Other than the butcher department and local ownership, I'm not sure what the appeal of this grocery. Very limited deli and prepared meals to serve the fairly senior local community, no bakery, small produce and staples selection.

Woodlands Market, another local grocery, is scheduled to take over the retail space soon. If it is anything like their other location in Kentfield, it should be an incredible improvement.

Incredible old style butcher and seafood shop.

Friendly and accessible.

Cons: not a problem

The Boardwalk Market has just kept on going as the more spacious grocery across the street has turned from an old Safeway into a new Safeway, then a Bon Apetit, then a Bell Market. At the Boardwalk, the prices are a bit high and the selection isn't huge, but they always have high-quality goods. The butcher shop is terrific -- and home for a long while to Merle Ellis (the TV butcher). Parking is tough on weekend, when the tourist influx hits.
