I go here at least once a week. The fish is fresh and well prepared, and if you are able to relax and laugh about the service, they are more than happy to give you a few on the house! Great staff- the head sushi chef will drink Sake with you if you compliment well.

Spicy Tuna Salad is a must, and the Sashimi Jalape?o Yellowtail is amazing! My friends love the pepper Tuna, but I'd say it is a tad on the oily side for sashimi.

Sit at the bar, make conversation, and this hole-in-the wall sushi bar will appeal to the casual diner, or even the hip crowd heading out for a night on the town!

Pros: Amazing food, great variety of dishes

Cons: slow service, forgetful servers

I went to Kaido for lunch today, and was appalled by the lack of service I had. The restaurant was very busy, but the wait staff was less than attentive. I was seated at a table that was lacking a chair, so my friend had to find one himself. After that, it took several minutes before we received a menu. About 5 minutes or so later, we ordered, only to find out they were out of what I had ordered. Not a problem, I ordered something else.

My miso soup appeared at the same time as my entree, and then the california roll that came with my food was forgotten and appeared about 10 minutes after my entree. We had to ask about my friend's food, after asking a different table to flag down our waiter because we couldn't seem to get his attention. He apologized, but 15 minutes later the friend's entree still had not arrived. The waiter apologized again, and took the entree off the bill but left the salad. The entree and salad together were a lunch special.

Patrons at tables around us were also having trouble getting the waiter, or getting their food, or even ordering!

I've never been tempted to walk out of a restaurant before in my life. I will not be going back. Even in a busy establishment, there is no excuse for not checking up on your tables or at least refilling their water glasses!

Pros: Prices are good, food tastes good.

Cons: Service was awful and inattentive.

I just got back from eating lunch at this establishment. It was the worst dining experience I have ever had. The place was busy and we were seated at the back of the restaurant. Our waiter never checked on us, didn't refill our water, and was inattentive in general. After about 30 or 40 minutes of ordering my meal (large sushi platter), I still had not received my main meal (sushi). After some effort, we were able to wave down our waiter, who then said that there had been a mixup. After waiting an additional 15 minutes, I still did not have my order and proceeded to cancel my order. It was another 15 minutes after that until we got our check. This is the first time I had been tempted to walk out without paying - the service was really that bad. During my wait for food I also witnessed several other customers, waiting for their food and getting impatient. I asked one lady standing near the cashier if she worked there and she told me "no, I don't work here but I should because they need it." Upon finally getting our check, our waiter apologized making the excuse that they were shorthanded. I realize that being shorthanded can lead to an increased wait time, but the service we received (or lack of service) is inexcusable for a restaurant. If you only have an hour for lunch, this place is not for you. They may have good food, they may not, but I will never find out. I need to go find something to eat now after not being served at Kaido. BTW, I am not usually so harsh on a restaurant - there are some very good sushi restaurants in the area: En Sushi and Sushi Masu are excellent, Sushi Roku is decent as well.
