Mother Goose School has been serving families of San Francisco and the Bay Area since 1951. We are open to all children between the ages of two and six. The primary focus of the school is to instill in each child a lifelong enjoyment of the learning process. The school is comprised of five developmental levels ranging from nursery through kindergarten age. Mother Goose School is a year-round school open from 7:00AM to 6:00PM, Monday through Friday. We prepare and serve a hot, well balanced lunch each day; as well as nutritious mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack.
I went to Mother Goose (1978) & both my boys
by Stephany M.
I attended Mother Goose 30 years ago still have fond memories of the staff and entire experience. There is a family type of environment along a fantastic learning environment. Not only is the space great (nice outdoor area plus spacious inside), they have home made hot meals everyday.
Both of my boys attended (2002-2005 & 2005-2008) and their transition into Catholic school was seamless. They always speak about their experience in a positive light and miss attending. Ms. May, Ms. Mildred & Ms. Linda are the BEST teachers ever - they are fun but still have control over their classroom. My youngest son ended up reading by the end of his stay at Mother Goose. Mrs, Susan is very open minded and will listen to any concerns you may have - and she will follow up. They are also very reasonably priced compared to other SF preschools. I love Mother Goose!!!

A great school with the structure the kids need!
by darren l.
This facility is a great place for kids to learn on all levels: Creativity, linguistics, fun time, etc. My daughter just turned 3 and is a handful, strong-willed like mom and dad. Not only are my observations are a 5 star, but my daughter looks forward (with great enthusiasm) each day of going to 'esquella' (my daughter is half Hispanic). If your child does not respond well to structure, find another facility. In my view, their curriculum and structure prepares kids for the real-world and maximizes their development.

Good school
by Al S.
I'm surprised that someone ranked Mother Goose with one star. That does not reflect our experience at all.
Our son has been attending Mother Goose for a year and a half. He enjoys the school. His development has been impressive. The teachers and staff care a lot about him. He's very close to his teachers -- a three year old can't fake affection.
Every other parent I've talked to about the school is happy with it. Many of them have enrolled multiple children in the school.
Perhaps most significantly, Mother Goose has been around for over 50 years, and has been managed by the same family ever since. As a result, they are well known and have a good track record.

Unbiased Review Available

I submit this review without any communication with the school on the topic of reviews, and completely independently. I found this site by accident, looking for the zip code of the school.
Our child has attended Mother Goose school for two years. Our other child, (post-pre-school now) who attended a different San Francisco pre-school entirely, has become the friend of the director. The director has been extremely kind, generous, and supportive of our family. The co-director has also demonstrated great care and concern for our children, as have all the staff.
There may be differences of opinion at any school, between parents and teachers over behavior. That does not entitle anyone to an immature outburst of accusations in a review.
It is an extremely demanding and difficult to teach pre-school children. It requires skills that are undervalued and under appreciated in our society. Teachers are worthy of respect, as are the people who care for my children, as is everyone at Mother Goose, and deservedly so. They do a tremendous job.
The harm that can be done by irresponsible anonymous internet reviews is inexcusable. If you are committed to your child's well being, and you have a legitimate concern, then you should stand up for your child and have the integrity to put your name and phone number on a review. Call me if you want to learn from an independent and unbiased source about our family's experience at Mother Goose. I have no incentive to be anything less than entirely candid.

TOTALLY INAPPROPRIATE APPROACH AND COERSIVE TYPE OF PRE-SCHOOL
by Elizabeth S.
ppropriate "anger" and frustration, and feel scard of this man. Mr. Dana's wife and co-conspirator-Ms Susan does a good job of hiding the true abusive nature of this school.
The program is developmentally inappropriate, with a harsh and unhappy staff, and children unable to cope with the rigorous demands of following orders, and expectations, are punished with shame and humilation.
Do not send your child here!

Mother Goose School

Mother Goose School is a great place for kids. I know of at least two situations where parents came to visit significantly earlier then our friends whose kids joined at 2.5 yo and were so taken with the place that they simply waited for their kids to be old enough so that they could start at Mother Goose School. While looking, our friend visited six caregivers and nothing else came close. Another parent told me that she'd tried twelve with the same finding.
