This is the great little spot you can go to Downtown where the music isn't loud and you can still hear each other talk. It is an intimate place with a great selection of wines...try the flights, this is a great way to learn about and taste new wines. The food is really good too!

This is a really fun place! They have an EXTENSIVE wine list, and a very elaborate martini list as well! The hardest part will be deciding which drink to get! Their appetizers are very tasty too, and they are great for sharing. The downside is that it's very narrow and not too big inside, so it can get crowded depending on the time and day.

My favorite place in the Gaslamp. Even when coming downtown to go somewhere else, usually end up coming in for at least one drink. The Grape is my escape from the Gaslamp. :)

Pros: Unpretentious staff, wines you know AND wines you don't

Just discovered this adorable little bar, right in the middle of the Gaslamp! We were out last Friday, and really getting tired of the typical noisy crowds and ridiculously loud music, and all we wanted was someplace mellow to have a drink and something to eat, and there it was. Cozy, relaxing, not too crowded, and the kitchen was still open at 12:30 on a Fri night. Took our server's suggestion for the Estancia Meritage and the Chilean Carmanare and both were great. I've tried Estancia Pinot before but never that one and I had never even heard of the Chilean one. Had a mushroom feta pizza which was EXACTLY what we needed, and the staff was super friendly. Great music, good vibe, and we will definitely be going back, now that we know where it is.

Pros: Good wine, good food, good bartenders, cozy atmosphere

Cons: Had to stumble on it because it's tucked in the middle of the block on 5th

We stopped into The Grape on Labor Day Weekend. We were disappointed by the wine selection. There were a lot of supermarket type brands & wines that were interesting 5-10 years ago. There were flights of wine, yet they were served in clunky 6oz glasses that deterrred from actually ejoying the bouquet/aroma of the wines. Our server was friendly & doing a nice job of waiting on her guests, yet overal it seemed as though this wine bar hadn't changed its wines or glasseware in a long time.

Pros: Great Gaslamp Location

Cons: Outdated wines & glassware
