The California Science Center is essentially the GREATEST hot spot in the SoCal to have a great time while at the same time learning quite a bit. The Science Center itself is exceptionally enthralling in how fun it makes learning otherwise drab subjects.

Also, lets not forget the Imax Theatre! The shear experience of seeing an a video of that magnitude ITSELF makes coming a worthwhile experience, but why not add to that the fact that you're watching video FILMED for the big screen, as opposed to going to everyday theatres that simply blow up a low resolution set of film.

Either way, you can't stay in the SoCal without coming at least once.

The California Science Center which is located near USC is a great place to go if you want to learn and feel like a kid again. The admission is free and can get pretty crowded especially on weekend afternoons.

There are all kinds of exibits and interactive events to play with. There is also an IMAX theater, but I believe you have to pay for that.

While this IMAX theater does not play the most up to date and "modern" of movies, it does provide an extremely interesting IMAX experience in the scientific sense. Most of the movies here are about nature and the beautiful landscapes that are present in our nature today. They also present interesting problems or unique locations to the general viewing audience. This is perhaps one of the best scientific IMAX theaters I have seen in a long time and it rotates at a pretty decent rate too. If you want a movie that educates the children while providing beautiful views, come to this IMAX theater. Of course, the movie is a bit more pricey than a normal movie, but I think it is well worth it.

One of the few museums in Los Angeles that you will actually enjoy taking your kids to. There are fun and interactive games that include racing cars and every exhibit has an explanation that non science savvy people can understand. It's a great way to spend a weekend afternoon at since it is normally not very crowded at anytime. The best part of the whole place is the giant double helix DNA strand that expands and contracts slowly in the background while you are exploring the museum.

This museum is such a wonderful place to explore for everyone of all ages. They have so many exhibits that challenge your mind and have fun at the same time. They also have a great Imax theater where you can watch a science related show but you do have to pay to get in.

This is absolutely the best place to go with kids for science exhibits. The California Science Center is located in Exposition Park and they have parking available for a flat rate of $6. What's great is the science musuem has no admission fee so it is an inexpensive way to spend the day with the entire family. The museum has so many interative exhibits to look at, touch, and experience first hand. You can easily spend the whole day here having fun.

Man this place is cool! They have all types of crazy exhibits, like the one where they inject plastic into the bodies. It’s a perfect place for kids, obviously, but also has a lot of stuff an adult can do and enjoy. The gift shop is was a little sad, don’t waste your time there. No problem with parking!

I saw a show about sharks here and as is always the case at IMAX, it was a great experience. You feel as if you're right there in it. If it gets too intense, just close your eyes!

Off Figueroa Street, this is a multimilion dollar showcase for scientific education. With thousand of pressable buttons, some of the highlights of the museum include a walk in microscope, dizzying motion simulators, and a giant talking robot that offers biology instruction.

I went to the BodyWorld exhibit for its last weekend here. It was crowded, but the parking was conveniently-close and the girl at the ticket counter was very helpful about getting us the earliest time possible. I would recommend buying tickets on-line prior to visiting, especially for a popular exhibit like this one. As for the Body World exhibit which is over but now there is Part 2, I would NOT recommend this particular exhibit for children. Even though it was interesting, it was quite graphic and morbid. IMAX was very cool.

I take my kids here alone and sometimes with groups of friends and we have had alot of fun everytime we have gone. Tons of things to see and touch and run and play with. Fun for the entire family. Donation at the door so the most you really pay for is parking. $6 isnt bad for a day of fun!

How often do you get to spend a day at an entertainment/educational center, thrilling yourself and family members for absolutely no admission fee (though donations are advised)? In L.A. the Science Center is one of those places, and I have been enjoying it since my childhood. Of course, it has been refurbished above and beyond its state during my childhood, and even the most sophisticated and tech-saavy kids of today will find this museum interesting. There are great exhibits about space, commuications, seismology, and anatomy. Kids with all kinds of interests will love the hands-on approach to the whole museum. There are interactive programs as well as an IMAX theatre (for a fee). Let the kids run wild...or just go by yourself, you'll love it!

Great museums. I am a huge museum fan, though this seems to be mostly suited to children it is very educational for all ages. It has a tremendous showcase of one on one exhibits and interactive exhibits for everyone. It's always fun to learn when you can try something out and experience it live. Very great museum in a nice location near USC and other museums.

A perfect museum to take the elementary school kids on a field trip. This center is enormous and it contains tons of information and interactive stations to keep the mind flowing with ideas and questions. One of the funnest exhibits was a simulation of the San Francisco quake. Great exhibits and lots of room for children to explore freely without worrying about "not touching anything". Bring everyone.

A great place to take the whole family. My 4 year old and 13 year old each had just as much fun. Its great that theres nothing there they CANT touch! The museum is free, though it accepts donations. Parking is $5 where there is a shuttle to the center. Pack a lunch and eat in the rose garden. Fun day for the WHOLE family!

This is the main Los Angeles science museum and it is a joy to go to. After they rennovated they managed to keep the old facade of the original museum (called the LA Museum of Scince and Industry) on the rose garden side of the complex which makes that area a wonderful place to relax during your visit. The new IMAX theater is great and can show 3D IMAX movies, and the new Aerospace museum is also great! Check for their latest exhibits, but dropping in at any time still guarantees that you will have more than enough to do and enjoy.

A very interesting place to take kids older than 6 years. Free admission to regular exhibits with parking fee of $5. They have a lot of fun and interactive special events through out the year. The Imax movie is okay...but small kids might find it boring. In a nutshell, its a must go place for boys showing interest in science& gadgets

This is one of THE premier sites for families in Los Angeles. I have gone alone and with children of all ages and have a blast every time. There is a huge variety of exhibits focusing on all areas of natural and physical sciences, from earthquakes to the principles of sound to human biology. My favorite exhibit is an interactive display about comparative anatomy...be sure to check out the BodyWorks show! You may even get to see a baby chick hatch.

Children are free to touch exhibits, enhancing the learning process. There are several films including the IMAX theatre in an adjacent building. Children in particular seem to enjoy the exhibits about space and marine biology.

The museum is free, though it accepts donations. Parking is $5 but isvery convenient; alternative, there is limited street parking (but not recommended, this is not the safest area of town).

If you have time, check out some of the nearby museums such as the Natural History Museum (though kids don't seem to enjoy those

The Science Center is mostly free, and a good place to take the kids, but older kids might be a little bored. Their current special exhibit, though, is worth it for all ages. The BodyWorks exhibit is little pricey, but definitely worth it, especially if you can get the student ID discount. The exhibit is amazing and scary and weird and will flilp your mind - you get to see how your body works (hence the name) through exhibits of real bodies and body parts that show certain body functions. It is cooler than it sounds.

There's a McDonald's downstairs, which you may or may not want to go to after seeing exhibits on what authentic clogged arteries look like.

Oh, and I would skip the IMAX movie that you can see for a few bucks more. It's interesting, but not too exciting.
