Blu Monkey Bar & Lounge

I went to the Blu Monkey on Sat, it was an unbelievable experience. The ambiance of this place is great. The lighting was just right. The drinks are strong and in-expensive, seating is available at no cost. there is No cover charge at the door.Its comfortable, the music was live, the DJ's are hot. The crowd was really chill. My girls and I loved this place and have made this our new hot spot! Its a must GO To place! u wont regret it!

the crowd that moved in were al friends of the band, no freindly, nice, good to look at, or anything else.

i would not go back. ever

Went down last Saturday with a couple of friends for a few cocktails, we ended up staying all night. The energy of this place was great. The Dj was awesome. The mixed crowd was down to earth. The bar staff without attitude. Drinks were good and at a fair price. Beautiful decor, with a smoking patio. Best of all NO COVER. Everything I like in a Bar. Keep it up Blu Monkey.

I had my birthday gathering here last Saturday and it was Awesome! I had a really great time at this place! I didn't even feel like celebrating this year because I've been sooooo broke,but when I called this place they didn't charge me for my reservation or require me to buy a bottle which was super cool because most places do. The staff was really nice, the Dj was great, the drinks were perfect.I have absolutely no complaints.

Has got to be, hands down the worst service i have ever had. These girls were so slow and obnoxious to top their poor skills. Waited close to 30 minutes for one freakin drink and basically ingnored most times throughout the night. Whats up with management? Hire some people that know how to bartend and aren't so damn rude!!! Awful and ugly place!!

I just moved her from New York. A couple of friends just took me to The Blue Monkey and it reminded me of the bars back home. Nice vibe, mixed crowd,awesome dj, great staff, and a cool smoking patio off the back. I had a great time. I will be comming back.

First off $10 for valet, in this area? It's a joke! Sitting at a cramped, sticky bar only to be ignored by the hilariously slow blonde girl. Music with the trebble turned up so loud, it could shatter glass. Wet dirty cushions on the patio and having my drink taken away for going outside to smoke and get my a** soaked. This self proclaimed hot spot did not live up to any of the ridiculously similar reviews i had read on here before going to this place. Fast bartenders? Strong drinks? trendy? Great music? Did i go on the wrong night or to the wrong place? Or maybe this place just s**ks big time!! I think the latter, but you can go find out for yourself if you'd like to experience all of the above. Maybe i did go on an off night, but i'm not willing to go back to find out! If i'm in the area think i'll go to the White Horse, or maybe i should buy an Andy Gump and call it a lounge.

I've heard great things about the Blue Monkey before but I've never had the chance to visit. Last weekend I attended my friends Birthday Party and I loved it! Everything I've heard about this place is true. The Dj was Awesome! The atmosphere was wonderful. The ambiance was great even out on the smoking patio. The crowd was friendly and down to earth. The staff and Bartenders where also very friendly. The drinks where good and best of all there was no cover and they don't even charge for reservations. Thank you Blue Monkey!! I will be back!!

I used to love this place. What happened is all i want to ask?!! absurdly expensive for the poor service and weak drinks!! Word to the wise, with so many places to go in hollywood, i advise going to those places rather than here. Or just stay home!

I can't believe I never knew about this spot before.
So I celebrated my birthday there and we had so much fun.
The music was great!
The atmosphere was so great!
I was having so much fun, I lost my favorite hair clip. (i wonder if anyone found it)
The staff were so nice....

went to this bar last sat for the first time and i loved it. Most of the areas were reserved i guess for parties, but found a stool at the bar and hung out all night with a couple of friends. the bartenders were quick which was surprising as most places you wind up waiting 20 mins before you get a drink. the dj was great as well playing a wide variety of music. we had an amazing time and will most definitely frequent this place more often.

