Cole Hardware

While I think Cliff's on Castro may offer some more abstruse items, and far more interesting decor stuff, Cole is the place for plain, no-nonsense hardware with a lot of knowlegable advice and basic things that you can't find at the big depot stores. All their locations have semi-difficult parking situations, which is kind of a pain, and you may have to wait a while for service, but when they get to you they give you all their attention and reallly try to help.

My boyfriend loves to go here and whenever we go to this store together, I'm surprised when I always seem to find something that I needed for the house! This place is more than a hardware store. The staff knows their stuff and can pretty much tell you where every items is by heart. I've found little clips that I've been looking for everywhere for my plants, and they had it for $.25 each!! What a deal!

Cole hardware on Polk has friendly, helpful sales people who will listen to what you think you need, and make a good recommendaiton. For a hardware novice like myself, it is always appreciated.

PROS: Helpful
CONS: Limited hours, more expensive than home depot.
