Vous Hair Salon

When moving from one city to another, one of the most difficult "to-do's" is finding that new person to do your do. So I feel so lucky to have found Yanee and Vous so soon after coming back to LA.

As it turns out, Vous is the rarest of finds. In a crowded field of West Hollywood/Hollywood area salons, they're doing quality work, at competitive prices, with the MOST flexible hours anywhere, staffed by sincerely warm and caring stylists; this combo really sets this modest spot apart from the pack. From the basic cut (for me) to the latest colors and trends, Vous is pretty much one-stop shopping.

And the outrageously convenient 7-day scheduling (including walk-ins)? Have no fear. Over the years I'd been burned at some places with same-day appointments--the less-than-stellar newbie of course was the only one with an opening. Not so at Vous! Yanee only works with good people who, like her, care about what they do. Open slots are just a perk of being open 7 days a week (nearly all day long); it allows you to get in whenever you need to.

Times are tough, but you still gotta look good. Vous will help you look your best while treating you like family--from the very first visit. Go.

I've been going to Yanee for a couple years now and she's the best! My haircuts are always great, and if she has time to give you one of her famous scalp massages, you'll want to go get your hair cut ever day! And the hours are great for those of us who work late...or sleep late -- where else can you get a haircut at 8:00 at night? And last, but not least, Yanee's lotsa fun to talk to.

My husband and I have both gone to Yahnee for years (literally) for all of our hairstyling needs. Not only can she give you EXACTLY the cut you want, but she can add the best highlights, lowlights, and base color you could ever imagine. Add to that the fact that her prices are reasonable and the salon is funky, punky, and friendly. If you are sick to death of insane prices and snotty attitude in L.A. area salons, this is THE place for you. Bring in a photo of what you want, and you'll get it, with none of the resentment of some stylists. (That "I know better than you do" routine.) Give Vous a try, you'll be happy you did.

Pros: Expert cuts & colors, in a refreshingly friendly atmosphere. Good prices, open every day.

Cons: A bit hard to find parking, but well worth the effort.

I've been going to Jaz for haircuts for about a year. Jaz knows hair and she does a great job! She even cut and styled my mom's hair when she was in town visiting. My mom is about 50 and I was worried that Jaz might be too hip for my mom's conservative liking. Jaz did a wonderful job. My dad, who hardly ever gives compliments, even said the haircut was great! Jaz is a rare find. She gives me the best haircuts ever. Super creative and lovely person all around. I've recommended her to many of my friends and even my boss who will be going in for her first haircut with Jaz within the next week or so. Jaz will rock your hair! She deserves an assistant.

Amazing place! I came here after having been in LA for four years and never finding the right salon. After a disastrous experience at Sigal Giavani in Westwood, I came to Vous and they were able to both fix and blend the poor color job I had received, as well as begin the restoration of my hair to its natural texture. Angel was INCREDIBLE (she's also done my eyebrows) and makes me feel comfortable, confident in what she is doing, and I would trust her with any new style I wanted! She is the only stylist I will be seeing from now on!

I just got my hair cut at Vous salon last week, and loved it as usual. I had gone there once before several months ago and I didn't think other salons compared! Jaz was my stylist this time around and she's awesome and will totally take care of you. =) Definitely recommended

i started going to Jaz since the fall and she is a delight. She is a saucy Chilean rock star and makes you look like a model. I don't have to explain what i want because she gets it. She's a perfectionist but doesn't take a million years.
i also really like the salon. the people are nice and the music choice is always great (alternative, rock, type stuff) the hair wash stations are more comfortable than other places I've been.

I have been going to Yanee for over 5 years and I have to say I am a hair cut phobic person. I got traumatized at a young age and won't let pretty much anyone cut my hair and am EXTREMELY particular. Yanee has given me astounding color over and over and cut my hair short and fashionable. I have had jobs from the ultra conservative to the ultra hip and she has always matched my style and what I need. Also she listens to what I want done very carefully so whom ever left that bad review and called her Yumi needs to quit. I don't go to someone for 5-6 years if they are bad and fry my hair, which is why I stick with Vous Hair. I have also allowed everyone there to work on my hair at one point or another and they have really helped me get over my stylist-phobia.That is why Yanee and Vous have become a great hairdressers and friends.

I got my hair cut at Vous a couple of weeks ago by JAZ and she is just amazing!!!!! Before she was even finished cutting my hair, another customer was already insisting on getting a similar cut herself. A copycat before she's even done with me? That is a true testament to her talent. I will definitely go back to her when I need another cut!

