Positive Experience

by Paola C.

It is true that Dr Han's staff is unprofessional and although the doctor comes off a little guarded it doesn't take away from her being an efficient doctor. Doctor Han had to perform a cerclage on me 3 years ago when my cervix started to dilate in my 3rd month of pregnancy. A cerclage is a very risky procedure where my bag could have burst during the procedure. I am blessed with a healthy son and I thank God for Dr Han's steady hand that made my pregnancy a successful one. I hope she takes the steps necessary to improve the conduct of her staff so that they could represent her in a better light.

Billed me and I was not a patient.

by Julie Ann C.

After reading all this, I just wanted to chime in. I just got a bill from Dr. Han's office for my son's circumcision. This was really amazing to me, since I have never met Dr. Han OR any of the doctors in her office, and my son is NOT circumcised. I have no idea how they even got my information. I've never seen them. But after reading all these horrible reviews, I'm going to call my HMO and report them. I mean, it's one thing to get mistreated if you choose to go to this doctor, but she's sending me a mistaken bill and I've never laid eyes on her. When I called, the billing department woman explained that she saw many bills that didn't go out in her computer, so she started sending them. She said that even though Dr. Han's name was on the bill, Dr. Cashie had performed the operation. So I had to repeat, "There was no operation. My son is not circumcised, and I've never even heard of Dr. Cashie." WTF?

Why is this person practicing medicine!!

by J R.

I saw Dr. Han three years ago and then couldn't afford to go again until this year. In our meeting she had to do a biopsy and said if something was not right, she would call me, otherwise...So three years later, when finances were better, and not having a good feeling about Dr. Han, I decided to switch doctors and called to have my records transferred to the new doctor. Dr. Han's office said they couldn't release the records because they HADN'T GOTTEN MY TEST RESULTS BACK YET!!! Remember this is three years later!! In them finally obtaining my records and test results I had them transferred to the new doctor and in my appointment with her, found out that the symptoms I had (that Dr. Han said were just normal with menopause) were so severe now that I would have to go extensive treatment to right this wrong. This new doctor was wonderful and I'm feeling better, but if you have had this kind of experience with Dr. Han as well, PLEASE report her, as I did, to The Medical Board of California, Dept. of Consumer Affairs.

Worst Staff EVER!!!!!!!!!

by Marie M.

The staff ignores you when you walk in! The visit was so brief I asked a lot of questions, out of about 12 questions, 1 was answered! I don't feel like the physical was even thorough at all! She did everything without telling me what she was doing! I will never go back to her! I will definitely find another doctor! Did I even mention how rude the staff was?!?!?! The only nice person there was the girl who "prepped" me. I don't know her name, long straight black hair, she was pretty much the only friendly one!

My first Visit with Dr. Han

by Gaby P.

I had a horrible experience when I went to this office. I wanted to cry as well. I had had a miscarriage and the receptionist asked me why I was there. Mind you there are many pregnant woman, and I whispered that I was there for a follow-up due to a miscarriage. The receptionist loudly said "You had a miscarriage and I was fully emotional and embarrassed I said "yes." Besides being abrupt with me on other issues this was the one that made me change my OB/GYNECOLOGIST. Also, I waited to see my doctor for the first time 45mins. or more with an appointment and she didn't even see me for 10 minutes. This wasn't very good service.

Han Samantha H Md is not worthy of being called "Doctor".

by Donna G.

I had an unforgettably horrible experience with Dr. Han. Her office staff made me cry, they were so rude. I waited over two hours to see her both times I was there, which was extremely stressful as the waiting room was over capacity and some of the time was spent waiting lined up down the hall. When I did see her, she was dismissive, rude, glib and never once met my eyes. I was sure I was pregnant or something was wrong hormonally - she blew me off after a negative test. In the end, I apparently had had a fetal demise that she never told me about, even after seeing the ultrasound results! She put the info in my file, but never said a word to be about it and I didn't learn I'd had a missed miscarriage until my new doctor went through the records Dr. Han's had transferred over and she read it aloud, thinking I already knew. I just about fainted.

How would you like hearing you'd been pregnant after all, that you weren't crazy the way they made you feel, and that the baby had died but no one told you? If you want to feel that way, go see Dr. Han and her brilliant staff.

