I took my Tag here to replace the pin on the band. The guy behind the counter told me to come back in 30 mins and when I returned, the watch wasn't ready. No big deal.... But then he asks me to hold my watch on his anvil so he could pound a makeshift pin into the band!!! He then hands me the watch and I point out that the pin he just inserted is starting to fall out. He asks me to hold the watch again and this time, he pounds even harder. He was pounding so hard that he broke his tool. I was shocked. OK, so he tells me no charge but my watch not only has a broken band, but the body is scratched pretty bad and the bezel is now loose from all the pounding. I'm not even gonna worry about getting him to repair or fix or even compensate me for damages. I just want my watch back and I'm driving all the way to San Francisco in the traffic during rush hour paying tolls just to get my watch repaired by Baily Banks and Biddle. I'll pay the fees and wait the two weeks even though the watch hospital is 5 minutes down the road. If you have a nice watch, you should do the same. Sorry Watch Hospital, I'm not letting you touch anything valuable ever again.

my Tag Heuer needed repair (after returning from an authorized factory repair and the entire face was moving on the watch). The owner of this business took excellent care of my prized watchand returned it in new condition. I really don't know why the owner of the older watch who blogged this site had any complaints except that perhaps he saw his watchthrough rose colored glasses and did not recognize many years of wear.personally I don't think the Watch Hospital's job was to return to me an untouched watch, but rather to help we have my favorite watch which has served me well back so that I could continue to enjoy it for a long time to come. and as for the authorized service center back east. It was a waste of my time. The Watch Hospital was worth the trip!

On the negative review on the Watch Hospital. I have been dealing with the Watch Hospital for over 35 years. I believe that no one, no where tries harder to make things right when there is a problem with your watch. Obviously this guy truly does have too much time on his hands. Most of Alameda already knows who this guy(Nick) is and he's not playing with a full deck. I understand that he threatened to picket the store and threatened the employees. Apparently the police got involved and obviously he backed off, except now he apparently spends his spare time on the net putting up the same negative review on as mant sites as he can find. Lets face it, the Watch Hospital has been in business for some 38 years and if they were as bad as this guy says, they would not still be around. I really appreciate what they have done for me over the years. I'd love to meet this guy just to see how much of an idiot he really is. If I was the owner of the store, I'd have him in court for slander, but I think they have too much class to waste thier time.

The Watch Hospital has the dubious distinction of providing me with the worst consumer experience ever. They nearly destroyed my very nice automatic Longines Swiss watch. I took it in for a clean and service, which automatic watches need periodically. When I got it back, there was more dirt inside than before I took it in, the faceplate was bent, the date changed at 10:30 rather than 12:00, and the time keeping was terrible. After 2 more attempts, they managed to fix these problems, but the watchmaker had put so many scratches on the back from having to take it off so many times, the watch looked just awful. So after visit number 4, he managed to polish them off, and I thought everything was finally OK. But it wasn't - the date wheel got stuck betwen 6 and 7. During all this time the lady behind the counter was rude and condescending - she even had the cheek to suggest that I had too much time on my hands to look closely at my watch and spot their defective workmanship! They stopped taking my calls and ignored my letters. So I did what I should have done in the beginning and sent the watch back to Longines. They said that the watch hadn't even been cleaned and the date wheel was broken. They ended up replacing the crystal (again) and the hands and crown, which were all scratched up. They did a beautiful job - the watch is as nice as the day I bought it - and all for less money. Avoid the Watch Hospital like the plague - they are truly awful."

I took a couple of watches here for repair. After a number of weeks, a number of promised phone calls to update me on the status of my watches, and failing to deliver my watches on time, I gave up and got my watches back. The woman who runs the place really needs to do a much better job of setting and meeting expectations.

I recently had a watch fixed there and I can't tell you how happy I am. I am in retail myself and these people go way overboard to take care of you. I had gone to 2 places before I went to the Watch Hospital and one place they were not very helpful and the other just wanted to send my watch out somewhere else. The WH did my repairs in house and made it look almost new ( I beat my stuff bad). I hear it is on old family business. All I can say is, try it once.