After reading some reviews, decided to check this place out. So went over there with a couple of friends this past saturday. We were a little hesitant at first looking on from the outside. Once inside that all changed, a definite surprise. The decor was pretty cool and gotta love the 8o's music playing. The bartender was quick to make us a drink and before we knew it the place was packed with a dj palying some really great stuff. All in all wound up having a really good time. Excellent bartenders, great music, really good cosmos a little too many LOL, and just a really fun night. we'll make it a point to come back:)

I've been here on a Sat night when it was so packed you couldn't move -- great stuff. Unfortunately, I came on a Thursday night to have a "send off" party for a friend. The door and city search both say they open at 8pm, but they didn't open until 9pm -- so we waited 1/2 hour outside for the doors to open. Were were having a great time for about an hour (the bartender was awesome, as well) until "Comedy Night" began -- we had no idea this cool, hip, eclectic bar was going to have "comedy night". The MC was abusive, not funny, and cursed at us unrelentlessly because we were talking. We were practically the only customers in the bar and we did not come for the show. We finally had to take the party elsewhere as the unfunny, abuse never stopped and several in the group were getting afraid. I would not recommend EVER coming here on a Thursday night until "Comedy Night" ends.

This is a trendy relaxed lounge with great bartenders, the service was rapid. There was plenty of seating and it was comfortable. Great tunes, I suggest coming here to just chill and vibe out.

Okay,so I recently just turned 21 and I celebrated at blu monkey. I actually did some research & with the useful reviews,I decided to check it out .I was not disappointed at all!!It was great!!Friendly staff,friendly bartenders,its a romantic place,no coverage at all!If you decide to celebrate their,just be there at a certain time and its kinda first come first serve! If you are looking to party and dance alot,this isnt a place. They have a mini dancefloor enough to just chill.Everything else is great!!I highly recommend you guys to check this place out!! When you get there,the outside kinda looks like a warehouse,but once you're in,you'll be like wow! there is an outdoor patio area if you're a smoker.It's a really nice place with a great vibe,romantic scene,relaxing,i'm running out of words to describe this place so you just have to go there and see it for yourself!!!Hope you guys enjoy & hope that this will be helpful !!great place!!!

I've been there once and will definitely make a point on going again. This bar attracts a very good-looking crowd ranging from mid to late 20s. The DJ spins mostly hip-hop so the dance floor is always jumping. The bouncers are great, the drinks strong, and valet is reasonably priced. The only con is that the venue is veryyy small. Very little room to dance and the smoking patio leaves much to be desired. But besides that, it's fabulous.

I celebrated my birthday here last weekend and had the best time!!! The owner is amazing and very accomodating even if you have a large group of people. The service was very good and the DJ was awesome. We had the whole VIP section by the dancefloor and danced all night. It is nice to see that there are still places in L.A. that care about you and your needs without charging your guests cover and pressuring bottle service on you. I highly recommend this place to anyone for any occasion! Check it out for yourself and I promise you won't be dissapointed!!! THIS PLACE ROCKS!!!

The good reviews are true, awesome lounge! I chose this for my bday party because of the previous reviews, available parking, and no cover. I called them and reserved two tables, and it was free to do that for the birthday party and they were really nice. They said to get there before 10 to get the tables, so we did, and it was dead before 10. It was still early so I was thinking it would get better but a few girls left my bday party because they wanted more action. By 11 though, the DJ came out, people started dancing and it was awesome music!!! There are places to sit, nice people, I loved it!!!! We had a range of people with different tastes at my party and the ones that stayed loved it.

Cons: if you're looking for more like a club instead of a lounge don't go here.

I reserved one of the VIP sections for my best friend's birthday and had a GREAT time. The service is great, I love the ambiance, and people were dancing all night. I definitely recommend this lounge. I seriously can't believe that there's no cover charge at this place!

can't tell from front door that it's a cool place. parking in the back, had to walk thru cracked concrete. scary. but once in the bar, totally worth it.
but later the music was TOO LOUD, can't have a conversation and too crowded to dance. there's no dance floor.