Don't go here! Couldn't find my records when I went in for my annual!

by kimberly m.

I went in for a pap smear, Dr. Han was out on delivery, so I saw the blonde. She was so nice, but couldn't find my records. She had to wing it. They were moving, so everything was a bit of a mess, she said. So... Now I am having all kinds of problems with getting my BC prescription filled. It's as if I was never there. She didn't give me a new prescription, which I didn't think too much about. I thought they wold just apply it with a call in from the pharmacy. Nope. Been having problems for months and this has gotten me really out of whack on my cycle.. not being able to get my prescription filled without a call in to their office. I think I am going to have to go in somewhere else and get another pap smear, even though it hasn't been a year. I don't want to go back there. They are a big mess. Also... even though Dr. Han is my OBGYN.. I think I have only seen her once in 4 years. She is never there.

Update: I tried to call and straighten this out with the office, but keep getting blown off and asked to call back. Really unhelpful. I keep getting voice recordings now. This forced me to call my insurance to find out the last time they were billed for a visit. It was long enough for me to know that the office has no record of me being in. I am just switching and going to my new found primary doctor who can do annuals. I don't even want to deal with these people.

Lacks bedside manner

by Lindsay P.

I went for my annual gynecological exam with Dr. Han for the first time as I am new to the area. I waited for 45 minutes in the exam room for Dr. Han. When she finally came in the room she rushed through a very cursory exam in less than 5 minutes. She didn't ask me if I had any questions and I hardly had a chance to get a word in edgewise because she rushed out of the exam room so quickly. There were hoards of people waiting to see her in the waiting room and it really does feel like they rush patients in and out as quickly as they possibly can. This was the most impersonal and uncaring doctor visit I have experienced. I was left with several unanswered questions.

I'm switching

by Sheila S.

I'm not pregnant but I do go for my annual and I've been too lazy to switch but am going to now...every time I go there it is not a pleasant experience. There is a very long wait. I've noticed that a couple of the chairs in the wait room have disgusting pee stains on them, the disposable needle cans are sitting in the hallway. Most disturbing: I used the bathroom once to find a tray in there of about 12 urine samples - just sitting there unattended in a public bathroom! My doctor is Samantha Han and I don't think I've seen her once. It's always a different nurse practitioner which is fine (especially from reading the reviews) but now I think I'd prefer to always have someone consistently and who knows me. The office honestly just seems like they're overbooked. It's quantity for them, not quality.

Total Rip-off!!!

by Alice A.

Dr. Han and office staff are utterly unprofessional. During my first and only visit, she seemed uncaring and refused to order any diagnostic tests other than pap smear. I work in health care and know what I'm talking about. My primary care doctor was likewise frustrated and felt that she just "doesn't care" and strongly suggested that I should switch to another OB right away. I did just that and found an excellent OB-GYN who requested a copy of my pap smear. It took multiple number of calls to get the result. And they charged me $35 dollars for one piece of paper!!! It's a big rip-off, don't you think? Interestingly, they won't accept any forms of payment other than CASH and they won't mail or fax it to me. I had to take time off work and drive to their office to pick it up personally. They never told me until I got there that I had the option of requesting to fax it directly to my doctor at no cost. When I did request that, Tanya said it is too late. (????)There is just no excuse to this office's incompetence especially when people's health and lives are at stake.

Find another doctor

by Carla W.

I saw Dr Han in August 08 and it will be the last time. This visit she was a little more personable than previous times but I still came away with questions unanswered and feeling like the long wait in the crowded waiting area was not worth the trouble. I needed to know my test results and I left 8 messages in a week period with her staff indicating at least 3 times the urgency of my request. Luckily I had the test result sent to my primary care physician who was able to go over the results. A month after I had first requested my results I suddenly received at 730pm one evening a call from Dr Han telling me that she was returning my call! I told her that my primary care had helped me and I hung up.

Look Elsewhere

by Jame N.

