund the $374 to my AMEX. He told me to let my credit card know and they would freeze the payment on my card (which I had already done...) It sounded like he had given that advice a few times before. My guess is AMEX has to end up eating his mistake. At 31 years old (and for the first time in my life), I sat in a dentist office crying today (at DENTAL PLUS on November 18 2009)... becuase I have not eaten solid food in 5 weeks and from all the mental anguish this ordeal has put me through. This place is a train wreck. Please I URGE you NOT to spend a penny here (although if you do choose to go here it will be much more than that. How may of these reviews have to be read and written for this place to be shut down? I sat with Camille and Dr Roisman today who told me there was nothing more they could do for me until they got a check from my insurance company. Please if you have had a bad experience here report them.

Check your credit card statements!

by jeannie l.

WORST liar, I'm amazed she can live with herself. I call her at least once/twice a month to remind her about my account and every time, she lies through her....teeth. Go here if you want your money stolen! Comb your credit card statement for additional appointment you never knew you had!!! I am not a patient there so this is STEALING.

I just got my braces off and I couldn't be happier with the way my teeth look. I am very satisfied with the treatment, service, and professionalism I received here. They were always friendly and welcoming, and I would certainly recommend them to a friend.

Buyer beware!

by P S.

I got suckered into buying these cheap tooth whitening molds but after my visit, where I was herded from room to room like cattle and then told I had to speak with the office manager (more like a cutthroat salesperson) I got out as quick as I could. Follow your instinct and keep checking these insider pages. If too many people have a bad experience, more than likely the place is not worth your money or your time.

A really rude receptionist!

by Jasmine Z.

I did not even get to the dentist, and maybe that is a good thing. The receptionist took 10 minutes to get all the information and just would not listen to the questions that I was asking. I hung up and found a different provider.

Decent Care, but watch your $$$

by Nick C.

My family went to this dentist for several years. We've stopped going after they performed work on me that the insurance co deemed excessive. Months later I rec'd a statement that only read "previous balance past due" and an amount. No explanation, nothing. It took me MONTHS to get an explanation. Now, 3 1/2 years later, we're still going at it even though I've offered to settle it, they don't care. It's an odd way of doing business.

Good Whitening Treatment :)

by Maya w.

I drank coffee and smoke cigarette for 15 years and because of this, my teeth became yellowish. As years passed, I was shy to smile due to this disgusting color. I went to Dr. Leon Roisman and had a deep cleaning and a whitening treatment. I was very pleased with the results because they made my teeth recover to their natural color.

Should be in Jail.

by Jeddy H.

This is not just the worst dental experience I've had but the worst health care or business experience I've ever had. This place is nothing but a racket to make as much money as possible off of innocent, vulnerable patients. You cannot sit in the office, or a chair, or be put on hold on the phone and not be advertised to about how you need this or that procedure. I had one of my front teeth chipped during a molar extraction and when I brought it up Dr. Roisman came in went over everything else that was wrong in my mouth as some sort of attempt to intimidate me or confuse me about the issue of the chip on my tooth. This is a perfect example of how they treat everyone as if they are stupid. They intimidate you into getting procedures you don't need and will attempt to take an x-ray before even looking in your mouth.
One more thing: most, if not all of the positive comments on this site are made by the employees themselves, no doubt as the behest of Dr. Roisman. Go to other sites and you will see the same comments cut and pasted. Avoid this Dentist like the PLAGUE!

Wonderful environment!

by Marissa D.

Let's face it, dentistry is not exactly ecstasy. I don't know about you but I'd rather endure re-runs than a root canal.

Dental Plus Dental is a state-of-the art, super high tech, comfortable environment. The staff, awesome. Doctors super and all under one roof you will find all the services related to dentistry. Best root canal!

by Richard R.

Dr. Malakzad is the root canal Dr. at Dental Plus and he should be the standard by which all dentists should be judged. Last week I had a root canal and felt absolutely no pain. From the moment I contacted him he was reassuring. He said I would have no pain and he was right. He took his time in administering the novacaine - which was also painless and gave it time to work it's way thru and even then rechecked to make sure it was adequate before starting to work on me. After a few minutes of waiting to feel pain at any moment, the pain never came. The entire process was, again - painless! He and his assistant were so efficient and so caring for my comfort! I am a total coward when it comes to dental work but not anymore. I'm going back for another root canal in two weeks and then crown work. I wish I'd known about him before. He also follows up to see if you're ok. I can't say enough about Dr. Malakzad.