Went for the first time a coulpe of weekends ago after reading some reviews. What find, my friends and i loved the place. The decor is beautiful, the staff was friendly and quick, and the dj was excellent. We will definetely be back!

I recently discovered the blu monkey a few mondays ago. I never expected it to be so beautiful inside. There weren't many people, which i didn't mind. It was nice to just realx and talk to the bartender on occasion, who was surprisingly nice. I've been back a few times since and on the weekends as well. Was a little too packed for me and a bit loud on the Saturday i went, but i still love the place. i'll keep going, but i think i'll stick to the weekdays:)

Now that I've discovered this place, I now come here quite frequently. The atmosphere is stunning and inviting. The DJ is great at knowing what people want to hear. And the service is awesome. I am also happy there is a place in Hollywood where I can still smoke- the smoking patio, that is. I always have a great time here and will continue to come back.

Just had my bday at The blu Monkey....I highly recommend it......It's great to have a place in Hollywood where you don't have to buy $500 bottle service just to have a place to sit down.....Blu Monkey has it all, great atmosphere and music.....I'm definitely coming back to this place.

Went on a Saturday and it was a great place to meet up with friends and hang out. The music was upbeat and eclectic. Tons of comfy sitting corners and sofa areas. Playful decor and good mix of people. Drinks were moderately priced and no cover charge.

My friend and I just had our B-day party there and it was amazing. Carol, took such great care of us and even called me the day before to make sure we were o.k. and didn't need anything. She even helped us with booking a DJ. Great place, Great Staff, Great bar!

The Blu Monkey was amazing! Great atmosphere, great drinks, great music. My friends are still raving about it. I had never been there before, but decided to have my birthday party there after speaking with Vince and Carol. We all had such a great time; we will definitely come back and will refer others. The vibe is unlike any other lounge.

I'm not one to normally post a comment, but i had to come on here and say the blu monkey is kickazz. Was there saturday 1/7 with a group of girlfriends. We loved the dj and the batenders were amazing and cool as hell. drinks were a bit pricey, but for the atmosphere and the no attitude it was worth it. A lot of cute guys too;), my girlfriends and i had a blast

I live walking distance from the Blue Monkey and it is my favorite spot! The decor is awesome, the DJ's spin tight music like funk, break beats, and fusion! The drinks are reasonably priced and everyone is really nice. It's also pretty empty on weekedays so it's great for a casual drink after work. Highly recommended!

I had a surprise birthday party for my husband at the blu monkey lounge on sat 12/10. Everything was great. The owner was very helpful, the deal was very reasonable and the staff was very friendly. The owner and his assistants were in touch with me and called to get updates and to offer suggestions and help. The night of the party the place looked great and they let me come earlier to prepare the appetizers and to decorate and they offered me help. The decor, the music and the vibe were all incredible and my guests were very happy and impressed. I highly recommend the blu monkey lounge for your next party or just for a fun night out. I recently went to the Blue Monkey Lounge for a friends party and I had such an awesome time. We had a our own VIP spot reserved, very comfortable and pleasant. The staff was very friendly and pleasant, not snobish at all like some other bars Ive recently been too. There was a mixed crowd, good music and the drinks were at a reasonable price. It is very exotic with its Moroccan decor with a patio were you can sit, hang out and have a smoke. This bar is very mellow and kick back, but still has that night club vibe to it.

