My girlfriend and myself are new to the "Property Management" game. The Stove in the main house went out and so at the landlords request we began looking up repair services. We read a bunch of threads from this review site (Very Helpful in coming to the conclusion that a lot of "Repair Men" are super shady) and ultimately decided on Teevax or The Appliance Doctor. Teevax was the first to respond and here is my experience thus far: My girlfriend calls them up to set up the appointment, they are way over booked and the receptionists are extremely rude. They call back the day before to confirm an appointment for the wrong address at a different date, I called them to correct the address and in that confusion missed the date situation. They guy shows up at 7:30a.m. (granted I'm not expecting him till 4 days later) thinking he's going to fix the washing machine. I explained to him that we called him about the stove, he plays with the stove for about 5 minutes, then says "the board has gone out, we don't have one in stock, I'm going to have to special order it, I don't know how much the cost is going to be." Still waking up I say "yeah, sure, no problem" then he asks "who's going to be paying for this?" "The landlord" I reply. Then he says "So then he's going to reimburse you for the $68 service fee?" I said "What $68 service fee?" Repairguy "The $68 service for me coming out here" Myself "This is supposed to be an estimate" Service call guy "No, it's a service call we informed you of this when we confirmed the appointment" Me "Nobody said anything about any money, infact you guys left me a voice message with the wrong address and date" Repairguy "It was explained to whoever called it in....(read's off my girlfriends name) that there would be a service fee" I call her up while she's at work, and to my total lack of surprise she tells me not only was no service fee mentioned, but the lady was textbook rude. So then I tell the guy no money was mentioned, and that I have none on me. I could tell he was probing to see how far he could escalate this situation, but all that ensued was us going around in circles for 5 minutes. If I were an old lady I'd be quakin' in my my boots, but this a 7 bedroom residence with former marines, frat boy Judo enthusiasts, and bar bouncers, all of whom are waking up to the sound of me arguing with this guy. Finally he says "Well, I can't order this part till we get the money for the service call, what's your landlords name and number?" I give him the name and number and tell him "He's a lawyer, just so you know." He says "Well what's that supposed to mean?" This is when I just spell it out for the guy "That he is extremely busy and that it is difficult to get a hold of him, that's why he hires us, and we're extremely busy that's why we hire you, and instead billing us everytime you feel like showing up, why don't you just save all your numbers until you've actually fixed something". Realizing that I wasn't going to pay him squat or sign anything, he left saying "Well you're going to have to work this out with the office" I said "Fine, my people will contact your people". Personally I think this kind of tactic should be illegal, it's the classic bait and switch. Act like rude morons (o.k. maybe that's not an act) as a way of covering up/explaining away or legitimizing their own ineptitude.

I bought a new stove from TeeVax on Memorial Day 2010. The salesman was very informative and helpful, but it was the young delivery person who really impressed me. He was very professional and thorough, checking all aspects of the oven and burners after installation and even showing me how to use everything before he left. With service like that, I'll continue to be a customer of TeeVax.

I purchased a washer over the phone and the salesman was terrific. We did however run into some glitches with delivery and install fees and I was very dissatisfied with the outcome. Basically, I described our property and told them it would be a challenging install. I paid extra to have a two man install. They delivery men arrived on time and did the install in less then an hour, but before hading me the bill stated I owed for installation.\r
\r
I assumed the agreed upon amount was not listed on my invoice and wrote a check for installation, only to later discover that I had already paid for a two man installation on my initial credit card charge (remember I did all of this on the phone). When I called to complain, the office person said the delivery men said it was a ""difficult install"" and should have been a 3 man job (even though they completed it in under the hour I paid for). The office person also asked why I wrote the check in the first place. \r
\r
The salesman whom i later contacted had a similar explanation, which just doesn't add up to me; I was never told during my phone purchase that I may be charged extra for a difficult install. \r
\r
I could have stopped payment on the check, but they have my credit card number anyway and I may need to do business with them again; I live in a rural area and few folks deliver out here, but that doesn't excuse lack of customer service and jacking up of prices (an additional 5% in the end).

Pros: good phone sales, knowledgeable

Cons: rip off with delivery/ extra charges

He who knows what screw to turn does so because he whent to train for this profession. especially in this economy. nobody pays the rent with happy thoughts and good intentions. I dont care if a repair takes him 5 seconds...he knew what to do and i didnt. thus is the way of the world. a doctor is no different and a mechanic is no different. I have had the best experiences with teevax and all my friends and family have as well. we all understand that sometimes repairs take time, not everything can be handled right then. they stand by their product and are able to do same day service in moments notice if warrented. this makes for a great company in my eyes. if you want a deal, fix it yourself.

I had a previous experience with them which was an expensive repair, I think because of the washing machine, the tech was good and on time, cleaned and up front, but the latest experience on 09/08 was very disappointing. we called Tee Vax because our washing machine was spinning, but did not do it the way it was supposed to do it. After the initial inspection of $??? plus the next trip of $00.00 and a third trip of $300+ our washing machine is worse than when we began. I did not even get a copy of what i was paying for. Right now I am trying to get the facts before I can give them a bad rating, so I am not sure in how this is going to end up. I will keep you informed.

e bought our oven through Tee Vax, and have had nothing but problems since. It constantly smells of gas, undercooks food and won't light. We called for a repair because the oven wouldn't get up to temperature and the stove top wouldn't light, again. When the repair man came he told us that the burners lit for him and didn't investigate the issue any further(despite the alarming odor of gas) and informed us that our oven required two burners that the company did not have in stock and would not be able to fix them until the following week. He charged us $68 for the consultation, which took 15 minutes, and he discovered nothing more than what we had already informed the company when we first called. What I find especially frustrating is that Tee Vax has all our information on hand as they sold us the oven, but the repair man said that our oven required two ignitors and there was no way of knowing this.

My experience with Tee Vax has been with their service & repair only- although my neighbors have purchased a few appliances from them with good results as well. We needed our dryer serviced- not something that is very thrilling to spend money on, but with 2 kids - one potty training, you need a working dryer! I called them and easily scheduled someone to come out and look at it- they were upfront when I asked them about costs, hard and estimated, and the technician was on time and did a great job. Their costs are very comparable to other companies (I called about three). It turned out to be something not too expensive (whew!) and they didn't dawdle or try to make is more than it was and explained to me what they were doing and gave me some tips for future use. As an added bonus the technician made an effort to befriend my children who were a bit worried about somebody tearing apart their dryer! I would have no reservations about using them next time something is on the fritz (not soon I hope!)

PROS: On Time, efficient, fair & honest.
CONS: I think I had to wait 2 days to get sheduled in but I think that's the norm