Safe and at ease

by Debbie P.

I came in on a Friday as a new patient with an emergency; in pain and in fear. Dr. Roisman examined me and very calmly explained to me what the problem was and what treatment was needed to correct it. Both Friedman and his Assistants were extremely gentle and understanding which made me feel immediately safe and at ease. I am happy that I found Dr. Roisman and will be keeping him as my dentist. I am even looking forward to my next appointment.Thank you Dental Plus Dental.

High quality dentistry

by Robert p.

Dr. Roisman and his staff is a very high quality operation. He has a lot of the latest in Dental technology, and a lot of things he can do right in his office, without "sending out". Going to the office is a positive experience. The waiting times are ok when I show up for my appointment and there is not that pervasive sense of cluelessness that you find in so many places. Everyone seems to know what they are doing.Dr. Roisman's manner is engaging, and he explains the dental procedures pretty well to laymen. There is never that sense of being patronized as with so many professionals. I have had some crowns and veneers put in over the last couple of years and after the procedure is complete thatere haven't been any problems. This is all high quality work, using the latest in dental technology. You could probably get it cheaper, but then the question is how long would it last.? I expect to have these teeth for the rest of my life.

Cecilia the $ coordinator HORRIBLE

by rachel c.

I went for a consultation with my good insurance and my bill would be 14k,
5k I must payout of my own pocket.
The dentists seem ok but the financial coordinator Cecilia was so awful it was frightening. She was an awful communicator, did not explain my treatment at all
and acted as if I was buying a soda for 5k.
Because of her (Cecilia)
I will not have my proceedure done there. I get the sense that the place is focused
on cosmetic treatments and rip off people with good insurance.
Now that I have read all the other reviews I agree with all of them.
Avoid this place. I am going to another dentist.

Knowledgeable

by Larry W.

I saw Dr. Friedman and was very happy I did! I absolutely hate going to the dentist (I know no one really loves it but I am so nervous/anxious about it that I dread it), but Dr. Friedman totally put me at ease. He has such a friendly and caring demeanor and constantly makes sure you are doing okay throughout your procedures. I had a root canal and although that kind of stinks to begin with, be he made sure Dr. Khalil was gentle with me.They even called the next day to see how I was doing. They are extremely thorough, very knowledgeable, and very caring. I would highly recommend them! The rest of the staff is also very nice and efficient. I've never waited long there (and even if you have a few minutes wait, the waiting room is very nice and relaxing!) The exam rooms are also really cool too very high tech. Bottom line: I won't go anywhere else for dental service.

Fixed my toothache

by Cindy P.

I ADORE my dentist...been going to him since 1997! I had just moved back from the east coast and before I left said coast, I had had a filling filled. Well...I had a REALLY bad toothache during my whole drive across the US and when I got to LA a friend recommended I see Dr. Roisman. I went to his office and they took X-rays and whatnot and found the filling wasn't 'cured' all the way. SO after hardening the filling...which fixed my toothache!...I asked how much the bill would be and his response was...NOTHING! I was floored...a Doc not wanting $$? Crazy! He figured he was doin' me a favor...and I was hooked. Any Doc who will do that on the first meeting is a keeper!

The office is clean and advanced technology. Dr. Roisman was very kind and attentive to detail. The girl who assist him had to spend quite a bit of time handling my insurance company, but was willing to put in the effort to make sure I got covered. Thanks again, see u in 6 months.

I was not the typical patient because I have had brain trauma years ago and everything is much harder for me including dental treatment. I had 8 implants and oral surgery at Dental plus they made me feel that they cared about me and my health. Dr. Freidman is a hero! I am very satisfied with my results and smile.

Immoral, Unethical, Liars! Total Scam!

by Dental Plus S.

