I purchased a new chlorine generator cel for my pool Goldline T-15 $539 on sale. At that point they were very helpful and friendly. The next day I went to another pool supply store, they had the same part for $368. I went back to Leslie's with the quote. The kid that was the lead was very rude and dismissive, he foud every excuse why they could not price match. When I said I would bring the part back under there 14 day satisfaction program he said they would impose a 15% re-stock fee. Stay away, take your business elsewhere. Worth reporting to the BBB.

I've spent several hundred dollars over the past few years at this store, simply because of its convenient location and the fact a competitor in the area moved locations.

Employees seem to run the gambit, from very helpful to (most recently) rude and dismissive. I asked an employee whether the store carried compressed air or if he had any advice concerning removing a clog in the plumbing of the pool. I happen to know compressed air works, because I've used it (in a can form) before, with success. It did not work this time, and thus my question. The response was something to the effect that "yeah, my advice is to call our service department, and if you try to do this yourself you could well do $12K in damage."

I called a pool maintenance man, who came to my house on a Sunday, charged a few dollars, and -- guess what -- he used compressed air to blow out the clog in about 2 minutes. No attitude, either.

On an occasion a couple years ago I purchased some DE filters. They were yellowed, obviously very, very old, and they lasted only a few months.

I'm a bit lazy, so I will still go to the store on occasion.

I called their service department to replace my aging filter tank and plumbing connections. A service person was scheduled to arrive at my house between 8:00AM and 12:00. To his credit he showed up at 9:00AM. Impressive! This is the only good part of my review... After a brief chat with my service dude we agreed that he would call me after he estimated the cost of repairs. Fair enough. I called him at 3:00PM that afternoon and it sounded like he was in a bar at the beach (what is it with these pool service people?). My hopes of having this relatively simple repair finished today vanished. He quoted me $800 for the filter tank plus some parts and labor would cost me around $1400. I already knew the filter price was a ripoff but that was to be expected. The whole point of calling the service department was that I didn't have time to do this myself so I was willing to pay the premium.

Now it gets weird. The service guy then actually suggested I go to Leslie's pool supply myself to get a better deal on the filter. This made absolutely no sense to me but I went over there anyway...I thought I was paying him to do all this but now I find myself driving to the store? I drive to the store and guess what? The price is $800. I tell the salesman my situation and he doesn't even budge on the price. Says their service department is a different entity and can't vouch for anything the repair people tell me. I say ok, well I know you match internet prices and I saw it on YOUR OWN SITE the same filter for $600. He says, "I need proof of this offer" so I ask him to get on his computer and look it up. He says, "no, I need the actual print out and I don't have access to the internet". At that point I just walked out of the store. I felt stupid for even calling the service department for this simple repair. All I wanted to do was get this off my plate but the people I tried to hire failed miserably.

I ended up doing the repair myself and buying the filter AND backwash valve from swimpquip pool supply on mission gorge for $600. They were very helpful as always. I finished the job in a few hours over the weekend. Just remember Leslie's is a brand name shared between a few different companies, so they don't care about the service level of the different entities. Go somewhere else and only use them as a last resort.

Leslie's has been around for years in San Diego and still going strong. Although they may not necessarily be the best company out there for your pool needs, they are definitely knowledgeable.

The company is a tad expenisve on products however they always have what you are looking for. If I look over town and can't find what I need, stopping at Leslie's always fills the void.

The service people at the store saved me hundreds of dollars by suggesting my pool equipment be repaired rather than replaced. Instead of $300, I paid $35! They were great!