My HMO dictated that I see Dr. Han after her partner, Dr. Alviar left. It's been horrendous. That office staff is completely incompetant, barely understands English, is rude and unhelpful. Loads of pregnant ladies are always sitting on the floor in the hallway, sometimes literally sitting on the toxic waste drop off box on the floor. Ridiculous. When you finally do see Dr. Han, she's brief, unaffected, and sterile. She seems to knwo what she's talking about, but if you need any kind of smile or acknowlegement of any kind from your doctor, this is the wrong one. Preganancy and gynecology are emotional times. The last thing you want is for doctors visits to go like they do at Dr. Han's office. Look elsewhere.

Da. Cashie is Simply Marvelous

by linda l.

Hello all, as a woman, you always want a doctor who cares about you, your family, and your health and well-being. Dr. Cashie treated me like royalty from the beginning to end. From the moment I walked in her office we both made a decision together about my condition and she supported my decision completely. I trusted her competence, knowledge and experience. She was warm, informative, and always gave me my own individual time in her office. I even brought my boyfriend in the office with me thu the entire process and she talked to us both, not just me. She made him feel welcomed. When it came to surgery, the hospital had my insurance mixed up, the approval and they held me up for hours getting verification for the surgery, but Dr. Cashie stayed patiently and waited, although she was upset, she explained, I was important and that the clerks in her office also did not do the paperwork properly so she understood and she was going to make it happen as soon as possible. And that she did. When paperwork was done, and I could be reeled in to start the operation, she helped me and she was there waiting, talked to my boyfriend, told him how long she would take, gave him my belongings, and told him she would take good care of me. And then again, that she did. As I was going under, her presence, made me feel safe. When I woke up in my room, my boyfriend next to me, told me, she came and got him when the surgery was over, and had him help transport me with the orderlys to my room. Ladies, it dont get no better than that. Even the visits to the hospital, she stayed on the nurses to make sure they did what they were supposed to. The only thing she didnt like is that she wished I was at the Hospital closer to her instead of Glendale Adventist, she said I would have gotten better treatment, and she could of visited me more often. Just when I thought she was already doing too much. Lastly, to remove my staples and do check ups, again unbelievable service. She got me thru a mental middle age crisis and brought me back to health. So Ladies if you are with a doctor as I see mentioned in some of these comments, and they dont treat you the way you should be treated, use your brain, and move on. You are spending good money for healthcare, why go to a doctor that treats you like most men dolol. If the doctor has no respect for you, your body, your expenses, and just simply is cold, mean, and too busy to understand you and your life and the treatment you need, than FIRE HER ASS!. If you allow it, than you deserve it!
To Dr. Dawn A. Cashie, you are the best! And I will soon be having my daughter be your patient. Good Luck to All and remember, you have earned the right as a woman to have a good doctor. I only had to experience Dr. Han, once when Dr. Cashie was unavailable and that 5 minutes of a checkup was enough for me, my dad always said, if you cant say something nice..things my lips are sealed.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH DR. HAN

by marie d.

I have only had one visit with Dr. Han so far. The wait was very long and there is very little waiting room space for all the patients. So it is not uncommon to see pregnant women sitting in the hallway waiting to be called.

The visit with Dr. Han herself was ok. She seems to have a decent bedside manner, although she seemed too busy to spend more than 5 minutes with me. The staff aren't warm and friendly, but that seems to be the result of being so overbooked with patients.

I reached my point of frustration after I had my first trimester combined screening. The results showed some reason for concern. The other doctor that did the screening was very patient and thorough in explaining the results with me over the phone. He then recommended that I speak with Dr. Han about the results.

Unfortunately I missed Dr. Han's phone call. I tried to reach her for a week and left numerous messages with the receptionist. Dr. Han NEVER called back. I ended up speaking with one of her colleagues. The information relayed by her colleague was brief and would only have taken Dr. Han 5 minutes to speak with me over the phone. Completely frustrating! I am switching doctors!!

Dr Cashie is amazing!

by Jennifer I.

I delivered my first born back in March, and I couldn't say enough good things about Dr. Dawn Cashie. I actually missed her after my son was born because I didn't see her for six weeks!

I don't have any direct experience with Dr. Han, but Dr. Korostoff was also very helpful to me. She helped with several things that I popped into the office without an appointment for. They generally want to make you feel comfortable and taken care of at this practice. I can't believe all the negative things that are written on this site.

