Reviews for Sakae Sushi

Ratings_icons Better than gourmet...

Daniel P.

I grew up eating at Sakae. As I have grown and experienced dozens of other kinds of sushi and sushi restaurants across the U.S, I must say that I prefer Sakae's very small menu over everyone elses, at times, menu of a hundred. I truly believe Sakae is better than gourmet.

sakae sushi has served my family for yearsss. They make great sushi for family get-togethers, picnics, and just causes. Decent prices and great quality. This is not fine-dining high quality but casual lunch, eat with nigiri and teriyaki chicken quality.

Sakae sushi is a small place that only does take-out. The sushi is great and comes in a nice little package. The waiting room has seats and magazines for you while you wait. The box comes with chopsticks with a string tied around it. Yum!

This place is perfect to pick up sushi for a family gathering or just for yourself. Sushi is basic, but made fresh. It really is better than homemade!

I imagine Sakae Sushi is a special place for all Japanese- Americans who grew up in Gardena. I remember seeing the square white box, tied with string and a chopstick placed on top, at all parties and family gatherings. Back then, they only made 2 kinds, Inari and Futo-maki. Today, you can still get those same 2 kinds and just 4 others. No seating area, only room to order and pick up. It's best to phone in your order before picking it up. This "hole in the wall" is a true gem. The sushi is always the same, PERFECT!
