I bought an electrical part but before paying I asked the manager if it was okay to bring it back if I already had the part, I asked because a sign on wall says no returns on electrical parts. He said yes you can bring it back. turned out I had it so brought the part back and the owner says no way I said the manager said I could bring it back if I had it, he just pointed to the sign and said no refund, so I said bye thats the end of my custom at your place, and I ahve spent maybe a couple of thousand dollars at this shop, but no more. Bad customer service

We have been taking our vehicles to Chip since my son bought his first car in 1997 (a 1972 VW beetle) so we go back a few years... He is completely honest, they do excellent work and the charges are better than most shops in the area. A mechanic picking his nose on his lunch break seems like a fair trade given that I am more concerned with the car being repaired properly by a mechanic than social graces. Try them and I doubt you'll ever go anywhere else.

Chip and staff rebuilt a Vanagon engine for me 5 years ago and it is still running strong -- and just as most all of the customers state below, I have always been treated well, gotten a fair price, and received straight answers on my VW questions.

I have had my wifes VW New beetle serviced here- oil changes, check engine problem, and new brakes, as well as service on my 06 I always get good service and good advice, they are now my go- to's now for all my vehicles.

Chip is the man. He doesn't BS around at all. Pricing is the absolute best in OC. I am not sure what the guy below was expecting. He waked into a repair shop as a parts customer for a 20 cent item and expected a very very busy shop and owner Chip to immediately help him. Unique Imports is a repair shop not a parts shop. Go to autozone if you need cheap parts, they can pay a kid $8.00 per hour to wait on you hand and foot. Sorry I just get frustrated because Chip and all the guys at Unique have been very very good to me.

I walked into Unique as a parts customer around 1pm. I entered to see 5 techs and a guy in a tee shirt eating lunch all over the front counter and talking like sailors. That might not have been so bad had one of them not had his finger jammed in his nose to the knuckle for the entire time I was there. I stood at attention at the only bare space at the counter for about 3 minutes before someone decided to ask: "Do you need something?" "Yes... I need to buy some parts... I need headlight housings and a "C" clip for the rear axle bearing on an IRS." I replied. You would have thought that I asked him to explain the theory of relativity. He flipped through a catalogue for a few minutes and pointed at a picture "Is this what you want?" "No, I need regular light housings..." He told me to wait for Chip because "Chip will know if we have those". He walked out and came back 5 minutes later. "Chip will be in in a minute." I waited 5. Chip came in talking on a cell phone. The last thing I heard was "Whatever, it's just another car... it's just another job... I don't care..." and hung up. He then answered another phone call and threatened to fire the person on the other end if they did not show up in 20 minutes. That kind of thing is better left in private. He then stood up and spotted a vendor in the store and said "Wait up, I need to talk to you." He disappeared into the back. I was standing in that store, watching dirty filthy techs eat lunch like animals at the counter for 15 minutes only to get blown off for a vendor. all I can say is ...wow. I walked out at that point. And if you wanted to know, that guy still had his finger in his nose. For his sake, I hope he got what he was digging for. It sure looked important to him. More important than the customer at the counter...

I've been going to unique imports since I was 16 and had a classic squareback. That was 14 year ago. Since then Chip has taken care of my two westfalia vanagons. The best price around, and they get you taken care of right away. Lots of knowledge, especially vw's, and an honest fair price.

My wife and I have been going to Unique Imports for the past 10 years; for every automotive need or repair on our three cars. Chip and his Mechanics are the FAIREST and most HONEST in the South County auto repair business. They don't do work that is not necessary, they tell you if something wrong or needs to be fixed or replaced and he charges you an HONEST rate for labor and parts. Chip does what he say's he will do, he tells you what you NEED to do, it may not be exactly what you want to hear, but it IS what needs to be done. Oh and they actually stand behind their work! I cannot give them enough praise. Try them once and you will be back for good. By the way the work on ANY make and model of vehicle.