They have a ton of patients, and the waiting room is so tiny. Luckily, they are moving to a nice, new, BIGGER office this fall. Can't wait to see the improvements!

Dr. Korostoff

by Lisa A.

I am an over-40 pregnant woman who has felt nothing but comfortable with Dr. Korostoff and only hope she is with me in the delivery room when the time comes. I don't know about Dr. Han other than she smiled at my daughter and I when I was getting my blood pressure done. It's such a shame the bad response but hopefully Dr. Han will read these and make changes to her office. I really wanted; however, to state my total satisfaction with Dr. K. She is a wonderful, energetic and positive doctor. Lisa.

Bad choice!

by Anonymous

Dr. Han's office is terrible, and the only reason she was ever my doctor was because she was assigned to me in the E.R. When I was a teenager I got an ovarian cyst, and instead of taking it out right away, she waited to see if it would go away on its own. Two days of hospitalization later, the cyst doubled in size and tore my ovary, causing it to go gangrene and put toxins into my body. She performed emergency surgery and removed it, but I couldn't walk for a month, and now I have a giant scar and am on medication for the rest of my life. I had cyst on my other ovary later, and went to a different doctor who took it out right away, without scars or hospitalization. I will always wonder if Dr. Han did the right thing by waiting to treat me.

100% Positive Experience

by Anonymous

I do not have experience with Dr. Han, but Dr. Korostoff is by far the best OBGYN I have ever had. She spent more time with me and gave my concerns more attention than any doctor I've ever seen. She is so easy to talk to and really gave me her undivided attention. Someone said in a review that she was inattentive. I'm wondering if we're talking about the same Dr. Korostoff. When it came time for my labor, she was so calm and confident. She really managed that delivery room and everyone in it with ease. She stiched me up aftewards and took her time because she wanted to get everything "just perfect." She sure did. I healed so quickly and had no problems like I did healing from my first episiotomy (which was horrible). All in all, she was just wonderful. I recommend her to all my friends. The office can be busy, but if you make your appointment right when they return from lunch, you're usually in and out. I can't fault an office for being busy. I'd rather have an office squeeze me in than turn me away. Also, they are moving to brand new offices which I'm sure will be bigger and state-of-the-art. I've been through plenty of bad gynecologists, but Dr. Korostoff is truly a gem.

STAY AWAY...YOU'VE BEEN WARNED

by Anonymous

Especially if you are over 40 or high risk pregnancy. She is cold, rude and careless. Tests that should have been taken were overlooked. There were no concerns or efforts on her part when there were complications. No explanations given when asked. Terrible communicator. Gives you little to no information. The office staff is horrible and lazy.

I was bleeding three weeks before my miscarriage and was put on bed rest. But the part I can not seem to get out of my head was when she pressed so abruptly on the outside of my uterus with the Ultrasound stick, I wanted to jump off the table. I could have sworn she was trying hard to hurt the pregnancy which caused me to have even more contractions and cramps. Of course I can not prove it but I wouldn't put it past her as she said something to the effect, "well if the pregnancy is meant to stay it will stay" I made it to 13 weeks of pregnancy and changed doctors immediately.

I must say Dr. Cashie is great, she performed my D & C and was amazing! I've heard great things about
Dr. Korostoff as well. To bad they are practicing under Dr. Han. Anyway, there are good doctors out there. I did find a terrific OBGYN and I have a beautiful baby girl.

Mixed Feelings

by Anonymous

Dr. Han is extremely busy, and so visits to her have a tendency to feel rushed, and indeed, impersonal. She is also constantly being called out for emergency surgeries, and I had several appointments with her where I had to end up seeing someone else because she had suddenly become unavailable, or was running extremely late. That being said, I believe she is competent and never gave me any reason to think otherwise. She actually was not at my birth because the baby came sooner than expected. She essentially showed up after the fact, checked me out and signed off on the delivery.

Really Wonderful

by Anonymous

So surprised to see negative reviews when my experience was so positive. My child was born in 2003 so the office may be a bit different now but I found it to be very welcoming. Dr. Han was fabulous...my husband and I rarely had to wait and always had many questions for her between the two of us. She always gave us the time we needed and answered all our questions thoroughly. She was always pleasant and reassuring. I don't recall any issues with the office staff.

