As I sit here, in my study, I am looking at two posters, from 1985 and 1986, that I had mounted at the Reprint Mint. After 20+ years this posters look great! Plus, I have another one in the middle bedroom (which functions as a guest bedroom/storage) for Amador County Wines and I think that dates from the very early 1980s (No date on the poster). This is the best way, in my opinion, to display an art poster. My poster from SFMoma's recent Cartier-Bresson exhibit is going to be mounted by The Reprint Mint and I will hang it in my bedroom. It is a durable mounting method & a terrific store!
A business plan time-tested for 30+ years. Demand: the blank walls of a continous stream of young coeds. Supply: Reprint Mint's rack after rack of reasonably priced art prints. Variety is the key here, with offerings that extend far beyond trendy Frieda Kahlo-mania and hackneyed Van Goghs.
In addition to traditional (and expensive) framing, this shop offers unique mounting styles that involve adhering the artwork onto a pressed-wood backing. Ten years after having items mounted in what Reprint Mint terms as "Old Style"--my artwork still looks great.
Pros: Variety, Unique mounting, Great place to linger
