I love this restaurant. The food is delicious and healthy. The atmosphere is very hip and modern. I felt cool just being there. ha ha. I usually always order the ahi tuna dinner. They change there menu from time to time so i never get bored. They also have a great bar that I usually hit up on the way to HP for concerts or Sharks games. If you have a chance order there french fries. They make them nice and thin. I love this place.

If I could rate this restaurant with less than one star, I would. On November 16, 2007, my husband and I made reservations for a party of 15 on November 17, 2007. The reservation was too late in the evening so I called back and cancelled the reservation. Unfortunately, they did not document the cancellation and now have charged us a $409.00 cancellation fee. The events coordinator, Adrianna, explained to me today that the cancellation policy is $25 per person for a large party.

Neither I nor my husband knew that at the time of the reservation or the cancellation, or else we would not have cancelled.

Adrianna consulted with the owners and refuses to be flexible regarding this charge. At one point she offered that we could come in with a large party and they would credit the cancellation fee to our bill. I told her I'd need to talk with my husband. She responded - "talk with your husband". I was quiet for a minute because I was upset and tearful (I've had a terribly stressful year and this was just one more thing on my plate) - and SHE HUNG UP ON ME!

I am not an inconsiderate patron and I think of myself as pretty reasonable, and am severly disappointed at the response I received from the restaurant regarding this unfortunate set of circumstances.

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, based on this experience.

Please do not patronize this business.

Before entering the restaurant me and my significant other were enjoying each other's company. Once stepping into the restaurant the hostess was not very nice. We made reservation to sit at a booth like two days in advance and they gave us seating in chairs. The food was ok. The enviroment was just okay.

I would not go back to this restaurant.

Only good thing was the chocolate dessert.

Had a going a way party with a group of 22 friends. Reservations were at 815pm but didnt get seated until 900pm. we didnt get an explanation why it took so long to set up the tables. finally got seated and looked at the menu the first time (by the way the menus were just typed on paper and put on a clip board). All I have to say is EXPEEEENSIVE. Starters were a bit pricey for small small portions. The bread that they sever was hard and cold. (keep in mind they have an automatic 18% gratutiy for parties of 6 or more) As the night progressed we all have ordered and got ower meals in about 25 min. Most of us ordered steaks. Not one came out cooked the way they wanted it to be cooked. I had the salmon. flavoring was on point but overly cooked and cam out very dry. 15 min after everyone get their meals the server started to offer us desserts. He started to offer their signature chocolate suflet. He said " if any one wants this dessert to order it now because it takes 15 min to make". no one had ordered it. one friend asked to see the menu and the server said " oh i was waiting to passit out to every one else at the same time" (with an attitude) once everyone look at the menu about 6 people ordered the chocolate suflet. after the first order of the suflet the server replied "REALLY" after the 4th person ordered it he started rolling his eyes at the table. he then went to place dessert spoons on the table instead of placeing it on the table, he simply plopped them in front of us. I complained o the manager and he did not offer anything in return for the delayed seating and bad attitude from the server. well you see where this is going. I WILL NEVER NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANY ONE.

My husband and I went to Seven for a Friday night dinner. The server was cold, he didn't know much about the menu, and they were out of several dishes. The chairs are cheap and we felt like it was going to break. The food was alright, we've had better... nothing special just wanna be Fusion Cuisine that doesn't meet up to all the rave people are giving it. Oh, and let's not forget about the price... whoa... way too expensive for what you get and for the cheap decor and wanna be restaurante.
Wouldn't recommand Seven to anyone, unless they want to spend way too much for food and sit on crappy chairs.

Pros: Sorry, couldn't think of one...

Cons: Parking, Price, Service

Seven is one of my favorite restaurants in the Bay Area. It delivers gourmet-like flavors at a reasonable price and they know how to fancy up what would ordinarily be plain food. While the menu is small, I think they do this to focus their efforts to make sure that all dishes are prepared fresh. I love their halibut dishes, the bellinis, but I'm not a fan of any of their desserts. The service is typically good and things are served promptly. Note that there is a different menu offered in the bar.