Just yesterday I faxed a request for some medical records to be faxed from her office to my current OB (I no longer live in LA) and she called me today, on a Sunday, to respond! To me that is amazing service...I wish I had been able to take the call. Actually, I wish I still lived in the area so she could deliver my second child, too.

Sorry for those who have had a poor experience, but mine was really great.

I really like Dr. Korostoff

by G G.

This is my first child to be born in California. I am due in March. I just switched insurance providers and saw that Dr. Han is covered under my new provider but Korostoff is not mentioned. I asked the staff and they said that they do all their billing under Han. (It takes forever to get individually approved). I am sooooo glad to hear this because I really like Dr. Korostoff. She is upbeat and friendly. Every time I am there and I rarely wait more than 10 minutes and I only wait because I am always early. I go on Thursday afternoons and have never had any problems. I like the office. I think it is clean and the office staff has never been rude to me. Sometimes they are busy answering the phones, but that is to be expected.

Like I said, I really like Dr. Korostoff

SIMPLY THE WORSE OB/GYN. SOME OF HER STAFF IS COLD AND UNFRIENDLY

by LORENA Q.

I did see DR. HAN. I thought she was unprofessional. Over booked and lacked focus.

Her staff took more than three weeks to fax an op report to my doctor. This is after i had signed two release forms. I folloed up and "it simply" did not get done until I went in person. It is clear Dr. Han's staff is clueless.

WHAT IS STRANGE-DR. HAN HAS A SIGN IN HER OFFICE THAT READS SOMETHING LIKE, "WE DON'T LIKE PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT NICE..." HAN AND HER STAFF SHOULD TAKE UP A BIT OF THEIR OWN MEDICINE AND THEIR OWN ADVICE., WILL NOT GO BACK.

Billing Department is CLUELESS

by Anonymous

I had a C Section in January by Dr. Cashie (Whom I adore). I paid my portion of the bill in MARCH. In August I got a bill for an "In Office C-Section" by Dr. Han, who was not even present. Plus, I had a C Section in a freakin' hospital. I was told that they would re-bill correctly. That was in August. The billing staff is one person./.. whom I believe is Dr. Han's mother, but I am not certain. I love Dr. Cashie, but cannot stand this office and will never ever ever go back.

A Horrible Experience

by Anonymous

This office is just HORRIBLE. The staff are so RUDE and unfriendly it's unbearable. You call to make appointments and they hang up on you. You wait in a crowded room with a hoard of other people. If your appointment is at 1pm I guarantee you the door will be locked if you get there on time. They lock it during lunch and then take forever to open it. Meanwhile you are standing there with about 20 other pregnant ladies. Unbelievable. Oh and the walls look dirty and unclean - not a very sterile looking environment.
I was about 21 weeks preganant and going to Cashie thinking everything was normal. Then I was in my hometown visiting my family when I was started spotting ever so slightly. I called Dr. Cashie and her office told me to go to the ER. It turned out I was dialating and my cervix was opening. I had to get an emergency cerclage. It failed and I had a miscarriage. My husband is convinced that Cashie should have caught this. When I came back to her office they acted like I had no business being there since I wasn't pregnant anymore. They were so cold! Even Dr. Cashie said, "I spoke to your doctor and I heard what happened." "Spoke to your doctor?" Really because that's what I thought she was!!!!!

Her office was so rude to me that I had to use their bathroom so I could sob my heart out. They were AWFUL. Then they tried to make me pay a separate copay for my exam to make sure I was okay after the miscarriage. I threw a fit. Bunch of quacks. If you are high risk - I highly encourage you to not go to these people unless you want third rate health care.

