Reviews for Canter's Fairfax Restaurant

Ratings_icons Best Deli in LA

Kevin G.

I love Canter's! It is like walking into the past. They have a great menu that offers traditional deli items and amazing sandwiches. I have never gone in there and been disappointed or still hungry.

The only con is it is pricey for their sandwiches that run from $15 and up.

Check out their pastries afterwards. Great and affordable.

WONDERFUL DELI WITH REASONABLE PRICES. STILL OWNED BY THE ORIGINAL CANTER FAMILY -- WHO ALL WORK THERE AND ARE VERY FRIENDLY. THEIR BAKERY PRODUCTS ARE FRESH AND TASTY. THEY ALWAYS OFFER MY KIDS A FREE COOKIE!

PROS: OPEN 24 HOURS
CONS: SOMETIMES THE PARKING LOT IS FULL

Ratings_icons You should try the Matzo Ball Soup

Riva M. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 561

I am not kidding you, order the Matzo Ball Soup and you get a bowl that has a matzo ball in it almost the size of the bowl and some chicken stock... It is so good.... They have a fresh bakery and deli counter.... The 7 layer cake is amazing..... The chopped liver is almost as good as what my mom made..... You walk into there and you can tell you are in a deli...... The smell, it is permiated into the walls they have been there for so long.... I understand that they have one now in Las Vegas too.... Same waitresses have worked there for years.... You never know who you are gonna bump into there...... Once at 3am Hank Williams Jr. was inside eating breakfast....

PROS: Good old fashioned Jewish Foods (also non-jewish)

This place has that not-so modern look to its interior and it's a good place to get away from the modernism of today. I don't really think the prices are justifiable since they are high and it's not really worth it. It's also very crowded and packed. But where-else can I go for Corned Beef and a boiled head of cabbage?
