Mana's on Broadway is deteriorating. My initial experience was good, but now, after a couple of years of being a regular customer, Manas have forgotten what a good fresh fish should look and taste like. From fresh yellow tail to the succulent salmon, nothing of the sort can be found... unless you happen to be lucky that day. After expressing my concerns over a smelly yellow tail that was put in front of me, the sushi chef became angry at me. Go to Mana's if you are feeling lucky that day (maybe after winning a million dollar lottery).

I have been to several sushi restaurant in town, Rock n Roll on Howe & University, Hanamaki on J street, Nikisushi on 16th (?), and this one has the largest most varied selection. Everything from California Roll to Fried Oyster Rolls, cones, spider rolls, and some more exotic selections on the specials board. They have a tendency to put sauce on top of the rolls which I always ask them to not put on. I was sorry to hear that some people have had problems with the manager being rude and overcharging. Maybe I've had good luck because I very rarely go on a weekend and usually in parties of four or less. They also have excellent tempura, gyoza, teriyaki chicken, udon as well. My wife and I have been several times and we have never been disappointed.

Hello all, I took my sushi members to this place to eat because they have wonderful food at a good price range. However, when you get your check make sure that you really check it because the manager/owner will try to charge you more than what the the price is. Even after you tell him he will still argue with you. I had a party of 15 people and we each had the all you can eat for 19.99 but when we received our check it said 19.99 bu the subtotal was 20.59 and on top of that he tried to charge us two time for the gratuity of 18% which equals out to 36% (what the heck). So we pointed out to him that it was wrong and he kept insisting that it was so I told him to give the me calculator and recalcute the total to show him that it was wrong, so he finally said ok, I'll it. After waitng around for half and hour our check came again the second time and it was still wrong. So we all recalculate it on the check and paid was appropriate. Then the manager/owner started to yell at me for not paying the correct amount on the check when it was wrong to start with. So if you want a place with good sushi which they do have and our server Karen was great, but the manager/owner was terrible and has a horrible customer service manner and service himself. I highly recommend that if you go to this place to eat make sure that you double and triple check your bill or you will get rip off for sure. Thank you,

Pros: Good sushi

Cons: Manager/owner customer service and they will over charge you if you don't look at your bill

My wife an I keep trying other places, mostly because we'd like something more romantic, yet I always end wishing I'd spent the same money at Mana. A few of the things we order when I go there are w/ my spouse:

- a dinner (chicken teriyaki) because it comes with miso soup, rice and tempura
- sea steak
- a roll and some nigiri

The atmosphere is tolerable, definitely not romantic. It doesn't look very special when you walk in, but you forget all of that (even the odd manager that yells a lot) when you get your meal. Prices are average, now they even have an all you can eat roll for $20.

I am writing this review about the new Mana on Broadway, which was a good place to eat sushi until Mana took it over. I went there and complained about some pretty bad tasting yellowtail. On the rare occasions when I have a complaint in a restaurant, I expect the staff to show at least some concern. Not here. When I asked for the bill, I was surprised to still see the yellowtail on there. I told them I only ate half of it, and therefore should only pay for half of it. After some deliberation, they agreed. This was a big turn off. The sushi there is ok, but not great. The prices are high. I will not be going back.

If you want to be rushed and treated bad this is the place for you. I was having a good lunch til the clock struck 2 pm. At that point i was told they are closed and to pay bill.I still had over half my lunch left and beverages. When i told the waitress how rude she was she then began to act as if she didnt understand. Her english was PERFECT prior to that!! After spending $20 for lunch I would have liked to be able to eat it!!

The room is huge, open and can be somewhat manic, but the staff are extremely friendly and the sushi here is just great. Frequently offering fresh specials such as bluefin tuna and other fish in season, Mana is the place to go if you're a purist or if you just want great sushi. I've been there 4 or 5 times and have yet to be disappointed. I've recommended the place to others and now they love it, too.

We used to get take out from Mana because it's close to our work, but the sushi is overpriced, considering its poor quality. The box lunches and dinners do come with large portions but again the quality is poor. I do like their miso soup however. The service is haphazard, during the daytime the staff are usually friendly. At night, the service is pretty bad. I stopped going there after Taro's opened at the mall. The prices are about the same, but the quality at Taro's completely outshines Mana's.