Dr. Han is no good, but Dr. CASHIE is the BEST

by Anonymous

I started out by seeing Dr. Han when I was pregnant. I had gained quite a bit of weight early on and I thought maybe I was gestationally diabetic. Dr. Han simply told me, "don't eat as much". She did not do any further tests. Then on a fluke I went in to see her... she was out and I say Dr. Cashie. She is AMAZING. She too was concerned about my weight gain and had me tested for diabetes immediately. I sure had it. Dr. Cashie gave me amazing care and referred me to all of the appropriate folks to aid in my control of the diabetes. Not only that... but I also came down with a very rare condition that ultimately could have caused harm to my baby. She caught it stat and I delivered my baby the very next day. Dr. Cashie is wonderful. Please ask to see her. Dr. Han was a mess and I could not agree more with the reviews on this site. As for the front desk folks... they have gotten much better.

very fast, lots of clients to attend to. Likes to induce labor on Mondays to avoid weekends. Front office staff is unprofessional. Dr. Cashie works at the ofice and is very sweet and attentive. You'll have to wait over an hour to see either one of them. DO NOT SIGN A CONSENT FOR SURGERY WHILE UNDER IV PAIN MEDS. ALWAYS ASK WHAT THEY ARE PUTTING IN YOUR LINE!

Should Not Be Practicing Medicine

by Anonymous

I agree with the negative reviews of the prior posters. A little over a year ago I had an ultrasound where they found a cyst on my ovary. My primary physician (who is a terrific doctor) had an authorization from my insurance company who sent me to Dr. Samantha Han. She looked at my test results and immediately stated she would remove everything and any doctor would do the same. This was before any further testing or consultations with my primary doctor. She told me I could get a second opinion but no one would disagree with her. Then she said any questions, and to hurry, because she had surgery. She was cold, indifferent, and actually frightening. Very unprofessional. Thank heavens I did get several opinions after that and found an excellent OB/GYN not far away. I complained to my primary physician and to my insurance company about Dr. Han. Her office also is extremely unprofessional and uncaring. DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR!!!!!

ALMOST KILLED ME STAY AWAY

by Anonymous

For legal reasons I can not give details, just trust me a never, ever trust your life let alone or a babies life to this incompetent woman. She truly almost killed me, I will suffer the rest of my life becasue of her and she has absolutely no explanation for what she did "or what went wrong". My biggest fear is that she will attempt to do the same thing on another otherwise healthy, happy women and ruin their lives like she ruined mine. Seriously stay away. Please.

Worse experience ever

by Heather H.

Had the worse doctor experience at Samantha Han's office. I recently had a m/c:( I sat in her office in pain for over an hour before she could see me. A few days later they ran a bunch of blood work- That was almost a month ago. I called over 7 times to get my results (that were just sitting on her desk) and they kept blowing me off. I had to yell at the receptionist to get my results and had no apology for waiting almost a month to get them which should have taken a week. The experience of losing the pregnacy was bad enough but then this was the topper.

PROS: nothing
CONS: everything

GREAT OB!

by Jenn A.

Dr. Han is SO great! Her office is VERY busy, but she's definitely worth the wait! The NP is great too!! I always felt right at home & my questions were always answered.

The first appointment you do wait a while because you need to wait for the u/s room to be empty (if you're pg). I was always in & out within an hour & a half, give or take.

I definitely recommend her office. She's popular for a reason!!!

PROS: Very friendly doctor & staff
CONS: small waiting room

Received Awful Care

by Lyn B.

I was referred to Han by a close friend. I had to wait 1 hr 20 minutes before I saw her. When I finally was taken in, I was told that she had an emergency surgery to run to. Two weeks after seeing her, I developed a yeast infection (I was 7wks pregnant). A prescription was called in for me, but when I picked it up the pharmacist informed me that women in the 1st trimester shouldn't take the drug. I called Dr. Han's office twice to speak to her about this. No phone call was ever returned.

Very cold and grim.. doesn't smile much

by Mindy L.

I waited for about half an hour after my appointed time to see the doctor. The front desk person was very cold. She was constantly on the phone and ignored you the entire time. The nurse was very nice. I liked her, but the doctor was very brief, only 5 min conversation. She kept asking if I have any questions. Well, shouldn't she be telling me what to expect. I mean, I am 16 weeks pregnant with my first child. What do I know? I would not recommend her. The first OB I went to sat down with me in his office and spoke with me for a good period of time before he examined me. Too bad, I can not go to him still. He cancelled his HMO contract.
