J J & F Food Store

J J & F Food Store is a family run grocery store conveniently located on El Camino and College Avenue in Palo Alto. Most of the employees have been there for years and are extremely friendly. While they don't have the extensive selection of products that you find at Safeway, they have just about everything you need on a regular basis. Their produce is very nice and generally reasonably priced. They carry some organic produce, but don't have nearly the selection of organics that's available at Whole Foods. They also have a very nice meat and seafood department. Overall, I find it to be a very pleasant and easy place to stop and shop.

PROS: Great location, family run, friendly people, nice meat and produce
CONS: Less extensive selection of products available than at Safeway

J J & F Market has been in business for at least 50 years. My mother shopped there with all 6 children in tow. The butcher dept is one of the best in town with quality meats and prices. The same staff has been there for many years and they are all courteous, friendly & helpful. Their wine dept is top-notch, as well. It is a pleasure to grocery shop there.

This small grocery store has a very nice selection of produce, cheeses, meats (outstanding!) and some specialty food items (e.g., German baked goods). I enjoy shopping at this low-keyed store. Big on selection, but no snob-factor. Friendly checkers and staff.

for a small place, they have good selection of groceries and it's a much more pleasant shopping experience than big supermarkets, less crowded and more personal touch. Even their fish and meats are good

This store is fairly small, but nice. It has pretty good quality foods and most of the things that you might be able to find at Safeway. It is a great store if you live in the neighborhood.
