Ironstone is truly a gem of the Sierra Foothills. Gorgeous winery, interesting tour, great event center, interesting museum (come on, that is a big hunk of gold). The only problem is the wines just do not do it for me. I take guests there just to check it out, but it always is the same. I never leave with any wine. Too bad. I think they really have to focus on wine quality in the near future. Overall good experience, but the main reason you go there is for the wine, and it does nothold up.

My wife and I saw Jason Mraz there, we were impressed by the overall experience. Classy, clean place with a helpfull staff. No problems with obnoxious concert goers. plenty of food, drinks and restroom facilities.
Be prepared for a long road trip, and make overnight arrangement a couple of weeks early.

This is a great winery. I've used it for classes and am very pleased with the service there. They always provide us with a very nice room, with tables and chairs and the AV equipment that meets our needs. The food they make us is always really good. I have also attended weddings and other events here. They know how to make your event very beautiful and special.

Living nearby, I visit Ironstone frequently. I enjoy looking at the seasonal flowers. Well groomed lawns.

Their tours are very informative.
Their wines under all their lables are wonderful.

However for a better price on their wines, drive down to the local food markets for savings.

I love seeing their Christmas tree auction.

Their Family Christmas event if fun. Their meal for this event was very disappointing. Waiting in a large line for dry bread and a salad with nothing but lettuce. Nothing else for food. $35 a ticket, and any drinks cost extra. Very disappointing.

Their large gold nugget is something to view, however the staff in jewelry store section next to the nugget may turn their nose up at you if you are not wearing the right clothing. I get treated differently each time I enter . Not good.

IF you want a winery with great food in the foothills I would go to Villa Toscano. Their wine is not to my taste, however their food and eating area is.

This has got to be one of the most beautiful wineries I have ever visited. The grounds are extensive and hold weddings, parties and concerts there. If you want to experience true beauty, come in the fall. The property is covered with Japanese maple trees and the colors are simply amazing.

My husband has been bringing me here for several years now. We absolutly love the drive to the winery and in spring when all the daffoils and tulips are in bloom the senery is amazing. The have a FREE tasting room where you can taste up to 5 wines. And bottles range in cost from $6- $25 which is a bargin for California wines. A great deli is an ideal way to end a relaxing experience wine tasting.

In the summer months be sure to check the schedule for their summer concerts under the stars.

PROS: free tasting room, reasonable prices, gorgous location
CONS: a bit of a drive from Sacramento and the Bay Area