The dental care was fine, but the financial experience has been a nightmare. The worst kind imaginable. They lie to you to get you to put the cost on a high APR credit card. They said they would apply your discount , which would cut the expense up to 50% ,which they never did. Tried to call them for months, to get them to apply the discount. The credit card finance charges is $75-100 a month. We could never get a hold of the accounting lady Carmen, she never picks up the phone, return messages, is always out, and I think the receptionists help them screen their calls. They came up with so many different excuses, blaming other sources. Like 1-800-dentist, and the dental savings company Aetna. Some of the excuses have been, since we went through 1-800-dentist, that's why our savings can't be applied because of the contract they have with them. I can't tell you how difficult they've made this, they make you want to give up. Finally after 6 months, they said the discount they mentioned was for taxes not the $10,000 dental cost and that we misunderstood. They said they are not responsible for knowing what the patients savings truly is, and that if they said it would be a 50% savings they are not liable if that turns out to be untrue. In our case the savings turned out to be 0. They only said it would be a huge saving just to get you to sign a contract. And once your debt is on a credit card, that's when they've got you. We weren't informed for 6 months that there would be no discount, and we only found out after calling and having numerous arguments. They say that the patient is the one responsible for knowing what they've agreed to, which is true, but it's not like we work in the accounting department at Dental Plus and who knew we couldn't take the accountant's word. They took advantage of someone who was not only having tooth pain, but a person who just lost their parent to cancer at a young age. They don't care if the patient is happy or satisfied, as long as they can successfully ripe them off. They never once apologized for giving misleading or untrue promises, or took any bit of responsibility to take care or help the patient resolve their financial situation. I believe it is because they know exactly how to victimize people. I totally believe those good reviews are fake. The last I checked the reviews were all bad, that's when I realized what we were really in for. Please don't give up on fighting them. There has to be some quality control. How can they get away with what they are doing. I don't care if they have no soul, I'm gonna fight!

I took my 75 year old mom in to Dental Plus and I can't say how happy she was when we left. She loved the dentists and the staff was more than kind to us. I was worried how this appointment would go, because it has been many years in between visits. Thanks for making it so easy for me and my mom.

DENTAL PLUS IS A RACKET

by Anonymous

Dental Plus is such a rip off. They just quoted me $2,500.00 to have one tooth done.(That's my portion) I got a second opinion from a family dentist and he laughed at the quote. He said my fee would be under $500.00. I saved $2,000.00 just by getting a second opinion.
I am filing a complaint with my insurance today. If they have ripped you off Please don't just leave. FILE A COMPLAINT WITH YOUR INSURANCE! Also I asked for my dental records, and they wanted $45.00 to give me a copy. What a joke I have NEVER had to pay for a copy of Dental records. The Owner of this place Is GREEDY!
PS. Dr. Chau left this place. He was the best Dentist there. Smart Guy!

Never coming back!

by Sean S.

I went to Dental Plus last month and i quickly changed dentists. This place has got to be the worse place. They are unprofessional and are only after your money. I had to endure feeling humiliated by their 'sales reps' when they wanted to charge me $8,000 for procedures i know i don't need(my new dentist can confirm this). They even have a loan department in the same building. Can you believe this!?
This place is horrible, someone should do an investigative news piece on them.

Lastly, don't believe any positive reviews here they are complete fabrications and lies!

Dental Plus, A Cheater

by Anonymous

If you have a child who needs orthodontic evaluations, don't go to this place. We recently had a terrible experience with this office. When we called the office, we were told that the evaluation was free; but we were billed for over $200 when we actually brought our kid to the office. We wish we had read these reviews earlier so that we could have avoided visiting this unethical and dishonest office. Now with our own experience and the experience of other reviewers, we are glad that we did not choose this office for my child's orthodontic treatment.

This horrible place should be avoided. They offer unnecessary, expensive out of pocket treatment in sedation. Very assertive.
Are not interested in standard procedures such as cleaning.
Concluding, this is a big money machine enterprise of Dr. Roisman.

Horrible Horrible Horrible

by Anonymous

The only good thing I have to say is Dr. Chau and his assistant Anna are awesome. Cecilia the Treatment Coordinator is horrible. She scheduled me to get 5 fillings done. I go in, and I am told that I will only be having two filled. Nobody bothered to even call me and let me know. I had told Cecilia, that i need to have half done at one time and the other half at another time when making the appointment. Also they make you pay for treatment in advanced. So I paid for five fillings but were only having two done. She refused to admit she made a mistake and she never even said she was sorry. Instead she tried to turn the blame around on me saying it was my fault and I was a liar.

2nd bad incident. Horrible assistant named Rico. Scraped my lip with the mirror. Now my lip is swollen and sore with a cut on it. When he was doing my polish he was so rough, and rested his arm on my forehead. Very aggrevated.

I am immediately changing my dentist. If you are planning on going here I would definitely consider otherwise. They should change their name from Dental Plus to The Walmart of Dental Care.