Seven is one of the new Trendy/Hipster restaurants that you see are now popping up all over San Jose. The restaurant has a very Modern/Hipster vibe to it and serves modern American food. They also have a nice bar/lounge area with a drink menu that is about 5 pages long.

We had dinner reservations at 6 and were promptly seated and the service was very attentive. The seating is too close for my taste. Seven changes their menu daily depending upon what is fresh. While their menu doesn't have a wide variety of choices, there are several good choices. The food here is very good (though they serve the bread cold) and they do an excellent job in plating presentation. Prices here are on the high side, expect to pay $5-$10 Cocktails, $7-$14 Salads/Appetizers, & Mains $15-$30.

Overall I would recommend this place for that special occasion.

My boyfriend took me here for V-day. I would have to say this was a really nice experience for a holiday. The waiter was REALLY nice and very helpful. The food was very tasty! I would love to come back again and check out their bar area. Over all this was a really nice place to eat at. Would go back again!

I wasn't disappointed, nor were my socks blown off: Just Ok.

2hr street parking (wednesday, ~7pm, no Sharks game). Inside loud but not distracting. Ambiance good, well designed space, good layout.

Butternut Squash soup had too much beef/animal structure that overpowered any vegetable flavor. Beet salad was ok, except for the metallic reaction to the vinegar, bites with a definite "off" taste of metal, candied nuts were delicious. Roast chicken was good, crispy skin. I had steak, cooked as requested, med-rare, but chewy and "just ok". I don't like meat served atop sloppy wet overwhipped mashed potatoes. Pushing down to cut the meat resulted in a mess of mashed goo. Please-potatoes on the side...

Good wine menu, started with Schramsberg, finished with Leal's "Threesome".

Service was efficient, and met minimum standard requirements. Food was good, ambiance friendly. I would recommend it to business travelers. Regular customers? Probably not.

Seven is an excellent restaurant - a Bay Area hidden gem. Located two blocks from the Arena in San Jose, its a great place to go for a nice upscale dinner before a concert. Try to get one of the high-backed booths. They're really spacious & private. The food is excellent, even some of the top restaurants in San Francisco would be envious. The atmosphere is very hip yet you can still have a convo because its not super loud. That's a rare combination. The service is excellent and there are some hotties working there. The only drawback is that there is no street parking out front or any parking in the front at all so you are forced to park in a big back lot and go through some boring, smallish back entrance where you do not get to enjoy the unique design of the front of the place.

We went in for a quick meal before a hockey game (it's about a 5 minute walk from the SharkTank) and they seated us promptly, didn't mind that I wasn't dressed fancy (we were going to a hockey game, after all) --- most importantly, though the menu was limited (a few meats and a pasta dish as main courses), the food was excellent! We ordered the crab cakes and romaine salad to share, and our entrees were the chicken and tuna steak (seared)- yum! Definitely a great dining experience in San Jose, esp if you're looking for something other than the regular bar-fare closer to San Pedro square. I'm only sad we didn't have room for their signature chocolate mousse!

when we were seated - the waiter told us that they were out of a couple of entrees already. They served us cold bread. when i suggested to the manager that "it would have been nice if the bread was warm" - he says - "I am sorry sir - but this is how we have been doing it" !!!!!!!

Anyway - I ordered a burger. the waiter comes back and says they are OUT OF FRIES !!!. how can a restaurant run out of fries?

overall i would rate the food - 7/10. Service - although i cannot rate it poor - becos they were prompt and polite - the waiters should be trained to better address customer feedback.

there are many good restaurants in san jose - If you happen to be in the HP Pavilion area - then sure - i would recommend Seven.

The food is excellent. The owners have way too much attitude though. I eat there often. The food is excellent. It is very expensive. The burgers are the best ever and reasonably priced at around 10 bucks. The AHI is GREAT... just make sure you get it medium rare.
My only complaint is the ownership. I mean come on guys, you have a great restaurant it could be so much more if you guys were a little bit humble.

From the food to the bar....oh yes, the bar ..well, I met my future wife there, needless to say I had such an incredible time...Keep up the great work, and if anything opens up in Santana Row...take it!
