I like Masala's selection of indian breads and their chicken is awesome. Never had an issue with their deliveries but really enjoyed eating out on their patio. Service was very friendly and very close to the park.

I don't know what they are talking about - we got delivery in the time promised and the food is good. This is our new Indian Delivery place.

Well, before I met my friend Susan, I was almost inept at selecting a good restaurant. I was afraid to try new things and I was a burger hound!!! Well, now that I have had the opportunity to try new and wonderous cuisine, I must say that Masala is right at the top of my list. The atmosphere is very aesthetic and the music makes for a very soothing dining experience. The service is friendly and...oh, the food...all I can say is WOW!!! I didn't know that I liked goat cheese until I tried their goat cheese naan. I was blown away. All their food has a nice texture and is very pleasing to the pallet. If you have not been to this restaurant or have never tried Indian food, this would be a great place to start.

The vegetable pakora is very good as well...a lot of places put way too much batter on theirs and your can't taste the veggies...Masala lightly batters their pakora and it is very light. The mango lassie will make you think you're in India. Well, not enough good things can be said about this place...you will have to try it for yourself. I hope you find this review helpful.

Pros: Great food and wonderful service

Cons: Parking may be hard to find, but well worth it!

Good job, Masala. I went there for the first time a few years ago with friends who lived a few blocks away and RAVED about it. But it turns out that, as usual, their taste kind of sucked -- yeah, not so good. But WOW have they improved. I don't know what has changed, whether it's the management, the chefs, or just the fact that they realized that just because they're at Irving and 9th doesn't mean they don't have to try, but everything we had was really fantastic. The service was fast, friendly, attentive-but-not-hovering, and the food, from the standard Chicken Tikka Masala, Palak Paneer and papadam, to the the lamb biriani and spicy potatoes (don't even know what it was called, actually, but tasty indeed). A definite recommendation. And at the end of the day, with rice, raita, naan and one drink each, it was still only $14 per person. And unlike Naan and Curry, you can actually bring uptight family from out of town...

Cons: Parking probably isn't great, but we walked.

Masala has the rare combination of great ambiance, wonderful & friendly staff, and great food. The dishes can ordered mildy spicy to 3 alarm fire spicy. Nevertheless the food is DONE RIGHT, the chicken in the dishes are buttery soft, the seafood is always fresh , and the spices in the entrees accentuates the meats and vegetables without overwhelming them. The naan that accompany the dishes also has the toasty crust with a soft tasty inside. Whenever I eat there the food is always divine and the staff is so friendly that it's like going over your friend's house and eating dinner there.

This is an intimate and quiet restaurant with thoughtful decor. The food is excellent and tastes very fresh and well spiced. Food is made to order and can be mildly spiced to spicy depending on your preferences. Service is usually attentive and speedy. My personal favorites are the Chicken Madras, a comfortingly sweet coconut and raisin concoction if ordered mild and intensely spicy if not; also the Palak Paneer is deliciously creamy and satisfying. I find myself craving their food more often than Id like to admit, luckily their prices are comparable to Naan n Curry around the corner but the pace of this spot is considerably less hectic. Not to be missed!

The crunchy texture, grilled flavor and hot temperature of the garlic naan was superb. Not greasy and dull. The chicken curry was packed with flavor and juiciness, no pool of oil floating on the top. The chicken texture- soft...like butter, done to perfection. Wonderful selection of vegetarian items. I've eaten Indian food my entire life; my Burmese father lived in India and cooks Indian food. Masala's style is more upscale, thus the slightly more expensive price. I have eaten at other Indian restaurants in the Inner Sunset and can vouch that Masala's cuisine is exquisite. The real deal.

The parking is atrocious. The service was slow on a weeknight. despite few people in the restaurant. Still highly recommended due to the high food quality. Be patient, enjoy your company, and savor the meal.

Cons: Terrible parking, Slow service

The food is very good with many choices available. It was a very clean restaurant with friendly waiters although the food is a little pricey. Maybe having the lunch buffet would be a better alternative on your wallet. I also tried a new Indian beer called Himalayan Blue on the recommendation of the manager and it was a very good beer. It complimented the food much better than other Indian beers I have tried.

I got home from work with one thought in my mind. Indian food. Lots of Indian food. Luckily there was a place down the street from me, and I headed over there, determined to find a great meal. I did. Knowing typical Indian portions are small, I ordered two dishes and some na'an bread. The na'an bread is as good or better than Shalimar down on Jones. The Rhogan Josh and other dish I had were amazing. You can see from the start though, on the menu that the meal will not be cheap. I left the spotless restaurant with my wallet lighter than I'd hoped and my belly contently full...

Masala is a great option for indian. The food is good, with plenty of vegetarian choices, AND the dining room is actually nice, which can't be said. This cannot be said of some of the other indian spots I've been so in the city. I'd recommend masala for indian any day over the others.