TAKE ADVICE FROM SOMEONE THAT WORKED THERE!!!

by Anonymous

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS OFFICE FOR DENTAL CARE!I have worked in the dental field for over 20yrs. This is hands down the most unethical office I have ever seen. I walked out in the middle of the day after working there for about 1 1/2 months due to the nonstop horrible treatment of patients and employees. Understand, there are some good dentist in this office, the problem is they all work for the same crook...Dr. Leon Roisman. He keeps all of his employees working in fear. I have heard him scream at patients if they did not except the treatment plan he recommended and tell them to leave his office. They run patients through like cattle, and I can promise you the only thing they care about is your wallet. They have a ridiculous amount of turnover with employees. If an office cannot retain employees and there are constantly new people every time you visit, this is a serious red flag for patients. My advice to all, never go to a Dental Group of any kind...if there are more than two dentisit in an office be affraid, be very affraid.

Used car lot, not dental care!

by Anonymous

I spent the last two hours, being x-rayed, examined, waiting, and mostly listening to a series of sales piches! When they finally sent me to the finance girl, and I had to tell her that I had to save up for all of these procedures, she turned up her nose at me! I just walked out of Dental Plus feeling like a Pinto driver in a Mercedes car lot. If you don't have $5,000 you can part with now, don't go here. If you do, go to a more reputable dentist's office.

Could not have been BETTER!

by Robert B.

I could not stand any dentist! My wife and I fought over me needing to go to the dentist. Long of the short, I went. I came to Dental Plus and was pleasantly surprised that I was not quickly shipped out to another dentist for my much needed root canal. This was part of the problem with my old dentist. Dr. Roisman took care of my many needs. The work they did on me was very good and my insurance paid for a lot, but not all of the cost. The staff was very professional and I guess in the end the dentist is not so bad.

Worst service ever!!

by Anonymous

I just switched to Dental Plus in January 08. The 1st visit wask ok, long but through. The dentists were very informative and friendly.
But then nightmares started. First, they listed out plans and cost for my care. The numbers were outrageos. I had same treatment plan quoted by other office with much lower price. Then, they rescheduled my cleaning appointment twice, one was the hygenist called in sick, the second time they just forgot to put me on the schedule!! I took 2 days off from work but got nothing done! The front desk could not help me with another scheduling, i had to call another number to be scheduled into April!! In sheeps clothing!

by Jeannie H.

I had found Dental Plus through my insurance. I needed to find someone fast as I was starting to loose a 15 year old implant and was in really bad pain. They stated on their phone recording that they deal with most insurances which means to me that they send in claims to the insurance. In which they do not do.

In short I was charged over $5,000 for extracting one implant ($750.00 just for that!). The other one (the loose and painful one) came out when they did the impression. They added some synthetic bone (very small amount) in that area. They said I had really bad periodontal disease and wanted to do a new system called APT. This consisted of a rotadent tooth brush, a water pik, some solutions and an antibiotic. I did all of the work at home. They did deep scaling on my teeth and I was given a stayplate (as my two front teeth) in which the insurance should have paid for, but Dental Plus never billed them and charged me the price. I did not know this though as the finance girl said they don't pay for anything. Yet I am still trying to figure out what cost $5,232. The way I see it, I am the proud owner of a toothbrush and waterpik that are worth over $4,000. Technically I was ripped off and that is exactly what one of the reps of my insurance said. All 3 of my check up visits were to measure how close my gums were to my teeth, then on the last visit they offered to do a bridge I had to haggle with the finance girl again and she offered me the bridge at the tune of $9,000. I said why is my insurance not covering it she said they don't cover bridges, and just so you know we are giving you a discount because we normally charge $12,000.00. Can you believe that? I said "well I guess I will just have to get use to my stayplate (temporary stay plate) until I can come up with that kind of money" and walked out. I bought in to this because I thought they were going to do something miraculous with this APT system. I am now in debt for over $5,000 and still do not have my two front teeth. I want to fight them, but the insurance said I signed the contract so they can not help me. I say that is wrong! They are wolves in sheep clothing. They found a way to beat the system and know most people won't fight.

Used Car Salesmen Posing as Dentists!

by Anonymous

I agree with all these negative reviews and wish I had read them before I went. I thought I was going to a smaller practice, as I had chosen a single dentist from my insurance listing. I had no idea it was a huge "dental warehouse" with a revolving door of doctors. The whole place has a nasty feel to it.

