I took my dog to see Dr. Howard on an emergency basis after he was hit by a car. Dr. Howard was extremely rough and seemingly uncaring as he handled my dog (a dog that I look at as a member of my family) and he made it clear that he did not think there was much that could be done unless I was willing to pay upwards of 8 to 10 thousand dollars. He strapped my dog into restraints and put him alone in a cage and said he may go back to check on him if he "woke up later." He told me that the dog would live or die based on his "will to live" and attempted to try to escort me out of the building. When I objected and felt uncomfortable with leaving the dog in the state he was in Dr. Howard became visibly angry and told me "you have to take him now." He told me at least three times he thought I should just put the dog down. I was given an initial estimate of four hundred dollars for emergency services but received a nearly eight hundred dollar bill despite the fact that the dog did not receive over night care and was given little more than fluids and antibiotics. I took my dog home expecting him to die during the night. I was lucky enough to take him to another local vets office where they actually shot x-rays and took care of my best friend. He received all the attention he needed and went through the surgeries required and did wonderfully. Maybe Dr. Howard had a bad night but I left with the impression that I would never take another animal anywhere near his makeshift hospital and haphazard care.

At age 12-1/2, my black Lab Retriever Onyx had a "stroke" (attack of vestibular syndrome--google it) while I was hiking at the Salton Sea in December 2009. He was recommended to me by the staff at the Sony Bono Wildlife Refuge, and I took her there. I'm still not sure how I got her back to the car and into the car by myself.

Dr. Howard's staff was very compassionate and transported her into the facility, and he diagnosed her immediately. He treated her there for 3 days. She had improved tremendously by the second day and was walking nearly normally by the 3rd day. And his patented Perimet kept her healthy for over a year more.

IDr. Howard helped her with some last-ditch medication when she was nearly 14, but she stopped taking all meds, telling me she was ready to say goodbye, shortly thereafter.

I don't live nearby but I always stopped in to say hello with Onxy, and lately with my new dog Lucky, whenever I'm in the area. They are fantastic!

We have had dogs for forty plus years, all types, in many states, and many more communities. Have seen all sorts of vets and clinics!

Dr. Howard is a gem (like a Hope Diamond in the desert) His experience is lengthy, he knows all domestic animals very very well. Hated to leave him upon moving away. You cannot do much better!!

I Love Dr Howard! He is friendly, caring, intelligent and will talk to the owners. Some vets don't bother talking to the pet owners. I think his office is friendly and provides a caring environement. Most of all the dogs are very comfortable with him and are never scared going there!

The staff is very friendly and prices are reasonable considering the next vet is miles away. Dr. Howard has also been very generous in the past helping various 4H clubs.

One of the very few Animal clinics in the area. They deal with all kinds of animals including live stock. They have somewhat good prices considering the lack of good services in the Imperial area. They also are in the boarding and supplies business if your horse or pet cow is looking for a home. They have a very keen understanding of farm related livestock.