I LOVE this place! We eat there at least twice a month and have been for the last 3 years. I see some of the reviews people have written about the main dinners, and that I have no comment on since I only have eaten the sushi. The rolls are big and flavorful and the best I have had anywhere. The fish is always fresh and service is good. I have eaten Sushi at quite a few restaurants here and in San Francisco and this is still the best! So far for me the only thing they have been slow about is bringing the check...LOL

I've been consistently disappointed with this place over the last year. (it used to be great about five years ago). I'll never go back. I ordered the tempura dinner and I think it was about $15 - it was doughy and greasy (their tempura was made from some frozen 'premade' stuff - reminded me of the stuff you can get at Trader Joe's and cook at home.) The sushi was sloppy and not all that fresh. For the quality and service you'd at least think the place would be inexpensive - but it's ridiculously OVER PRICED. My recommendation: GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

I love sushi and have eaten at many of the local Sushi places, this is some of the best Sushi you can get in Sacramento (I must have tried about 15 different Sushi places around this area). The entrees are good as well, but the Sushi is definately the focus here and extremely well priced (again, Sushi, haven't ordered the entrees, though tried some of my fiances). The ambience is very nice and comfortable, I love their player piano (not always on but, they'll turn it on at request). Especially try the Unagi (Eel) and Saba (Mackarel), some of the best I've had anywhere.

I love the sushi at this place! They have never dissappointed me, and so I came on here just to give a rave review because other people should try it. We choose this place over the highly regarded Mikuni's because of the atmoshphere, and the rolls can take the pepsi challenge with them any day. The servers at Mana are always the most friendly of anywhere we go, and even the sushi chef's and manager thank you for coming in when you are leaving. The price is good for sushi, no more expensive than the next place. I would recommend this place to anybody looking for a good sushi restaurant in Sacramento.

I question the fact that their Charashi was $25.98, as many of you know that would be the highest price of Charashi in the entire Sacramento Area by about 10 dollar. I indicated that I thought the price was only $18.00. One of the Managers indicated to me in a firm voice: "What would you like me to do about it!" I indicated that I would pay the bill. As I was leaving, I informed the Manager that I would never come back and tell friends the same. He said to me he did not care. Whatever happen to the saying the Customer is always right and is important to business. I ask that you never visit a restaurant that does not care about your business.

My family loves going here! Great food, entrees are delicious, especially the sesame chicken, sooo yummy. You also get a california roll or another one (forgot the name) with many of the entrees as well as great miso and a sprout salad that I can't find anywhere else but is awesome. They sushi is also excellent, check out the specials board, they have winners! It is pricey tho, but you also get A LOT of food with your order and the staff is friendly and helpful.

So many rolls, so little time! This Japanese sushi restaurant offers unique sushi rolls, hand rolls, sashimi, and traditional Japanese dishes such as Udon, Teriyaki, Tempura....and the list goes on. The rolls here are HUGE, so you can be full by ordering just two. Or one if you are a skinny butt. They also offer all kinds of Sake and Beers. The TV's are all tuned to sports for you guys out there. The servers are all excellent. They can describe the rolls for you and make good, genuine recommendations. This is not a cheap place, but not the most expensive either. Expect to spends at least $40 for two. Not bad for excellent sushi. Some of the sushi rolls have teriyaki sauce on them. Others have the Mana "special" sauce on them. Others are 'naked'. and the list goes on. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed. No need to dress up! The sushi bar is fun if you want to watch your food being prepared. The tables are best for intimate romantic dinners. I love their Bento boxes. mmmmmmm! This restaurant is easy to find. It is right across the street from the Target on Fulton and Alta Arden. Sometimes parking is a pain. but not always. They also sell fun Japanese candies and teas. Also they sell fun Japanese sodas and drinks. This place is fun. I recommend trying all the rolls. They have fried oysters in some. Others have tempura shrimp in the middle. They also have spicy tuna. So, give this place a try. Its near another restaurant that is not nearly as good, called Katana. Skip that one! and go to Mana! Sometimes you have to wait, but not ever longer than 20 minutes. And the service is fast. Dinners come with yummy miso soup. Sushi rolls come with edamame. Yum! I love the Wendy role. Also I love the Tony roll, the Curtis roll, and others. Just writing about it makes me want to go and order sushi right now!!! What else can I say! Its the most excellent sushi restaurant in the Arden area! The rolls are all named after people, so it makes you think, who