The waiting room was dirty and uncomfortable, with TVs advertising gruesome dental procedures. As it was my first visit, they tried to take over 15 separate x-rays of my mouth. Ridiculous! My alarm bells were going off. I said no way and tried to leave, but they sent several used car salesmen types to try to talk me into staying. To top it off, they accused me of going to inferior dentists in the past, as I stated I had never been treated like this. Thank God I got out of there in the first 5 minutes of the exam. If they try to bill me, I'll fight it to the bitter end. Avoid!!

horrible ripoff!!!

by Anonymous

i had a permanent crown come loose after 8 years, all i wanted was for them to re-cement the tooth. they wanted to do other unecessary procedures which cost over $4,000. they basically wanted to remove all my old crowns and redo all the root canals. mind you, i never had any problems with any of them. i told them that all i wanted was to get my tooth re-cemented and refused to pay the 4k. they made me wait 3 hours before re-cementing it. i immediately filed a complaint with my insurance company and switched dentists. DO NOT COME HERE!!! it is a ripoff!!!!

my new dentist just told me that my teeth are perfect.

We're still in sticker shock...

by Anonymous

My husband and I have great insurance through is job, and I was trilled when I made our dental appointments, as we hadn't been to one in about a year. We got there and all the staff were very friendly and easy to talk to...at first. We had our exams and were blown away by the technology they had access to at their office. I initially choose them because they had so many specialist in one location, and if ever anything major needed to done, my husband and I wouldn't have to go to two or three different offices. Our initial experience was great until they told us that we needed to make all our payments for my husbands root canal and cap up front before any work was done. It was very expensive even with insurance ($3,000.00 w/o insurance), and although their finance lady was very cold and cut throat about the money, we had to do it because it was an emergency. His root canal and caps were done withing two weeks of each other and all was well. In fact we liked our first time experience, and told our Mom about it and she went too, and had a similar first time experience. However....our brother became the victim of a violent crime, in which his front teeth were severely damaged. My husband and I recommended Dental Plus, and his initial visit and cost to repair his teeth was $10,000.00 plus. This seemed astronomical because only three of his teeth were damaged. He did not have insurance at the time, and needless to say it was a hefty price tag for a 19 year old. The family pulled the money together for him, only to find out on his second visit that it would be an additional $4000.00 for something Dental Plus claim they didn't see the first time (even though they did an extremely through exam on his first visit). The third visit was another $2,500.00. The family paid his fee again, and he got his temporary caps in October. Then three months later, after many excuses as to why he couldn't get his permanent caps on the first week of November, like to told him initially, they then refused to put them on, claiming he had to pay and extra $1000.00 to have another root canal before they would put on his permanent caps. Now $17,000.00 plus in debt to Dental Plus my family and I are extremely dissatisfied and still in sticker shock. Then our Mom was having some consistent pain where they had replaced her mercury fillings with white ones. When she went in to see if they could do anything, their answer was to root canal every tooth that had pain. They gave her no other options. She refused and asked them to give an explanation, at which point the "big guy" came into smooth things out, by offering to wave a few minor fees. She didn't accept it and left very disappointed. Later she found out no root canals were necessary (she saved $8,000.00 by saying "no" to them) Every time our brother and Mom went into their office for a procedure, they wanted to add a extra one, or two other unnecessary ones. It's as if once they know you have money, they want to get all they can out of you, and tell you that you have to get "x" procedure done or else they can't proceed with the one you came in for initially. I believe that they are scam artist, and I would never recommend them to anyone again. My husband and family will be finding another dental office, hopefully one with some integrity!

NIGHTMARE !!!

by RICH K.

Wow! They are super nice, all for the wrong reasons. The dentist showed me problems I already knew and wanted to take the most radical, most expensive route to fix them. The finance shark started with 11K then down to 4K. She wanted all the money before anything was even done. She was very pushy and had me run a credit check. I told her I would think about it. She charged $3K !!! on my account without authorization anyway but refunded it the next day.

Save your money and time, go somewhere where they are fair with prices, take conservative approach to dental care, and are ethical with billing. Stay away from this place!!! This would make a great report on Nightline. I wonder how many people get caught in this kind of situation, one of the most stressful dental experiences.

I don't see it!

by Susan B.

I have been a patient of Dr. Roisman's for over 8 years. I go in for my check- up every 6 to 7 months. The dentist's have always been great and the staff, at least the people I have dealt with have been nice. I don't have dental insurance, so I have to pay cash. As far as I can tell it seems fair.

