Cons: Closes early on the weekends...

The food here is delicious. I drive over 30 miles to eat here whenever a celebration calls for it. Be careful about ordering things spicy b/c it can reallly get spicy. My personal favorites are the Tom Yum soup, the Larb salad, and this dish with fried pork and broccoli in a brown sauce. All are to die for. They said they grind some ingredients together each day to make fresh spices for specific dishes such as the larb and their effort comes through in the quality of the dishes.

The food is so delicious and authentic, but I must admit the ambiance is not my taste. This place just recently remodeled. It used to have this warm red glow to it when you walked in with soft finely decorated table cloths and comfy chairs. Now their new look has bright colors and a big glass front window that makes you feel like you're dining in a fast food restaurant. I used to like taking my friends there b/c they felt like we were out in a restaurant that only the locals knew about. The new decor, although nice, makes the restaurant seem less formal. Take a foodie there, but not someone who puts a lot of emphasis into ambiance.

Pros: GREAT AUTHENTIC FOOD. Reasonable Prices, good service

Cons: Decor gives you fast food feel rather than high-class restaurant

Renu Nakorn has been one of my favorites for several years. It used to be more of a hole-in-the-wall in an unimpressive strip mall. In early 2006 (I think) they began a 18-month renovation of that whole area, They re-opened mid 2008. Their new space looks great, and the food tastes just as good as it used to. A 1999 review in the New York Times describes the food as "the best I have had outside of Thailand."

My friends and I eagerly awaited their re-opening, and we were not disappointed. Our server said that most of the people working there were working there before the 18-month closure. Apparently, they all got different jobs while it was closed, then came back when it opened.

The food was great. Four of us ordered four dishes (a soup, a salad, a curry, and a pad see-ew). I really liked everything. Then for dessert, we ordered the mango rice dessert. It was excellent. I think it's currently my favorite dessert. Four entrees, a dessert to share, two drinks: $53.

We went for dinner, it wasn't crowded. The servers are friendly. It was a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

I highly recommend trying Renu Nakorn. And be sure to leave room for the mango dessert. I'm already thinking of when I can go back and get some more.

PROS: Good price, great food, friendly service
CONS: Too spicy unless you ask for "mild."

This place is the best ever. They have great lunch specials and dinner specials. But my all time favorite is the Seafood soup. They serve it in a warming dish with fire in the middle and it is great, be carefull because it can be very spicy. Ask for the spicyness you desire.

PROS: The food
CONS: Service sometimes slow at lunchtime
