We love Bay Meadows! We held several horse law conferences here and the facilities couldn't be greater or the management more accommodating. Great facility with the longest history of uninterrupted horse racing in the state of California. If you're really a TB horseman, you may be able to get permission to see their private archives on TB horses, incl. Seabiscuit, who raced there. If you know nothing about racing, bet on the jockey "Russell Baze," rather than a horse. My friends took my advice and didn't make a ton of money, but they came away in the plus column.

Okay, I love the races. I remember as a child my mom used to take me to the track and we'd enjoy watching the horses run. While Bay Meadows may be going the way of the dodo bird, I suggest taking advantage of a local race track, and take your kids out on a weekend to enjoy the horses. They often have kid speacials and fun days set up just for families. While you're there, put $2 on hellfire to win for me.

I am not much of a gambling person and I discounted Bay Meadows for a long time. Eventually, I got talked into going and found I had fun! They have lots of events here besides just horse racing and betting. Some days with the admission of $3 they have special promotional items that are useful and fun. Today I got a big beach towel, and other times a sweatshirt, and useful thermos! They have Friday Alive concert nights, and for admission you can see some really good bands. They also have food specials, and it's an interesting place to hang out in the sunshine or on a nice night. And who knows, you might end up feeling lucky and actually win! Lots of people will help you learn how to bet if you want to try, that is for sure.

PROS: free entertainment and promotions with the price of admission
CONS: The place is endangered by nearby development