Beware of this unethical office

by Anonymous

For more than 15 years Dental Plus provided our dental care. On one dental visit by my husband, he was told that he needed to have a front tooth capped and a root canal. He was also told that our dental insurance did not cover those procedures and that he would have pay over $2000. He told them he would have to think about it and the financial advisor became very hostile and tried to high pressure him into a deal. My husband called our dental insurance plan and filed a complaint. When another family member needed dental cleaning, he was told that they would no longer provide him or our family with dental care because my husband complained to the insurance company. The complaints against Dental Plus by other patients are true. All Dental Plus cares about is money from the patients. Be informed and find a dental office that cares about its patients and not about their money.

Think Green

by Anonymous

I had a deep cleaning procedure done and that included a return to office for the removal of medication that was placed inside both my top back and lower back molers'. When I arrived there the lady at the front desk mentioned that I am not scheduled to have the removal procedure, even though I had the written proof (appointment card) that I did. She jabbered about how unfortunately it was a mistake and she would get "someone" to help me. 30 minutes later I go in and sit down, then wait for another 30 minutes waiting for that "someone" to show up. The process seemed straight forward but inexperienced "someone" ended up hearting me. Anyhow then I met with the financial "adviser" to go over other procedures that needed to be done that added up well over $800 that had to come out of my pocket. These procedures are just not "valid", because unfortunately I came to there office because my previous dentist retired and before I left he went over an evaluation of my current dental state and my next scheduled appointment should only be for cleaning not deep cleaning. Also there was a $94 dollar charge that was automatically done on my first "evaluation" appointment that I steal have not received a credit check on it because they weren't suppose to charge me for that. Beware if you go, I for sure will not return.

Horrible, just Horrible! Assembly line dentistry!

by Anonymous

Having done several porcelain fillings, gotten my wisdom teeth removed and a couple of root canals, I have seen my share of dentists in the past three years, and none worse than Dental Plus. I echo what everyone says, this place is a complete assembly line operation, you see people in and out and get moved from office to office, on my visit today I saw a total of 3 receptionists, 2 dental assistants, 2 dentists, 1 "used car saleswoman" and 1 Roisman (not Leon but Randy). All in a compact 2 1/2 hours! In the end, when I left, I didn't even get to do what I intended to do, which was to clean my teeth! (provided it's my first appointment and apparently they won't clean your teeth until they sell you a car) First complaint is the dentist, I had a Dr. Adrian, who was nice enough and used a small camera to rock around my mouth and show me what crappy teeth I have (appreciate it!). Then I talked to the saleswoman Carmen (or as other people say, the "closer") who referred me to see Dr. Friedman, who proceeded to tell me that what Dr. Adrian said is 1/2 Phooey, and that the root canal consultation she recommended will not tell me anything, and that "total reconstruction" amounted to a nightguard and a slow but methodical fix of several small problems (I appreciated this honest feedback, but what does this say about Dr. Adrian?). Then I go back to wait again for the "closer" because apparently they won't clean your teeth until you agree to pay them a king's ransom for procedures you don't need. What do I see? The "closer" comes into the waiting room and talks to another patient in Spanish in front of me for 5 minutes! I got up and went to find management, now comes Randall Roisman. He was a rude man who basically said I was unreasonable to expect a speedy service and that I was rude in requesting a cleaning this visit. At this moment I asked to be excused and got the heck OUT of this place! When you as a NEW patient is being treated like trash by management, you know this is a place to avoid like plague. No regard for customers...NEVER AGAIN!

Horrible!...I should have read the reviews!

by Jigga P.

Please read all these reviews... I should have known that a place that has its own financial advisors offices (3-4 of them) where these people work full time to collect your cash should have raised a red flag. As I went through their system, they eventually diagnosed me with "periodontal disease", which is ok, but the scare tactics that were utilized to get get me to buy into their program (which was EXTREMELY expensive after researching other prices in the community) were too much. It really felt like high pressure sells...from a dentist office? I wondered how a place could afford not just 1, but 3-4 full time financial advisors. Think about it, a majority of dentist offices have a secretary or dental assistant, who handles the charges, but also does other operations within the business. At Dental Plus, they have 3-4 full time people SOLEY dedicated to getting your money!
When trying to assess how long I had before negative consequences would occur (because my wife & I had a vacation scheduled in 2 weeks) for my condition, she stated, "...not long, I myself would get the work done before the vacation, if you wait until after your vacation it could be bad ".
This sense of urgency scared me, so when I left their office, I called 2 other dentist to ask them about periodontal disease, & they stated although a problem it is not as urgent as Dental Plus stated. One also stated that he estimated that more than 50% of people have peridontal disease (which was really common), & tried to reassure me that my teeth would not immediately fall out like they said!