Jaz can do anything!!! She rocks at all my hair cuts, colors, and even rocked the wig I brought in for halloween!!!! I love VOUS, I've been living in LA for 3 years and hadn't found a place and stylist that I liked, until I walked into Vous. Thank goodness my search is over!!!

Vous is a nice salon to visit. Good service. Good quality work. Beautiful decor. I?ve been coming to Vous for more than 2 years. Jaz has a very high standard of hair styling. She will make sure that I?m satisfied with the results. She always has great suggestions and creative ideas. She is very up to date with latest techniques and hair trends. I've been coming to Vous Hair Salon for more than 15 years. I wouldn't go to any other hair salon in Los Angeles. The only time I've had my hair cut by someone other than Yanee, is when I'm in Paris. I had previously used a salon in Beverly Hills, but at Vous I've received more individual attention. I'm an architectural designer who has always told a hair dresser how to cut my hair and Yanee has always succeeded in cutting my hair exactly the way I wished. That is saying alot because my hair is extremely fine and difficult to cut so that it appears to have body. The few times I've needed a little adjustment, she has always had me come back without charge to make it come out perfectly. Yanee had always bent over backwards to accommodate my desire for perfection. She has invariably been patient with my perfectionism. That is why I've been coming to Vous Hair Salon for fifteen years. The salon has a unique design. I particularly like the Chinese red walls and mirrors framed in golden frames and crystal chandeliers. I would never hesitate to recommend Yanee and Vous Hair Salon to anyone.

The WORST! I went in for a wash and blow-dry. The stylist, Yumi, was awful. Her brush tore at my scalp over and over to the point where I was pretty uncomfortable.I finally had to point out that my hair was dry on top and she could leave that area alone. I had asked her to curl the bottom and she couldnt manage it. They told me on the phone it was $40 bucks. And then she told me it was $45 when she was done. When I pointed out the discrepancy, she said it was cause it had taken so long. But who's fault is that? She would stop gouging me with that brush.(btw-I only have shoulder length hair).My scalp is still in pain. I get my hair blown out once a week and I have NEVER had anyone do such a bad job!!

I was recommended to go to Vous Hair salon by a friend of mine. I was pleased with the whole experience. The Hair dressers/stylists were very attentive and aimed to please. Which made it a comfortable experience.
They give an awesome scalp and head massage with your shampoo which was AWESOME!!!! and when you tell them what you are going for they really try and give you what you want. I went with a girlfriend of mine and she was also highly pleased with her cut/color. The ambiance is kick back. The decor is hip. People coming in/out are trendy. There were a equal amount of girl/guys coming in which was cool. The staff is super friendly and the owner is also a Hair dresser who made sure I was comfortable at all times. If your thirsty they have soda/water on deck for you :) The place was clean and pleasant. They got a good radio station playin', NO ELEVATOR MUSIC!!! Yes I would go again. In fact, Im due for my roots soon. Vous here I come!!!!

When I first moved to Los Angeles, I searched City Search for a great, relatively inexpensive salon, given my curly hair and it's intricate coloring. I found Vous and saw a total of two different sylists. Over the course of my near-year of going to Vous every 6 weeks for color, my hair was the most damaged it's ever been in my life. The haircuts I received at Vous were fine--it was the color that RUINED my hair. In fact, my hair was so badly bleached that when I asked the stylist to give me a darker shade, she turned my hair green. As a natural brunette, my hair should've never turned green. When she offered to fix it, I of course said yes, and she CHARGED me for her mistake. Afterwards, I went to a new salon, where my new stylist could not believe how badly damaged my hair was--I even lost most of my curl! My hair was so badly damaged that at first it wouldn't take color! After many protein treatments and many color corrections later, I now Greatly recommend trying Warren Tricomi.

Pros: I guess they're okay at trimming hair

I highly recommend Tina at Vous Hair Salon. She is great. You tell her what it is that you want and she makes it happen. You give her an idea of what you want and she brings it to life. She is great with hair coloring, highlighting, hair extensions and up-dos. How do I know this? Because I have been her client for many years and I have seen some of her best work. She is truly good at what she does. So if anyone out there is looking for a good experience at the hair salon I suggest going to see Tina at Vous Hair Salon.

When I first moved to LA a friend referred me to Vous and I've never gone anywhere else. I've also referred friends, co-workers and my boyfriend. In fact his son recently got his hair cut at Vous too. Making us happy is one thing, but a 12 year old? That's a real feat! They do everything; men's, women's, kids, coloring, straightening...and they do it well - proven by our happiness and all of the compliments we get from friends and total strangers alike.

I love the fact that Vous is open so late. I like to be able to go get my hair done after work and it's cool to be able to walk in at 8pm. All the hair styalists do great cuts and color. It's a happening salon.

