Paru's doesn't look like much from the street, but behind the gates you'll find authentic, fresh vegetarian indian cuisine. So good. Nice folks working there as well. They make you feel very welcome.
4I've introduced my friends and family to try the best vegetarian Indian restaurant in L.A. And everyone agrees that Paru's is quite exceptional! A friend of mine took me here back in 2004 and I fell in love with "Tanjore Double".

Pros: Atmosphere, service, vegetarian
Pathetic service coupled by rude attitude. We were 2 families and ordered 2-3 dishes. Most dished very pretty blend, asif they just boiled it and brought it in front of us except for Gobhi Allo, which looked decent in taste. However,

Pros: Worst Attitute and ill mannered
Cons: Full of drawbacks
Paru's has a terrific menu for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. The dal and the raita alone are worth the trip. Also the chai is perfect. Add in a gracious host and pleasant atmosphere and you've got Paru's.
4Passing through the buzzer iron gates and somewhat dingy outer patio makes the cozy interior feel even more intimate. The two guys that run the show in the dining room are super friendly and helpful, and they serve you pretty fantastic

Pros: feel safe trying anything on the menu-- each dish will have at least a few things you'll love
Cons: going in a largish group can be hard to find a table, though the guys work hard to accomodate
I'm not a vegetarian, but a trusted vegetarian friend of mine gave this place her word. Still, the dinky outside kept me away a couple months until one night my boyfriend and I decided to dine at Paru's. What a treat! Don't judge a

I lived up in the bay area for a while and fell in love w/ Indian food. Since moving south 4 years ago this is the first place that matched the traditional food I had up north. The Masala Dosa is excellent and a meal in itself. The

I lived accross the street from this place for years without realizing it was there... Similarly, people dining here for the 1st time often miss the entrance and walk right by (probably because it's gated and you have to be buzzed in). But

I stumbled upon Paru's while on a trip to Freestyle Photo, and it was the best discovery I have ever made. Literally a hole in the wall, you walk into a magical garden with umbrellas, fountains, colorful paper lanterns, decorative pillows,

Pros: Everything: food, staff, ambience- perfect!
Cons: nothing :-) (okay... maybe parking...)
Its the best hole in the wall ever. It's unassuming at first, but once you press that buzzard and the host lets you in, you step into a lush landscape and forget that you're in LA. The owner usually greets you at the door with the most

Paru's is like a trip to a small village in the south of India. The food is always wonderful regardless of the day or time of day. I visit here with freinds that say they hate vegetarian food and by the end of dinner they say "wow!!, I

theres something quasi-magical about paru's, it might have something to do with the contrast between the nasty location and exterior with the warmth and intimacy of the interior. something about being let in after ringing the doorbell

First the place is good & nicely decorated. The service was good. The food was hot and was ready in reasonable time.
Now to the Food Part. It is completely different from South Indian. The food may be good for people who doesn't want any

Behind it's metal gate door, is a lovely patio dining area that leads to an even cozier indoor setting. With its unassuming facade, you will enjoy dining in what feels like a hidden food heaven. Quality food and friendly service.
5I spent a month in South India a few years ago, and this is by far the closest thing in the states to that I have found, (and I have looked). Even in NYC, where I am from, there are a few VERY expensive places in midtown that cater to

Pros: Healthy, Delicious, Inexpensive
Cons: , Busy
Don't let the caged outside scare you, Paru's may not be in a great area- but the food inside will make it worth the risk.
The dining room is very small, if you want room to stretch out, take a seat in the outside patio area.
The entrees

Pros: great food, fair prices, friendly staff
Normally I go to restaurants for the food. Paru's offers so much more than good food. I sometimes find myself craving the serenity that I feel when I'm there. It has to do with the warm greeting we get from the waiter and his calm,

Good place to go for vegan Indian food. The service, food, and ambience is good. The place is rather small, though, and is not in a great area, perhaps why you have to ring a doorbell to get in during the day.
My girlfriend is Indian,

The portraits give a spiritual feeling to the place. It may be a good cultural experience for some. Or you can ignore the pictures and enjoy your food.

I discovered this hole-in-the-wall gem completely by accident, but what an amazing find. The food's great. The service is great. The prices are very reasonable. The only drawbacks I've noticed are that the dining area can get tight,

Has a nice decor, good host, good food. The only problem I have with this place is that the size of portions is too small. Authentic south Indian it is, but not is quantity. Ambiance is pretty good.

A secret oasis cloaked behind iron gates on Sunset, you have to ring a doorbell to gain entry. Once inside, one is immediately taken by how surprising large the area is. This is not to say that it's huge, just that from the outside it