As a health care worker, I realize the importance of a doctor & organization with the goal of having YOUR HEALTH as the most important thing (known as patient centered care)...
Dental Plus does NOT acheive this basic, yet vital concept as their top priority is MONEY, not your health!

This misinformation is vital as they alienate people, because as the general public & thier consumers we trust what they say!

Unethical Billing Practices....

by Anonymous

I can't comment on the quality of dental services provided, but I can comment on their unethical billing practices.

My wife originally scheduled an appointment for our son to be seen by a pediatric dentist in the practice. After receiving a second opinion from one of our family friends who is a dentist, we decided to cancel the appointment.

A month later we received a bill for $25.00 stating that we had not cancelled our appointment 24 hours in advance of the appointment date. Keep in mind that we had never set foot into the building and we had never even been notified of such a cancellation policy. In fact, my wife had cancelled the appointment at least 3 to 4 days prior to the appt. - however the receptionist who took her call was none to pleased about the cancellation and the failure to reschedule. After calling the billing department and complaining, someone told me not to worry about it and that the charge would be cancelled.

Fast forward to today, I received another bill for $25.00 from these guys - this time the explanation for the fee was a previously unpaid bill - see above! Unbelievable! I will wait and see if I receive a third bill from these guys.

Worst Place Ever

by Anonymous

While they did a great job on my cavities, the business overall is a scam! The dentist told me that I might not have to have a procedure done--she wanted to check with a specialist who was not in the office that day; but when I spoke to the billing department, they lied and said that she had spoken to the specialist and that the procedure was required! They billed me over $2,000 for procedures that I wound up getting a second opinion on and found out I didn't need. When I canceled the appointments, they said they would refund the money. But over a month and a half later they still won't refund the money. They avoid my calls when I call, and when I finally did get a hold of the director of operations she was very rude and informed me that they weren't going to refund all of my money because what they had originally charged me for for procedures that had been completed were "merely estimates" and now those estimates had gone up! This place is only out for your money! Be aware of the billing people!

Stressed Out

by notodentalplus d.

They are absolutely the worst company to deal with. They illegally charged me thousands of dollars before I even had work done. They didn't tell me of any other less expensive options I had, they just chose the most expensive solutions for me and made it seem like this was my only option or nothing at all. Then, when I cancelled the appointment because of an emergency, they didn't credit the money they charged me till over a month later! They didn't even credit me back the full amount either. Still trying to get all my money back. I had to spend more money just to try and fix the problem and sadly it still isn't completely resolved. You're better off going to a random dentist with no insurance. It'll still be 3 times cheaper because most will be honest with you.

Welcome to the Jungle . . . You're Gonna DIE!!!

by Mo S.

Dental Plus has no pluses. This place is Unethical, Unorganized, Disrespectful, and Rip-Off. They really don't care about your dental health, but it seems they really care about Mr. Roisman's boat payments. They put you in a waiting room, to talk to a loan counselor. It feels like I'm going to buy a new car with the loan process every time. They forget my appointments. I showed up once to be told I don't have an appointment. So I left only to get a phone call 15 minutes after I left on my way back to work telling me that I did in fact have an appointment asking me to come back. I refused and was furious. They will not schedule your next cleaning before you leave and make you call back 3 months ahead of time, their excuse was they can't schedule appointments 6 months in advance. I wonder what they do with all that money they charge people. Maybe they can buy a computer. They charged my in advance of doing my root canal and crown and I found out that they are not supposed to do that in my dental plan, and that is in fact illegal.I hate going there and am going to changes ASAP. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!

Sales Organization

by Mark T.

When I walked into the office, I saw what I think were called treatment counselors or something like that. Alerts immediately went off in my head. Why do they need sales people in a dentist office? Apparently they are into scaring people into accepting expensive treatments that their insurance don't cover.

They told me that unless I take the treatment they recommended, they wouldn't clean my teeth. These treatments would cost me $1500 in addition to my copay and what my insurance covers. I walked out and found another dentist.

PROS: Good looking dental assistants.
CONS: Try to rip people off.