A girlfriend of mine had mentioned this great new lounge in the neighborhood, the Blu Monkey. I finally checked it out and was so pleased I had. The lounge is gorgeous, the bartenders were friendly and fun, and the prices decent. Loungy smoking patio a plus. A comfortable bar that makes you feel at home. I've been back numerous times since.

its so nice to have a beautiful little jewel like the blu monkey in the neighborhood!
i love the wonderful colors and great vibe, the owner is always there and the bartenders and doormen actually remember you. With the crazy pace of los angels, is great to go for drinks and music to a place where you are transported to anotehr world, and the outdoor patio is really a treasure.

went to the blu monkey with a group of friends for a party a couple of weeks ago. we had reserved one of the areas of the bar. it was nicely lit with candles and quite cozy as well. sat right by the dj who was great, he took most of our requests and played his own eclectic mix throughout the night. the place did get busy as the night went on, but loved the fact that we could all sit back and relax in our own little space with no intrusion. the owner was very friendly, offering a few of us some drinks on him. there is also an outdoor area, which i found to be a huge plus. was especially nice to go out and just cool off after dancing like a fool half of the night. unfortunately closing time came,but we can always go back

having just moved to the neighborhood from new york, i was very pleased to find a bar like this in my area. the outdoor area is great. felt as though i was back home the second i stepped foot outside. plus i'm a smoker, so it was a huge plus having been able to enjoy a smoke and my cocktail while sitting in a comfortable outdoor atmosphere. the night i went was a mixed crowd all seeming to be very friendly with no attitude. the people behind the bar were very approachable as well, making conversation whenever they had the chance. beautifully decorated inside, kind of a middle eastern sort of vibe. still have to make the rounds being new to the area, but so far the blu monkey is one of the bars i've been to that i will definitely frequent.

I recently went to the Blu Monkey for a friends birthday party and was very pleasantly surprised. I admit that Upon finding out that I was heading to Western and Hollywood I didn't expect much but instead what I found was a beautiful bar (sort of a Moroccan vibe), with plenty of seating and great music. But Perhaps the best thing about the place were the girls behind the bar; Cute, friendly, and able to make one of the best Martini's I've had in a long time. Highly recommended!

The thing about the blu monkey is the people. The crowd is eclectic and interesting and hasn't settled into one sort of groove yet. The bartenders are amazing and the owners are cool and regularly there. It's good for drinking at the bar or for vibing with the dj's who vary wildly in style on their great sound system. The best thing about it is that it's the size of a local bar, with a nightclub vibe.

This bar has a lot going for it: great music by a live DJ, an outdoor area for smokers and a funky and kitsch look on the inside. BUT... I was there on October 2 for a friend's Sat night birthday bash and encountered a woman bartender who was not just rude; she was positively hostile and aggressively sarcastic. I will NEVER go back. If you're out for a pleasant and fun evening with good energy avoid the Blu Monkey!

have been to the blu monkey several times. after reading some of the negative reviews i felt as though i'd like to add my 2 cents worth as well, and say i have never had a bad experience. i find the bartenders to be very friendly and accommodating even when the bar has been at its busiest. the place itself i think is a rare find in this area of hollywood. beautiful decor inside and a great outdoor area in the back. prices are reasonable as well, at least a lot better than the trendy supposed hot spots down west on sunset. where all i ever get is an attitude after paying for a fifteen dollar drink that tastes like juice. overall i'm glad i found this bar in my neighborhood, great djs on the weekend and a mellow kick-back atmosphere during the week. will continue to go

I had my birthday party here the other Saturday and I was very happy with the place. Not crowded at all, but a great space. I had the impression that it's not well known yet or there would have been more people. My drinks were a little strong, which surprised me because other reviews said they'd be weak. I ordered a vodka & red bull and there was only like a dash of the red bull in it. Great couches, nice VIP areas. Only complaint is that it got a little warm in there and I eventually hung in their outdoor area to cool off.

I went to the Blu Monkey to celebrate a friends birthday. This is the first time I visited the blu monkey, let alone heard of it. Although I liked the fact that they let our party bring their own food/appetizers, the service from the bartenders was horrible. The drinks were pretty soft and expensive. A couple shots and two beers set me back $30. My Vodka and cran was served in a very small high glass and had litle vodka. The live DJ was a plus and the atmosphere was good, but the soft liquor and attitude from the bartenders will keep me away from this place.