Vous is a salon with a highly skilled stylists. Yanee is fabulous with hair color, and today I got an amazing cut! Vous is open evenings and weekends. The atmosphere is fun and supportive. People are always laughing and talking. The staff really wants to know what YOU want & they try their best to provide it. My favorite part outside of looking wonderful when I leave is getting amazing head massages as part of having my hair washed. Reasonable prices and great service. A+++

Dina/Yanee (the owner of Vous) has cut my hair for years and is the best stylist I know of. The quality of service is what you would expect for the most expensive salons, and yet her prices are really reasonable.

All of her stylists are do great work as well.

I could not recommend Vous more strongly.

Hi! I strongly recommend James, at Vous Hair Salon, for Hair Extensions. I wanted to add length and volume to my life-less hair. James listened carefully to all my ideas, and even suggested some really cool new trends! He was very informative and seemed to really care about helping me achieve my new look.

James showed me before and after shots of his hair extension clientele, so I knew that I could definitely trust him. James has done hair extensions for top models, and his work is beautiful. Also, the cost was the most affordable for all the up-scale salons I priced.

I speak in front of large groups for a living, and travel to teach on behalf of companies ? so my hair has to look good. And it does! At least once a month, some woman comments on the great flow of my hair and asks where I got it done. I'm always proud to share my secret: Gary, at at Vous Hair Salon on Melrose.

Every time I've sent a friend to Gary that friend has thanked me and raved about how great he is.

While in the shop I hear conversations ? stylists asking customers what they'd like, what they for work and fun... figuring out what type of style would fit their lives. The more times you come back, the better Gary, or any of the crew, gets to know your hair and makes it more you.

As I said, Gary is "my guy," but because of where I sit, I see Angel's work a lot too, and see that she does a great job too. While Gary's mixed my color I've picked up some tips from Angel too.

Funny thing: someone else here commented on the great scalp and neck massage. I used to think that was just Gary being extra nice to me, but now I know it's a common treat. And, oh boy, does it feel great! Sometimes I wish my hair was shaggy just to come get that massage. :)

I love the feeling there. It's like coming home. Maybe that's because Gary has been doing my hair for over a dozen years, but I get the feeling many other customers feel the same.

In all my years being at Vous, I have never seen anyone not walk in and smile and walk out with a smile, whether they have just had their hair done or have walked in off the street just to inquire. It's that kind of friendly, welcoming place. Easy-going, yet professional. Respectful of you as a customer and person.

I've been going there for ~12+ years and the service here has been excellent. The staff is friendly and all well trained. Scheduling is very flexible and they make time for you when you can make it. The price is well justified for the quality of the cuts they give. All pay attention to great detail. Go here if you want the look that's hard to get or the hottest trends. I highly recommend this place.

I wanted to cut my hair really short and decided to go to Vous because of its flawless reputation. And they certainly lived up to it! Dita was my stylist and she did a great job! She listened to what I wanted and it came out perfectly. I will definetely return!

I love this place!!! Its very hip with a vintage rock & roll style. I can shop til I drop and then chill at the parlor. Jaz is my stylist. Shes really cool, fun and always does a terrific job. I feel very comfortable being in there. I truly recommend it to all my friends and everyone.

I love this place. The owner Dina (aka Yanee) gives an amazing haircut, and also a good 5 or ten minute scalp massage as she washes your hair. A real find! I've been a repeat customer for five years. Judging from the happy vibe in the whole place, the other people there also do good work.

I'm a low maintenance guy who seeks the finer things in life, haircuts are a frequency so I want it to be perfect without having to worry. Dina takes care of me, the Melrose location is perfect for killing a few minutes before my haircut, and most of the time I just call a few hours in advance. If you want something nicer than the local chop shop but without a hefty price tag this is the place.

I discovered Vous Hair Salon on CITYSEARCH.COM and decided to give them a try.
Now, Vous Hair Salon on Melrose Blvd is the ONLY place I get my hair done.
I've gotten my hair done at numerous places around Los Angeles
but NONE of them beat this place.

I'm going back tomorrow for a cut. =)

I recommend James.
I always get my hair done by him.
He knows what he's doing.

All staff members were exceptionally friendly and professional. The solon was a totally hapapening place. All the hairsylists were really diverse. I could be from any ethnic back ground and would have felt comfortable. When I explained what I wanted, they listened patiently and gave me the hair cut I wanted. I had a picture with me and the style came out just like the picture. I was so happy. I'v already told three friends about it. I hate to go on but I was just so pleased that I just can't help wanting to let everyone know. I give the Vous hair on Melrose a very high rating.
